  1. Thanks everyone! It is helpful to get opinions and experiences from those that understand. I've been fully prepared to lose a friendship or level of frienship through this as with any major life changes. That is just life and isn't always a bad thing. You find out who your true friends are through different situations. I am just going to drop it for now and...
  2. Thanks! I was thinking it was way to gossipy to trust. Sometimes hard to see it clearly though when you have emotions involved. I will probalby just call her and talk to her and see how it goes. Find some way to incorporate the gluten issue in to get her response. I don't want to cause them a rif by straight out talking to her about it if I don't have to...
  3. I don't think many people on here will tell you what to do. What we are saying is don't always trust everything a doctor tells you. Especially one that has already messed up your results. You need to be sure to listen to your body and take into account of what you feel and think. It may not be gluten. It could be another food allergy. Only your body truly...
  4. Any thoughts/experiences appreciated. I can
  5. I am so sorry! That is very frustrating! There are a lot of otheres out there that have more experience and/or knowledge than I do. However, I would not discount Celiac. Over and over you see how it is misdiagnosed. Also, thyroid problems and celiac are common. Has the gluten free diet made you feel better or helped you in any way? You could still have...
  6. Most definitely! For me, I now eat a lot more protein. I also eat meats I never liked before like ham and bacon. I don't have the crazy cravings like I used to have. I still want pizza from time to time, but not nearly as often. I have never been much of a dessert fan, but I probably have had a lot more deserts lately just from trying things out so that I...
  7. I am still new to gluten free as well but here is a few things that may help: I was just thinking the other day how I would like to make a philly cheesesteak on a Udi's toasted hot dog bun. I havent tried it yet, but I think it would be really yummy. I LOVE pizza and was really sad about pizza at first. Other than not having the ease of popping in somewhere...
  8. I am so sorry they got mad at you! It should be your choice to participate or not, regardless of reason. I feel lucky that I changed jobs this year before going gluten free. There is only 11 of us here and we are doing a pot luck. There is one that is vegetarian, another with some food restrictions and one that is very strict on weight watchers, so I don...
  9. Thanks for the information on the melatonin. I have started using it and love it. I have to take 10mg and I don't always stay asleep the entire time. However, I like it so much better than ambien. I hope I will be able to decrease my dosage soon. Even if I don't sleep a whole night, I am able to get up and function much better than I could with ambien. ...
  10. One idea is to set up shipments of supplies ahead of time to a post office at certain points. Especially in areas that don't have a great selection of gluten-free foods. I know it would be hard to figure out exactly when you will be somewhere, but that could reduce your shopping time and your load.
  11. Traveling and spontaneity for sure. I have not done much long distance travel yet, but I am nervous about that. I hate all the planning and packing I have to do to go on short trips to like my dad's house. I also do not like being the center of attention at all. All the questions and being singled out is not fun at all to me.
  12. This is how I make my chili. I am sure you can easily adapt your normal chili to fit. Most tomatoes and beans do not have gluten in them. Just be sure to stay away from the chili beans and such that have a sauce with them. Chili is easy to make gluten free 2 lbs of meat (prefer venison or bison) 1 onion, chopped 1 red bell pepper, chopped fresh jalepenos...
  13. I know this is an old post, but maybe this will help someone. I was looking into Frito's bean dip and it looks like their policies have changed since last year. There are a few more varieties that are tested for gluten. It sounds as though the top group are ran on dedicated lines and the bottom group is not, but I have not confirmed this. From their site...
  14. Hello! I am new to the board and only about 4 weeks gluten free, so I understand the stress of the holidays. What has helped me is pre-planning. Are your daughters gluten free for health reasons or out of convenience? If they cannot eat gluten, I would highly suggest you cooking your own meal for everyone either before Thanksgiving, as the others have mentioned...
