Isn't that fraudulent, withholding information when applying for an insurance? -

On this forum it looks like there are many people self-diagnosed and that they are very active. -
ARCHIVED How Many People Self-Diagnose?
benXX replied to JenniBea's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
clearly the keyword is "body" and "my body doesn't know" has not the same meaning as "I don't know" And it is about knowing the difference between "by accident or on purpose" -
ARCHIVED How Many People Self-Diagnose?
benXX replied to JenniBea's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Not only for me, for most. Just in human nature that life is easier without doubts. And there is a lot of positive power from doctors, employers, friends, family-members taking your celiac to be a fact. If a gluten challenge becomes life threatening or really unbearable, of course a person needs to contact his/her doctor and discuss how to go further... -
So far none of the picture posters have been diagnosed DH, right? It's a "probable DH photo bank" then... How can you be 100% sure it is DH and use it as an example for other people? There is still a (although maybe slight) chance it is something else

ARCHIVED How Many People Self-Diagnose?
benXX replied to JenniBea's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Please don't listen to people encouraging you not to go for an official diagnosis. For one, when officially diagnosed, it is so much easier to follow a lifetime diet and to convince the people around you about it. Secondly, being diagnosed, you will get the necessary follow up tests for the possible effects of mal-absorption. Thirdly, you might have... -
ARCHIVED How Bad Is Cheating On The Gluten Free Diet Periodically
benXX replied to icm's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This was the initial issue of this thread. There is 100% consensus that it is not wise to knowingly gluten yourself. As my body doesn't know if I'm glutened on purpose or by accident, I tried to extend the issue to when one is occasionally glutened accidentally. My interpretation of the reactions in this thread is that: doctors are ignorant, death... -
ARCHIVED How Bad Is Cheating On The Gluten Free Diet Periodically
benXX replied to icm's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I've seen this document and although it is coming from a very reliable source, there is no scientific reference to their statement that it "can" damage the intestine. Has nobody found any study yet about the effects of occasional glutening? -
ARCHIVED How Bad Is Cheating On The Gluten Free Diet Periodically
benXX replied to icm's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This is a completely different issue to "what really happens on an occasional glutening" Please don't get emotional about it. It is a valid question. I'm just curious what happens in case I get accidentally glutened. -
ARCHIVED How Bad Is Cheating On The Gluten Free Diet Periodically
benXX replied to icm's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
IMHO the big problem is that it is hard to find scientific data on the net for what happens when one is occasionally glutened. Why we feel so ill from a small dose of gluten, while before we didn't feel that ill when consuming gluten regularly. Is feeling ill from being glutened a measure for the damage done? It took years for most celiacs to get diagnosed... -
ARCHIVED Newly Gluten Free And Sacred
benXX replied to hobbitqueen18's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If you are really dairy intolerant (milk proteins), it is not that strange to have problems with beef-proteins as well. I have that too and so have many others. Just google "meat and dairy intolerance" and you'll see you are not alone in this. -
ARCHIVED Heat Rash
benXX replied to Gunkle's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
A looks a bit like seborrheic dermatitis, something that gets worse when warm and humid. I've had that for over 40 years on my chest and back, but disappeared when I went gluten-free. Had to use Ketoconazol-creme daily all those years to keep it under control. When it is hot and humid, I put on baby powder to prevent it from becoming worse. Really helps... -
ARCHIVED The Epic Battle: Antibiotics Vs Probiotics
benXX replied to jessthirtytwo's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
The pro-biotics sold are only a tiny part of the gut-flora you need. Most good gut-bacteria come from raw food (vegetables and fruit). -

ARCHIVED Mcdonalds Fries
benXX replied to Skittles's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This is what it says on the ingredients for the USA ( Open Original Shared Link ) French Fries: Potatoes, vegetable oil (canola oil, hydrogenated soybean oil, natural beef flavor [wheat and milk derivatives]*, citric acid [preservative]), dextrose, sodium acid pyrophosphate (maintain color), salt. Prepared in vegetable oil (Canola oil, corn oil, soybean... -
Humans are the only mammals using dairy products after infancy. I know going against the general belief dairy to be beneficial, is like sacrilege. But IMHO I think the pro-biotics are just a scam. Great marketing though to make us believe we can't do without them. However in the whole spectrum of gut flora, the Lactic acid and bifidobacteria occupy...

ARCHIVED What Do You All Think About Idea That All Grains Must Go For Many To Heal?
benXX replied to slee11211's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Trying to find a solution for my problems, I started on SCD. But being dairy intolerant, it wasn't the right diet for me. From there I went onto anti-Candida Diet and ended up on Paleo. I must say, I have never felt so good as on the Paleo diet. It was absolutely great. However, after 4 months, I had to stop the Paleo diet, to go on an horrible 2 month... -
ARCHIVED Question For Those Who Are Grain Free
benXX replied to GFreeMO's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I use coconut oil whenever possible; for stir frying use palm-oil and for salads virgen olive oil. I love Tilapia and Panga fish, great Thai recipes out there, but these are river fish. Love river prawn too. My DH indicates not to overdo on iodine-rich (=sea) products, although have never tested it. The smell of iodine turns me off, which I see as a body... -

ARCHIVED For Those Who Gave Up Dairy...
benXX replied to Christine0125's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Google for "dangers of milk" and get shocked. You might not want to go back on dairy products now you have learned to do without. -
ARCHIVED Recipe For Breakfast Cookie/muffin?
benXX replied to smsm's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
This reminds me of my mother always trying to make me eat breakfast. The harder she tried, the less I would eat. I got less picky once she let it go. Now, only in the countries with the highest percentage obese people, breakfast seems to be considered to most important meal of the day... *-) -
ARCHIVED Pharmacists--Ugh!

I'd check the FDA database and click on the label information Open Original Shared Link -
I use Rice flour from Thai World Imort & Export Co. Ltd. In stead of potato starch I use Tapioca from the same company. I use Glutinous Rice flour from Kridsasa Foods Co. Ltd for some desserts. As long as it comes packet from Thailand, I don't really care about the brand, as cc in Thailand is highly unlikely. Last April I was in Thailand, ate everywhere...

ARCHIVED Question For Those Who Are Grain Free
benXX replied to GFreeMO's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I've been grain/dairy/legumes/sugar/alcohol free too. Felt really great and was never hungry. But sfter losing 14kg/30lbs, I had to stop, can't afford to lose any more weight. Does anyone know a way to be on this diet and not lose weight? I really would love to go back on it.
