  6. I am a stay at home mom from the akron/canton area in Ohio and I am wanting so bad to get my 2.5yr old son into a play group/support group with kids his age or older. He plays very well and he's a nice boy! I'm slightly new to Gluten Free and I'd like to have other mom's to chat with and get advice from. I'd also like to have a SAFE play date for my son...
  7. I'm sorry your DH isn't being supportive. I think he should talk to the doctor but ALSO talk to someone with celiac. If he understood the pain and suffering his daugher may be going through, maybe that would help him understand. Our son has celiac but my husband and I don't. As parents, we have to put our wants aside sometimes and do what's best for our kids...
  8. 1st visit to the Pediatric GI for my 2.5yr old son. Us: How is Glute Free Food? Doc: It's horrible. I'd have to kill myself if i couldn't have regular pasta. I'm glad my son was too little to pay any attention to him. He's still a good doctor though....just alittle ODD!

  15. My son also had he distended belly but he was losing weight very fast. Maybe she doesn't have Celiac and it's gluten intolerance?? My son also had White/cream/grey stool for 2 months! then finally the dr. ordered a celiac test. He was very very positive! BUT THAT COLOR STOOL IS NOT NORMAL and you should take a sample with you and take her to the pediatrician...
  16. My son was a very picky eater before going gluten free. He craved Cream of Wheat all time! ( that's if he would eat) After going gluten free, He'll eat anything! And he's more willing to try new things. I think it's because they are learning they can trust food. And it's making them feel good:) I dont know the science of it but i bet that's not a coinsidence...
  17. Congrats! you gotta do whats right for her! Go with what YOU know.
  18. I felt very much the same when we started gluten free!!It just feels like something is missing and nothing really "hits the stop". I don't know how long your son has been Gluten-Free, but the feeling will wear off in about a month or 2 when his body realizes it's living off something else. My son ate so much food when we first went Gluten-Free as well but...
  19. stephanieL, I'll ask the teacher if they use tools. If they do, then maybe I'll have to get Cale his own. And yes i agree that the parents will do better if i go through the school. I was going to ask the teacher to send our a letter if she think's it's best. I got that suggestion off of a gluten free mom site Great idea for the snack bucket! I dont think...
  20. My son was >139 and the GI dr said he didnt even need to do the biopsy to confirm. He said, once it breaks the threshold of 100 it's absolutely positive. If the diet works and u get good results from your daughter gaining weight/feeling better/improving, that's the most important!!
  21. Thank you for all this great advice! We are meeting with the preschool teacher next week. Since it's a private school, they have early signup. 23. Me, my husband and son have been gluten-free since january 6th and it seems like this week was the worst for us. Our son is complaining of not feeling good and wanted to sleep alot, and I feel exhausted all the time now! and my husband felt like throwing up as well. I never thought that it might be the detox from gluten.
  24. I thought i was the only one! My son was recently diagnosed with Celiac and my husband and I have never shown any symptoms. We all decided to go gluten free for him! but since we've started, i feel like i could stay in bed all day and sleep even though i got a full 7-9 hrs of pure sleep. My husband is also feeling the same way. Our celiac son is actually...
  25. My son loves plain vanilla yogurt and it's usually low in fat so I actually add 1-2 Tbs of heavy cream to his yogurt cup and that adds 100 extra calories!! It tastes the same:) I also sneak in heavy cream to his milk, eggs, or anything that might need milk. You can sneak it in oatmeal too! If your child will drink milk shakes, There are great high calorie...
