ARCHIVED Squash - Butternut, Pumpkin, Etc., -- I Have Gluten-Like Reaction - Anyone Else?
Britgirl replied to PeachBlossoms's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Actually I came across a forum like this one all about salicylate sensitivity. Here is the link: Open Original Shared Link Hope it helps some! I am doing some research on it myself as I've never heard of it before -
ARCHIVED Squash - Butternut, Pumpkin, Etc., -- I Have Gluten-Like Reaction - Anyone Else?
Britgirl replied to PeachBlossoms's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I was curious about this so I went and looked up a sensitivity to pumpkin for you. Apparently it's quite rich in salicylates, so if you are sensitive to that it may trigger you to get a reaction. -
ARCHIVED Even At The Hospital... People Don't Understand
Britgirl replied to DonnaMM's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I usually just tell them I am allergic to wheat when they don't get it. For some reason, people look at me like I have 3 heads when I say I have Celiac. -
ARCHIVED Bugger. Think I Got Glutened Last Night
Britgirl replied to Britgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Not entirely sure what it was, but I have a hunch my husband may have accidentally cross contaminated something with the regular pasta he served last night -
ARCHIVED Bugger. Think I Got Glutened Last Night
Britgirl posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had the worst heartburn, nausea and upset stomach last night. I am still hurting this morning. Ugh. Probiotics to the rescue! I have been so careful since I got my dx a couple of weeks ago, I could kick myself. -
ARCHIVED Why Do Some People Feel They *must* Have An Endoscopy?
Britgirl replied to Monklady123's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
And I disagree with you also. My mum has had them every year for the duration of her Celiac. In every case there has either been damage to her throat or the anesthesia didn't take. I know it's not the case for everyone, but still after seeing the result every year, I am glad I managed to avoid it. -
ARCHIVED Why Do Some People Feel They *must* Have An Endoscopy?
Britgirl replied to Monklady123's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am one of the lucky ones who got a positive blood test that confirmed my diagnosis. My mother is a super sensitive so that kind of sealed the deal for my MD. So glad I didn't have to go through the torture of an endo. -
ARCHIVED Sometimes I Wonder About My Husband And gluten-free Food
Britgirl replied to Britgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't know what it is about the cross contamination part of Celiac that evades people. I am rolling my eyes with you lol -
ARCHIVED Ugh! People Just. Don't. Get. It.
Britgirl replied to zus888's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
(((hugs))) I know what you are going through, I really do. My health has been tipped on it's head since getting my diagnoses last month. I now have not one but two incurable diseases. I have been an emotional mess trying to adjust to this new lifestyle, but what really makes the difference is having a supportive, loving social circle. They may not understand... -
ARCHIVED Sometimes I Wonder About My Husband And gluten-free Food
Britgirl replied to Britgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes, this exactly. I won't die straight away, but eating gluten is like slowly poisoning oneself. Very unpleasant indeed. -
ARCHIVED Sometimes I Wonder About My Husband And gluten-free Food
Britgirl replied to Britgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
He doesn't get the concept of cross contamination yet. He knows that I can't eat it but that is all he knows pretty much. We had a talk about it after our exchange -
ARCHIVED Sometimes I Wonder About My Husband And gluten-free Food
Britgirl posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I love my husband, I really do. But he is still a bit of a dummy when it comes to my disease and diet. He's been around Celiacs for almost a decade, he knows the ins and outs of it. We are going to his high school reunion next month and there is a buffet for the partygoers. Usual fare, rolls, salad, breaded fish, breaded chicken, pastries etc. He sent... -
Nope, that's not the one I'm talking about. Here is where you can read more on the subject: Open Original Shared Link Very knowledgeable over there. You will want to get the Igenex test done as this is more accurate and sensitive than the other tests available for Lyme.

Because Lyme is a systemwide infection, it can affect everything going on in your body. So you could have other things going on in your body that the Lyme spirochete has it's hand in so to speak. I am active on another forum just for Lyme disease and there are a ton of members there that can give you some answers to your questions. My best advice is to locate...

It is truly incredible what we think of as normal lol I am just starting down this road and can't wait to find a new normal

One month of meds doesn't cut it with Lyme unfortunately My MD has me on 4 months of Doxycycline to keep it in check. It is such a pesky spirochete that it hides from the antibiotic and can flare again way down the road. Might be worth finding a Lyme literate doctor who can run the IgeneX test for you. For my thyroid, my regular doctor said I was at...

You plug the USB into your computer and add the information from there. Save it on the USB stick and you're done.

ARCHIVED Worried About Calories, Refractory Sprue, And Basically Everything
Britgirl replied to Strawberry-Jam's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It does sound like you are a super sensitive. I have a friend who has many, many allergies similar to you and her diet had to undergo a huge overhaul. I am not sure where you are, but your symptoms sound suspiciously close to my Lyme Disease symptoms before I was diagnosed. It can wreak havoc on every single system in your body including neurological symptoms... -
My mum is super sensitive to gluten like others mentioned here. It is amazing how much gluten there is that's hidden or in things you didn't realise. I am not quite at that point yet, but am already discovering how frustrating it is trying to track things down that can harm you. As well as my Celiac, I am also hypothyroid and have Lyme. Actually, Lyme I think...

ARCHIVED A Body In Distress-Lyme/celiac
Britgirl replied to Britgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Oh, I must have missed that, duh. Noob alert lol Thanks Patti for the thread link -
I am just curious if any of you have Lyme alongside Celiac? I received a strong positive on my Lyme Western Blot in late August followed up by a strong positive on my gluten antibodies test this week. I am not sure how much of this my body can handle. I am feeling very overwhelmed trying to get hings in check. I am also have hypothyroidism with pre diabetic...

I would definitely ask for more testing and see a nutritionist who specialises in food allergies. Something sounds like it is triggering your system into overdrive.
-
Personally, I would donate it and buy yourself a new one. I know my regular breadmaker has flour and crumbs everywhere in it, not just in the paddle and tin.

You may want to read up on both Paleo and Primal style diets. There are several reference books and cookbooks which are becoming my go to for meal planning. Eating gluten-free is a lot easier with it being so mainstream these days. My mum was diagnosed with Celiac 10 years ago and it was very hard trying to find gluten-free stuff then. It's so simple nowadays...
