  1. Our local Loblaws store has chickens for .99 a pound. I bought five yesterday, they are nice and plump. So I am roasting a chicken tonight and some pasta salad and something else but not sure what yet.

  3. I have a wheat allery and had a Timmies coffee and had a severe reaction. I guess the flour is in the air and settles on the cups and every thing else. I would not risk it again.
  4. Yes, I noticed that too. I did buy other products and the labels are ok. It makes me nervous though.
  5. I just came from Walmart. They sell Wholesome Goodness products. Many are Gluten Free but their Yukon Snack Mix states that it is gluten free but also says that it contains wheat. Read the labels carefully. I am sending an email to the company.
  6. We are having a glorious hot sunny weekend here. I made Taco Salad and again, watermelon for dessert.

  9. I made these corn dog bites. I used a gluten-free cornbread mix and buttermilk. They were a big hit.
  10. I did barbecue pork burgers with swiss cheese and corn on the cob with watermelon before and after.
  11. Nothing special tonight. My kids haven't learned gluten-free cooking yet. We have a hug pot of chili and some biscuits from last night. And I am working on a bottle of wine from my son. Happy Mothers Day everyone.

  13. Ewww, the brownies were horrible. I made them from the El Peto mix. Any recommendations for a better brownie mix?
  14. Fried chicken, mashed potatoes with milk gravy and sauteed zucchini. Brownies for dessert.
  15. My grandmother always made fried white cornbread. Cook white cornmeal with water and salt until very thick. Put it all in a well greased cast iron frying pan. (I use my small pan.) Fry on medium low until lightly browned and then flip and cook the other side. Cut in pie shapes and slice open and butter.
  16. I had my dessert before dinner too. Lime sorbet. We had pork kabobs, rice and corn.

    I just finished reading The Doomsday Key by James Rollins. It's fiction with religion, history and science, an action thriller. It was fascinating, all about GM crops, especially corn and how they are doing it to control over population. At the end of the book he tells the reader what is true and not true. Way to much of it is true.
  18. I am allergic to wheat and chemicals and have these symptoms. They come and go and range from one extreme to another pain wise. It depends on the amount of exposure. It took me nearly four years to figure out that it was allergies for me. It's possible you have allergies, maybe try another type of allergy pill? It also sounds like it might be migraines...

  21. Slow cooking a corned beef brisket with red potatoes, carrots and cabbage. It's a grey day and damp so it will warm my bones.

  23. I made this last week for the first time. Did you pre cook the crust then add toppings and bake some more? Maybe you should check your oven temp to see if it is accurate. I also tried Duinkerkan (sp) pizza crust mix and loved it. No pre- cooking and came out perfect. I got it at Walmart.
  24. I am sooo wishing it was summer. Had flurries yesterday Ribs, corn on the cob, Mexican bean salad and turnip/rutabaga and green apple salad. Raspberry sorbet for dessert. Oh and can't forget the beer.
