    ARCHIVED What Could It Be?

Oh I have. I am fully gluten-free. It's is too hard to just avoid wheat. I have not even had oats since the beginning, can't find any gluten-free oats yet. Corn meal either so I am just using gluten-free corn flour for tortillas . I have started a list and will keep adding as I remember things and come up with questions. Thanks IH.

Yes, I thought it would help if I put that info in the signature. I have been thinking about allergy and celiac this week, thinking to post some questions when I got them sorted in my head. My first Doc appt. she wanted me to get tested for Celiac. I said I don't have that, it's an allergy. Besides I would rather put a gun to my head than eat wheat...
  7. We actually ended up having a discussion about how gluten-free flours had a better flavor than wheat flour and he commented that what we were eating now was so much better than before gluten-free.

  13. The best thing to do is look on the bottles and you will find a 1-800 number. Call and ask. You can do a search at the top of this forum and a google search. Always check the date of the info it could be years old and companies change their formulas. I am allergic to wheat and very sensitive. I use Jergens lotion with no problems. I am now using Garnier...

I can only speak for myself but I have a wheat allergy and I touch my face a lot in a day. Rub my eyes etc. If I touch something and a crumb gets on my hand and then rub my eye well there ya go. I am working really hard at not touching my face so much.
  17. Care to share your recipe? Tonight I had oven mac and cheese, leftover meatloaf and swiss chard.

That is interesting, I would think pesticides too. The only tomatoes I have had since going gluten-free were from the garden of two different people. Green ones to make chutney. I became ill and the tomatoes ripened and I ate some and was nauseous right away. I called the neighbor who got them for me and she checked with the gardeners and they said they...
  20. They tested 50 gluten beers, 8 gluten free beers and 2 low gluten beers. The 8 gluten-free beers tested fine, under 20ppm. the low gluten beers tested above. What they found when testing the "low-gluten" beers is enough to cause health problems for people with gluten allergies. According to their report, the low-gluten beers contained just as much hordein...
  21. Thanks for all this info. I think I will try Omega 3 for a while before changing shampoo again. I was using Suave and my hair got pretty dry so switched to Pantene and it didn't help so switched to Garnier Fructus Pure. I like it better, hair is softer but the itch and burn is still there. How much Omega 3 should I take?
  22. Breaded chicken fingers with mayo, honey and dill dipping sauce and broccoli with lemon and roasted sweet potatoes with a touch of maple syrup.
  23. I am very sensitive and have tried my local bulk barn and it's been fine. I go to the one at Gloucester Shopping Centre, or South Keys Ottawa. All the gluten-free stuff is on the opposite side of the store from gluten stuff near the front. I have only bought the bulk stuff because I am staying away from packaged for now. I really like their pancake blend...
  24. Since I can't eat tomato right now I keep craving foods with it in them Again, I am not much for measuring but I will try. Lamb Pie Pie crust, for top and bottom A pound of ground lamb, browned. Small can of tomatoes, cubed. Feta cheese, large chunks. 1/3 cup? (not too much) Fresh spinach, maybe 1 cup. Bread crumbs. Salt and pepper...
  25. What brand did you use? I have a burning itch all the time on the left side of my head. It eases sometimes but never goes away. No rash or redness or flakes. Gets worse when I have wheat cc. I was also thinking a dandruff shampoo might help. All my hair products are gluten-free.
