  1. Ugh, too bad about that idiot store guy. Anyway, I really like the Ener-g pretzels (sesame and regular) but they come in such small bags. The Glutino ones are pretty good and I usually get them because they come in a normal size bag.
  2. Thanks Barbara! I thought of you when I was eating there. I've always loved that restaurant anyway (by far my fave chinese place of all time) and I was thrilled! They say right on the menu that special dietary requests are carefully accomdated, and they aren't kidding.
  3. I'm in my (late) 20's as well, but I have to say that I haven't had too much trouble with people regarding celiac disease overall. My husband's family have really been the only ones to have a strange reaction ("can't she just take some benadryl?").
  4. Well, there's Grandma Ferdon's foods in Hayward. Since you live in WI shipping is $12.95 for up to 25lbs of food and it generally comes in one day. Here is my entire celiac archive: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  5. Hi Amanda! I see that you are in Madison, so I thought I'd jump in and give you a couple Madison area resources. (My dad lives in Madison and I grew up in Stoughton, but I live in Chippewa Falls now). Whole foods on University has some gluten-free stuff, so does the Magic Mill (also on University). Magic Mill tends to be a little cheaper, but Whole Foods...
  6. I'd like it too, please! pehlkec@uwstout.edu
  7. Timberwolf Organics makes a grain free food as well.
  8. The Imperial Garden restaurant (west on University Ave, not the one by East Towne mall) stocks gluten-free soy sauce and will make virtually any dish gluten-free on request. The food is fantastic and the waitress knew exactly what I was talking about when I asked for gluten-free. Highly recommended.
  9. Innova Evo* Nature's Variety (New Zealand Venison) Natural Balance (Sweet Potato and Fish*, Potato and Duck*, Venison and Rice) * grain free Natural Balance is available at Petco

    ARCHIVED Dh

    Well, it does for me.
  11. That would be my husband. And I don't ever worry about stinking up the bathroom, compared to him I smell like flowers.
  12. LOL!! Now we ALL know! I know I haven't been getting gluten, this is just the way it goes. Before going gluten-free it was way worse, and not only that but the stools were NOT good. Now the only real problem is the discomfort and the urgency to go, but I guess it isn't really a problem after all. (now my dogs will be humiliated by this post)
  13. Oh, ok. So it's more like regular cramps but in your legs? I get really bad cramps, but not like that in my legs. Just tons of charlie horses.
  14. When you guys talk about getting cramps in your legs, do you mean cramps like charlie horses? During that time of the month if I move wrong I get a charlie horse; feet, legs, back wherever.
  15. I'm just wondering if I'm "normal" or if there is something else that I should be thinking about here. Does this sound familiar? When I have to go, it's very uncomfortable bordering on painful and I have to go NOW. There is no waiting a few minutes. If I'm downstairs on the computer and the urge hits I have to sprint upstairs to the bathroom. I also go...
  16. When I was in high school I worked in the kitchen at a nursing home. The only special meals I remember anyone preparing were the pureed foods and thickened liquids. They would not have been able to make gluten-free meals (unless they made gluten-free for everyone) at the place that I worked, we had 2 ladies doing all the cooking for around 200 residents....
  17. Are there any family members close enough to bring her meals?
  18. Yes, for the last few years.
  19. I added the optional pineapple to the honey sesame chicken, very good. I recommend it. I was so depressed because I thought I would never be able to have the kind of chinese that I love again, I'm so happy to have found this stuff! In fact, the only reason I really paid attention to it at the store was because of your post. I walked past it hundreds of...
  20. So far I've made the spicy szechuan and the honey sesame chicken. I'm totally in love with this stuff, and I've never tried it before! It tastes just like takeout food and I'm going to eat it every night until I barf.

  22. Ok, that totally made me squirm in my chair! You poor thing!
  23. YES!!!! Some of them are. I called the company and the lady told me a couple that are gluten-free over the phone (Honey Sesame Chicken, Curry Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork, Spicy Sechuan (sp?) Chicken) and she told me that she would mail me a complete list of all their gluten-free products. I made the Honey Sesame Chicken last night and it was SOOOOOOOO...
