ARCHIVED Anybody Need A Roomate?
frenchiemama replied to Emme999's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This weekend my mom (who is normally very good) had a cookout because my sister was coming to visit (she only comes a few times a year). My sister is vegan, so of course everything my mom made was geared toward her. I got there and asked what things I could eat. My mom just kind of stopped and stared at the table for a minute and said "Oh gosh, I guess there... -
I have no idea if this is possibly celiac disease/DH related, but I get boils all the freaking time. Right now I have 4. I know that it's possibly related to my DH because I do tend to get secondary infections, but they generally aren't in places where I have DH (under my arms for example). It just seems a little odd that I never had one in my life until...

ARCHIVED Just Back From Doctor's
frenchiemama replied to julie5914's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Actually there are a couple, when I first found out I had it I posted and asked. I put a bunch of celiac info and links in my bio and just the other day someone paged me because she thought she had it and needed some help finding gluten-free products. Small world, huh? -

Hey, you're on The Nest aren't you? I remember your post about this the other day. No idea that you were a celiac too. -
ARCHIVED Could This Be Cd?
frenchiemama replied to lushgreen's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Most of your symptoms sound pretty familiar to me. The fatigue for sure. There has been quite a few times that I have had to pull my car off the road because I was so tired that I just couldn't keep my eyes open (in the middle of the day!). The "infection" and eczema. I can't tell you how many times my DH was misdiagnosed as an infection. If I had to... -
ARCHIVED Having A Hard Time Coping
frenchiemama replied to Diosa's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Are you ok with dairy? I say this all the time, but the best gluten-free bread and baked goods I have found are from Grandma Ferdons (www.grandmaferdons.com). She uses corn and potato for almost everything. The egg bread is my favorite, but it does have milk. -
ARCHIVED Familiar With These Restaurants?
frenchiemama replied to frenchiemama's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Wow, check out the response I recieved from the Napa Valley Grille! Thank you for thinking of coming to Napa Valley Grille. Depending on whether you are in at lunch or dinner we have a several items on our menu that are gluten free. We also are happy to modify most of our existing menu items to meet your dietary restrictions. Let us know when you are coming... -
I'm having a breakout right now from being glutened at a restaurant last week. Did it say how much magnesium? That would be great if it could really help the rash.

ARCHIVED Need Some Help...
frenchiemama replied to wondering's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
"I'm learning to rely less on my doctors and more on what I know to be true with my own body, and the experiences of others." Same here. I don't have a whole lot of faith in doctors since I was told that my DH was "all in my head". Please. If you feel better on the gluten-free diet, by all means continue it no matter what the doctors say. Many doctors... -
ARCHIVED So How Careful Are You Anyway?
frenchiemama posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm just wondering about this, because I use several things that state "processed in a plant that also processes wheat" and I can think of a couple products that other people have reported reactions to but I still use them because I haven't had a problem. However I'm not terribly sensitive, I will get sick if I eat a plate of something w/gluten but I'm... -
ARCHIVED Eating Gluten-free By Shreve Stockton
frenchiemama replied to Gwendolene's topic in Publications & Publicity
I have it, and it's ok. Some of the recipes are decent, but in all honesty I haven't opened that book since the week I got it. I don't remember any really inaccurate info, but one thing that did annoy me was her insistance that people not use splenda (sucralose) because it is a "chemical compound". Um ok lady, regular sugar is a chemical compound! Everything... -
ARCHIVED Blue Diamond Almond Milk
frenchiemama replied to frenchiemama's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I tried the chocolate flavor today, really good! Yummy! That recipe sounds really good too, unfortunately I'm probably too lazy to ever try it. Who knows though, inspiration might strike when I least expect it. -
ARCHIVED Source Of Dh Other Than Gluten?
frenchiemama replied to VegasCeliacBuckeye's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I have read about the iodine patch test too, I think that it works sometimes but it's not totally reliable because it doesn't work for everyone (at least that's what I've gathered from my reading). I was tempted to experiment on myself, but do I really want to itch in the name of science? -

GNC makes a gluten-free multi with no iodine, that's what I take. -
ARCHIVED Blue Diamond Almond Milk
frenchiemama replied to frenchiemama's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
MMM! I just tried it (the plain), and it really is a lot better than the Pacific. I was buying Pacific because it was labelled gluten-free, but the store I went to last night didn't have it. Now I'm glad! -

Thanks! I want to try the chocolate, but I didn't want to get it right away in case it was gross. -
ARCHIVED Gf After 3 Years And Still Not "better"

Have you been tested for any other food allergies or intolerances? That would be the first place I would look. -

Does anyone know if this is gluten-free? If not, what brand do you like? -
On another chat board that I belong to I have my celiac story and a bunch of information and links about celiac in my community bio. I have had a couple people seek me out to ask questions about it and I have referred them here. I also talk to everyone who will listen about it, so now every one I work with (including a bunch of the truck drivers) are very...

ARCHIVED Gf Aspirin
frenchiemama replied to debmidge's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
BC is the brand name as far as I know. It's little paper packets with powdered aspirin inside, about the size of a stick of gum. You can either just drop it on your tongue and wash it down with water or mix it with a SMALL amount of water and gulp it down. It actually doesn't taste as bad as you might think, and I love how quickly it works. -
Right now, my finger is so covered with blisters I can't bend it and every time I try the skin cracks at the knuckles. Ouch! See, that's what I have too. The blisters on my fingers and knuckles (also on my palms occasionally) are different than the ones that I have elsewhere. The skin on my knuckles cracks and is very painful, and I get clusters...

I have DH on my elbows, knees, ankles, lower back, hips, sometimes face, sometimes scalp and hands. However I have something on my fingers and occasionally my palms that looks just like one of the pictures in that link you posted. I suspect that I have that too. About your infections, have you been on anti-biotics yet? If not, get thee to a physician post...
