  1. Well I went out and got myself some SPF 50 today, and I don't intend on going out in daylight hours without it. Let's see if that makes a difference.
  2. Does a higher SPF sunscreen help at all? I'll slather myself with SPF 35 three times a day if I need to. Right now I use 20 (but admittedly, not every time I go outside. That changes today though).
  3. I use BC Powdered aspirin. It works really fast too.
  4. Yes, it does me. (Unless I also have something like polymorphic light eruptions in addition to DH). I have come to the conclusion this week that sunlight worsens my DH. I've noticed before that it always seemed to get worse in the spring and summer (leading my doctor to believe that it was an allergy). But this week it really became clear. I normally work...
  5. My dad lives about 4 blocks from there! Awesome, now I can check it out when I visit. I was wondering if they had a bake shop at that store.
  6. Do you use iodized salt? That is a biggie. Do your vitamins contain iodine? Also something that I read recently is that sun exposure can trigger an outbreak. I wouldn't have believed it except that I have been having problems lately and it all started with being out in the sun more. I normally work the night shift (11p-7:30a) but one of my co-irkers was...
  7. There is no Outback by the dells. There is one in LaCrosse, one in Wausau, two in Madison and two in Milwaukee.
  8. I really wish I could be more helpful on this. I only live maybe an hour and a half away from the dells, but I never ever go there. Here is a list of all the restaurants there though, with phone numbers. If your family is local maybe they can call around for you. Open Original Shared Link
  9. I buy all my bread (I get the egg bread, terrific), baked goodies (the cinnamon rolls and donuts are to die for) and steak pasties from www.grandmaferdons.com. If you live outside the midwest the shipping terms are less favorable, but if you decide to order the food is excellent. Everything is totally made from scratch and there is zero chance of contamination...
  10. Sex: Female Age: 28 Date started gluten free diet: 4-21-05 Suffer from the following on a regular basis since starting treatment: Constipation - no Diarrhoea - only when glutened Abdominal pain - only when glutened Indigestion - occasionally, but I used to have it every day Acid reflux - no Other related problems -dermatitis herpetiformis...
  11. It bothers me a little to see it referred to as an allergy in an article, because I feel like the writers must not have done any real research on the subject at all. If you aren't going to bother to find out the facts on something, why write about it at all? What really bothers me though, is when people think that I'm on the atkins diet (or some such BS...
  12. The only gluten-free bread I will ever buy again is Grandma Ferdon's egg bread. I wasted so much money on absolute crap before I tried this stuff. Even my husband said it was good. Depending on where you are shipping can be a real PITA, but if you happen to be in the upper midwest it's reasonable. www.grandmaferdons.com If you decide to order anything...
  13. Barbara3675~~~ Where do you live in Northern WI? Anywhere near Eau Claire? If so, Festival Foods in EC has a great gluten-free selection.
  14. The stuff I love the most is from Grandma Ferdon's. It's local, but she does have her stuff at several grocery stores in the area. www.grandmaferdons.com I really like Amy's frozen meals and soups. Also Imagine makes some really good soups.
  15. My husband's co-irker's son is starting his own microbrewery within the next year. I talked to him, and he said that he will try to brew some gluten-free beer for me! If it turns out well he intends to sell it from his brewery, which will be in Wisconsin (because how am I supposed to live in WI without beer?)
  16. I would just contact the manufacturer.
  17. I buy my vitamins at GNC, because they are all labelled gluten-free and it just makes me feel better.
  18. Just get plain aloe vera. You can even use it straight from the plant. (I'm a very fair redhead, so I know plenty about sunburn)
  19. I would be very hesitant to take dietary advice from a chiropractor.
  20. Does this apply to their plain yogurt, or just the flavored ones? I only use the plain.
  21. Oh bummer! I really hope you feel better soon
  22. NO! That does not sound right! I'm 28 years old and it sure as heck is affecting me now. I can think back to when I was about 17 that I started having the first symptoms. If you just put it off until you are in your 40's you will most likely be in a world of hurt by then. Going gluten-free now will mean better health for the rest of your life. I don't...
  23. Those other foods do seem more expensive on the surface, but gluten aside they are SO much better for your dog. You feed a lot less too. If I was giving my dogs something crappy like Iams I would be feeding them each 1/3 more food per day, and if I was giving them something gawdawful like Beneful I would be feeding them twice what I do and their health would...
  24. So if this panned out, and rendered gluten totally harmless, would you guys go back to a regular diet? I'm not sure I would. I've come to the conclusion that wheat isn't particularly good for anyone and I've felt so good since going gluten-free that I don't think I'd revert to my pre-diagnosis way of eating. I might use it before eating out at a restaurant...
  25. Can that really be true? I wonder if it's something that you can just take right before you eat like a lactaid, or if it's a daily treatment.
