  1. I'm starting to feel better today. I'm still very tired and lethargic feeling, but except for the DH my other symptoms are clearing up. Thanks everyone for the replies!
  2. Still feeling like a dried out turd on a bad stretch of road. I'm sitting here on the verge of tears for no reason, I've been snapping at my husband (who does NOT deserve it), I feel like I've spent the last 3.5 days in the bathroom and I'm tired and itchy. How long does this normally last for you all?
  3. Oh, also Lundberg rice chips. How could I forget?
  4. Grandma Ferdon's is my absolute favorite. I actually don't really buy any other gluten-free processed food besides some Amy's meals and soups and Imagine butternut squash soup.
  5. I've had menstrual problems as well, and have experienced some changes since going gluten-free. As far as the Mirena, my doctor told me that it is the estrogen in bc pills that is to blame for the increased health risk (I'm getting one soon). Since Mirena uses progesterone (sp?) and also is not systemic like the pill it shouldn't have those extra risks associated...
  6. I've been doing a lot of reading on DH in the last month, and from what I've read it sounds like a very few people can begin breaking out just after they go gluten-free. Not very common though, I would go to the doc and make sure it isn't something like impetigo or an allergic reaction to something else.
  7. I was tested for celiac, I was actually not tested for DH but it's clear that it's what I have. I've actually never heard of anyone having DH but not having celiac disease, although it may be possible.
  8. I've had DH for 2 years, but was only properly diagnosed last month. I don't know how much info on DH you have, but avoid iodine at least for a while. I can tell right away if I've had iodized salt or even too much sea salt. DH is ideopathic, it seems to have a life of it's own. In the 2 years I've had it there have been some times when it has been almost...
  9. Also, once you start seeing some results it will all seem worth it. A month ago I was ready to claw my own skin off because of itching from DH, and now it is almost gone. It has given me a ton more willpower.
  10. I know how you feel. I've been gluten-free for just over a month now. At first I totally freaked out thinking I wouldn't be able to eat anything. I really don't like to cook, I love to eat out and my biggest problem was that we love to travel. I've just been forcing myself to cook more, and I get food from www.grandmaferdons.com which is driving distance...
  11. Thank you Belle! Those all look wonderful!
  12. I was told that I had eczema on my hands, but it is actually DH. Not on my scalp though.
  13. I'm looking for a good mexican-style dip recipe, preferably one that is served warm. Anyone?
  14. British Isles Mutt with some German. Maternal Grandmother's family from England, Maternal Grandfather's family from Germany, Paternal Grandmother's family from Ireland and Paternal Grandfather's family from Scotland. My mom, sister, brother, mom's 4 siblings and me are all redheads.
  15. And I married someone who won't touch anything but Miller Lite! I'm the beer snob in this house. What I wouldn't do for a Spotted Cow.
  16. Please do let us know! I can't get it anywhere in the state, but there are 2 stores I want to talk to about carrying it. I'm a woman who loves her beer.
  17. If I were you, I would just go ahead and start the diet and see how you feel. It's possible to be gluten sensitive without having celiac. I think there are several people on this board who were never "officially" diagnosed, but have gone gluten-free and feel much better.
  18. Do you want my honest opinion? No. It's not nearly as bad as something like Ol' Roy, but it's not worth the outrageous amount that they charge for it. For about the same price, you can get a MUCH better quality food that will be better for your animals and you will feed less of it. For cats I would recommend Innova EVO for cats (I'm not sure of the...
  19. I don't have any specific knowledge on the Wendy's salads, but I do know that things that are potential allergens come in separate packets (like nuts or croutons).
  20. Well, in my family we have a pretty good grapevine so I only told about 4 people and the rest took care of itself. I sent the articles from csaceliacs because I liked the way they explained things. Then my aunt (who is the head of a library at a medical school) inundated the whole family with about a million med journal articles.
  21. Another one I forgot is Nature's Variety New Zealand Venison. It uses millet and pumpkin seed. Here is a site that lists the top canned and dry foods: Open Original Shared Link These are usually smaller companies who have excellent customer service if you have any questions on their ingredients. Wysong makes some 100% meat canned foods that are...
  22. Yes you are right, chocolate is a big no-no. I didn't mention raisins but I should have, they are actually worse than grapes.
  23. Also, for anyone who has concerns about treats - I never give my dogs store bought treats. I give them apple, carrots, cheese and sardines. You cannot give your dog avocado, onion or grapes, but most other fruits and veggies are fine and the dogs love them.
