    ARCHIVED Reading

Yeah, I mean floof and Fabio romance. I like the Wuthering Heights, Rebecca type. I binge read. Right now it's all Sci Fi/Fantasy, in a couple months it might be thrillers etc but I will read anything I can get my hands on rather than not read. I have a number of books lined up to read, Tuesday's With Morrie, What They Carried and one of my daughters books...
  2. I just finished freezing 34 bags of corn so we will have a late supper. Thin crust pizza with Mozzarella, spinach and fresh basil. Maybe some Ice Cream after.
  3. We are going to attempt homemade corn dogs tonight. With some kind of salad on the side.
  4. A friend took me to dinner at Caprese the other night as payment for house sitting. It's 100% gluten-free. It was fantastic. It was pouring rain and not too many people so we stayed at least 2 hours. It was my first time eating out anywhere since going gluten-free last year. I was nervous but kept telling myself it was safe. I was also kind of excited...

    ARCHIVED Reading

This made me laugh out loud. I do that too. Here they are in French and English. When people are surprised I don't speak French I say, "But I can read French." I'll read anything except Romance usually.
  6. This was posted on my Facebook today. Rules to live by.
  7. Tonight was a pasta bake with fresh veg on the side.
  8. I had a cat named Gracie. She was so smart. She would pick up a toy and bring it and put it in your hand and push down. You had to throw it for her and then she would do it again and again. You will never be catless again.
  9. I worked a nursing home for a while and all baked stuff/desserts were brought in frozen. We would sit them out to thaw and then someone would portion them. Good luck to you in you job hunt.
  10. Congratulations! You are now owned by a cat. Enjoy it, they are a treat. Just wait until he/she starts typing.
  11. Around here they call them Indian Tacos or Bannock Tacos and they sell them at all the Pow Wows. I posted a recipe for the fried version but there is a baked version, just do a search.

    ARCHIVED Bannock

I just noticed I made an error in this recipe. When you flatten the dough it should be 1/2 inch not 1 1/2 inch. Sorry.
  13. Bannock is Indian Fry Bread. You slice them in half and put anything "taco" on them. I posted a recipe for Bannock about a week ago.
  14. Tonight I want baked pork ribs with sauerkraut but I need to get my butt out the door. Otherwise, chicken.
  15. Steak on the BBQ, steamed new potatoes and steamed green beans and mushrooms sauteed in butter.
  16. Shepherds pie and broccoli.
  17. You can actually play music with his muscles using your keyboard . Near the end of the video.
  18. I was curious about this so looked it up. While traditional homemade doenjang is made with soybeans and brine only, many factory-made variants of doenjang contain a fair amount of wheat flour just like most factory-made soy sauce does. Some current makers also add fermented, dried, and ground anchovies to accentuate the doenjang's savory flavor. Open...
  19. Hi Avid, welcome and a big hug to you. I am allergic to wheat too. I know it can be very hard at first. I had to quit my job in a bakery. I was pretty down for a while too but remember it is really not so bad once you get adjusted. You will be eating healthier than ever. You came to the right place, there are a lot of helpful, knowledgeable people...
  20. Tonight is a simple chili with bannock.
  21. Thanks! My daughter will love you for this. I was actually looking at it in the store yesterday wishing I could eat it.
  22. My kids were missing Bannock so I tried making some this morning. It came out pretty darn good. I used BRM AP. I don't like the bean taste so will try again with a different mix. 1 1/3 to 1 1/2 cup gluten-free all purpose flour 1 rounded Tablespoon baking soda 1 1/2 teaspoons Xanthan gum 1 cup water (don't add all at once) Mix well all dry ingredients...
