ARCHIVED Would You Use These Be Cleanser And Moisturizer?
birdie22 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Looking for feedback on the ingredients of these two Bare Escentuals (Bare Minerals) products. I've used them for years and really truly adore them. Seriously. I've tried a dozen other things for my combo, acne prone skin like Cerave, Cetaphil, Garnier, etc and keep coming back to them. I'm not diagnosed celiac (blood test neg) and don't have DH. Clearly... -
ARCHIVED I Thought I Had My Answer But Still Not So Sure

Gee so glad you are all so "taken" by my posts lol! The dizzy buzzed feeling finally stopped at about 5pm thankfully. While I was feeling junky I ate 3 thin mints. I bought them before going gluten-free and they werent delivered until after so I hadn't had any yet and they are my favorite. I figure this is my final fairwell to gluten tour and I might as... -

Kamma...thanks for the list! Yep, that about sums it up. Oh, add heartburn to that list. Although I've had this almost daily both on gluten and off it. Even after all those months gluten-free, the heartburn was still present more often than not though quite mild. Other than the canker sore, nothing is consistent or lasting. The others come and go in no discernible... -
Yes. When I'm eating a gluten full diet I wake up starving, feel starving within a few hours of a meal and well, just feel the need to eat all day long. When I'm gluten-free I am content w/ 3 meals a day.

ARCHIVED The Importance Of Vitamins
birdie22 replied to JustNana's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My doc suggested 400-500mg of chelated magnesium to help with headaches and an ache in my thighs. While not completely resolved, I did see improvement (less frequent episodes) once I ditched the cal-mag and went straight mag. I take 500mg. -

I take B12 sublingual, D3, and Magnesium. For those taking cal-mag, my doc strongly advised me to not take them together. There's conflicting info on the web but the conventional wisdom says that the calcium blocks the magnesium absorption. I started with a cal-mag supplement and was still having issues. Once I switched to mag only I saw improvement. -

Had another bowl of cream of wheat this afternoon. No immediate effects. Ten decided about 1hr later to indulge in some cheddar chex mix because I love that stuff and I might as well enjoy it while back on gluten. About 45 min later I feel really bloated and a tad bit dizzy. So weird that the cream of wheat has gone down fine two days now but felt bad with... -

Thanks Kamma. Treated myself to a nice gluten-free chipotle last for dinner cause I couldnt bring myself to do more gluten. I did have a handful of wheat thins for a late day snack and had more nausea. At bedtime I had to take phazyme because I had gas pain but no gas to pass. This morning I had a hard boiled egg and was nauseated for an hour after. I'm going... -

Had 2 more slices of wheat bread last night and for lunch today a nice serving of cream of wheat. I ate it by itself so as to have an empty stomach and not "dilute" it with anything. I felt some nausea afterwards but no abdominal discomfort. Of course I'm starving 1hr later. I woke up today with a headache behind my right eye and down the base of skull towards... -

Yup. Exactly! No gluten meals today yet but hubby is grocery shopping and he's getting me cream of wheat. Yuck. Still starving and now my stomach is rumbling (not growling and not gurgling but the loud rumble). Fun. -
ARCHIVED Celiac In The Real World
birdie22 replied to Sarunski's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You said you are student teaching and eating at the school cafeteria is that correct? Can you prepare your own lunch and bring it? I would think that is safest. Could you supplement some cafeteria food with your own or stick to things that come individually packaged like fruit (things with peels like banana, orange), single serve fruit or applesauce cups... -
ARCHIVED Anybody Had These Symptoms?
birdie22 replied to kdawz's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I empathize with your frustration. Right there with ya! When I asked for celiac testing I just asked my doctor to humor me. She did and it was negative. But she was also the first to admit that there's false negatives and non-celiac sensitivities. After the panel then I did a trial elimination diet. Of course now I'm left to consider whether I ask for... -
ARCHIVED Teeth Cleaning At Dentist's
birdie22 replied to lovetapioca's topic in Super Sensitive People
At my last cleaning my hygienist used just ground pumice and water. It's not flavored and really like having your teeth cleaned with chalk, but I could at least rest easy knowing it was gluten-free. Otherwise they use a "sand blast" type instrument and she wasn't sure if the starchy material (Cavitron Jet Fresh Densply) had gluten or not. I've tried contacting... -

I also noticed that I'm starving. Like STARVING. I woke up hungry. Now, 3hrs after my gluten-free breakfast I'm starving again. Like I'm almost nauseated I'm so hungry. I haven't had this feeling since being full on gluten. Back then I was hungry 24-7. Since being gluten-free I've been amazed at how satiated I feel between meals. -

You are both right. I really should do a more extended challenge. I guess it's a matter of finding the "right" time to do it. If I'm going to feel like junk for a week or probably more I need to do it when I can afford to be less than productive at work and/or home (I have 2 small children). Since I've had a gluten meal once a day for the last 2 days I might... -
ARCHIVED Anybody Had These Symptoms?
birdie22 replied to kdawz's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have not been diagnosed Celiac and my blood panel was negative, however I've been on a gluten-free diet since Nov in order to determine if gluten is my issue. I too get epigastric pain and visible upper and lower abdominal bloating. It usually starts about 1hr after a meal. I find that phazyme sometimes helps. The fatigue, looser stools (but not D), muscle... -
ARCHIVED I Thought I Had My Answer But Still Not So Sure

I've posted here several times about trying to determine the cause of my symptoms that started ~18mo ago (bloating, distention, pain at my breastbone, canker sores, heartburn, headaches, fatigue, nausea, leg aches, etc). My celiac panel was negative and various other blood and diagnostic tests have been normal. My PCP has not outright said IBS, but I'm sure... -
I just came across this post...sorry I missed it earlier. I too was told I had geographic tongue when I was a child...maybe 10 or 12yo.

Could it be coxsackie virus? That causes mouth sores on the gums and throat and also cause spots and blisters on hands and feet. Here in the US, coxsackie virus is very common this time of year. My husband and 2 daughters all had it about 2yrs ago. It's most common in children but adults can get it too. The sores in the mouth and throat can be very painful...

ARCHIVED Digestive Enzymes And Stomach Rumbling
birdie22 replied to birdie22's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
No, not really sure I need them. My PCP suggested I take them. She thought they'd help with the bloating, distention, heartburn and occasional fat malabsorption (some stools show a slight film on the water). I guess I'm not sure how to know if I really need them. I usually only take one with a meal. Should I be taking 1 with every single meal or... -
ARCHIVED Goya gluten-free Products
birdie22 replied to BabsV's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm surprised they list all of their rice mixes as "containing gluten" as I've looked at a few (black bean most recently) and there were no gluten ingredients listed. Now I know there could be CC but seeing as their website lists CC separately from "contains gluten" I would guess that isn't the case. So, I wonder what the gluten is in all of the rice mixes... -

ARCHIVED Beer Can Chicken...duh
birdie22 replied to The Glutenator's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I know this is an old thread but I found it on a search of "celiac beer can chicken" because guess what...I did it too. DH made beer can chicken last night. The weather is unseasonably warm here and we've been grilling like crazy. We love beer can chicken because it is so moist. I was half way through a chicken leg/thigh before it even dawned on me about... -
ARCHIVED Digestive Enzymes And Stomach Rumbling
birdie22 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I started taking digestive enzymes with heavier meals. I've noticed a few times that for a few hours after taking them my stomach is just gurgling and rumbling so loudly. I feel gassy but don't pass very much. It's a different feeling than when I'm glutened which feels more bloated in my upper abdomen. This is all in my stomach and intestines. Anyone find...
