How Long Does It Take For Skin To Clear Up?
frenchiemama replied to carrielynn's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Yes, it's something that I take all the time. Eventually I'm hoping that I won't need it anymore, but in the mean time I break out for several weeks with even the slightest gluten accident and this is the only thing that has been really working for me. Make sure you put a high spf sunscreen on him every time he goes outside. -
How Long Does It Take For Skin To Clear Up?
frenchiemama replied to carrielynn's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Antihistamines never worked for my DH. Now I'm taking 500mg of Tetracycline and 500mg of B3 twice a day and it's keeping my DH in check, even when I have gluten. Also be aware that sunlight and iodine can worsen the rash. -
ARCHIVED Extremely Personal........females Only!
frenchiemama replied to Mahee34's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Is the problem related to dryness? Maybe you should check into sjogren's syndrome. Also, when you talked to your gyn did she/he suggest having your hormone levels tested? -
How Long Does It Take For Skin To Clear Up?
frenchiemama replied to carrielynn's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I would say that it took at least 8 weeks for me to start seeing improvement. But if I had any gluten it would be several weeks of breaking out. -
ARCHIVED Grossest Gf Moment Yet...
frenchiemama replied to misskris's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
GROSS!!!! You should call the store and tell them what happened, they need to get rid of the rest of that stuff. -
ARCHIVED Yay! Dad Is Finally Seeing The Light!
frenchiemama posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My dad almost certainly has celiac. Not only do I have it, but his first cousin does and I suspect that my grandma does as well (she used to always have to get B12 shots because of fatigue and had severe osteoporosis by the time she was in her early 60's). He has symptoms, and has been to the doctor numerous times for testing and they never found anything... -
Well, the instructions say to take it on an empty stomach so that's what I've been doing. I can ask the pharmacist if taking with food is ok. I'll try the teas, thanks!

What to do? I'm on a medication that makes me nauseous. It's not severe where I'm throwing up or anything, but it's unpleasant and I'm having trouble eating because of it. Any home remedies?

The word "sprue" makes me think of plastic injection molding. -
Grandma Ferdon's
frenchiemama replied to BamBam's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Congratulations on your wedding! Those donut holes are the best aren't they? I could just eat a whole bag. I found Grandma Ferdon's at a store near me, too. They don't carry everything that I like but they carry the bread I like, several desserts, donuts and donut holes, pizza, and of course my beloved cinnamon rolls! -

OH, ok. I was picturing myself standing in the shower with a giant fizzy mess on my head. -
ARCHIVED Looking For "all Natural/chemical Free" Products
frenchiemama replied to jenvan's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm not sure if I'd want to mix baking soda and vinegar on my head though! Don't you remember the "volcanoes" from grade school science class? I have a good suggestion if you have hard floors and want to reduce chemical cleaners. I recently got a Bissell steam mop and I love it! It does a wonderful job cleaning and only uses tap water. -

Grandma Ferdon's
frenchiemama replied to BamBam's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The shipping really isn't bad IF you live in the upper midwest. I live around an hour away from Hayward, so I usually just drive up there but with gas prices the way they are it's getting to the point where delivery is cheaper. I pay $12.95 for up to 25lbs and get it the very next day, pretty sweet deal. Might I recommend the cinnamon rolls, they are REALLY... -
ARCHIVED Walmart Going Gluten Free
frenchiemama replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Everywhere. Sadly, you just have to pick and choose which things offend you the most and just deal with the rest. (otherwise we wouldn't be able to eat or shop anywhere!) I have no idea about the price differences between the various home improvement stores, because of course we only have Menard's. -
ARCHIVED Walmart Going Gluten Free
frenchiemama replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Oh, and no offense to Barbara. I wasn't picking on you for going to Menard's (like I said, I'm forced to shop there too). I just saw "menard's" and lost all control of myself! -
ARCHIVED Walmart Going Gluten Free
frenchiemama replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ha! Wanna talk about places that are worth hating? I hate Menard's so much. For one thing, John Menard is a rude jerk who thinks that the sun shines out of his butt. He has been on the city council for about 100 years and has thus far been successful in keeping any other home improvement stores from opening anywhere near here. A couple of years ago the Home... -
ARCHIVED Possible Help For Those Who Can't Take Dapsone.
frenchiemama posted a topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I went to my dermatologist about 2 weeks ago, and she started me on a new regimine that is supposed to help with breakouts the way that dapsone does. I'm taking 500mg of tetracycline and 500mg of nicotinamide twice a day. Today is the first day that I think I have evidence that it is actually working. I think I got glutened a little last night, and I HAVEN... -

Nancy, your son must live near my dad. My dad lives right off University on Stevens St (hope nobody stalks him now! ). Thanks for the dog compliment! I have three little FB's, and I just adore them. Two females and a male. -
ARCHIVED Do You Think Of Yourself As A "sick" Person?
frenchiemama replied to frenchiemama's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Emerald. I'm very sorry to hear of all your troubles, but maybe I can help you with just this one! There are several breeds of dogs that are generally ok for people with allergies, however no one breed is going to be ok with every single person. Are you allergies so severe that you don't want to risk meeting some new dogs? If you would be ok risking... -
