  1. My husband and I went to St. Martin/St. Marteen several years back before I was diagnosed with celiac disease. They are both wonderful. Go to the St. Marteen nude beach and watch all the body shapes - you will feel absolutely beautiful - bathing suits are allowed. The food is great on both sides and I would think that if you talked to the chef at the restaurent...
  2. Thanks Judy for the info. I have had migraines for over 20 years (two major head injurys' and both were in the temporal lobe area and on the same side) and when I get them, my vision becomes as if I am looking through a thick water glass. The pain starts after the vision clears, which takes anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. The pain is the worst. I...
  3. Thank you all for taking the time to answer. I really appreciate it. As far as the night vision, have your eyes tested for cataracts. That is what happened to me many years ago. My eye problem is in both eyes as I have tried closing one and seeing if that made a differance. Today I had to drive to the dentist which is in East Phoenix. Usually my husband...
  4. When I started to go really downhill in August 2003, I had my eyes tested for new glasses. I wear tri-focals (with no lines). Two weeks after I got them I noticed that I sometimes could read the streets signs and sometimes could not. I thought they had put the wrong RX in as this can sometimes happen. I went back and was checked once a week for three...
  5. jenven is right. You have to simplify. I USED to have to have a totally perfect house. I now most times don't even make the bed. That energy can be used elsewhere. On the days I find I don't have the energy to cook, I call my husband to bring home something for himself and occasionally I ask also for me. But, usually by that time I am not even hungry...
  6. lushgreen, Please do not go by my exhaustion as to your recovery (if you have Celiac). I am 63 years old and by the time I was FINALLY diagonosed, I was probably two weeks away from any recovery at all (according to my doctor, when the light bulb when off in his head). I have been gluten-free for 1 1/2 years and maybe am at a 50% recovery. My doctor...
  7. I was giving myself the b-12 shots and the results would not last long. So, my Dr. just switched me to a sub-lingual liquid. I take that every morning. He stressed that it had to be the liquid as it absorbs directly into the blood stream. I am still extremely exhausted. I have been trying to put on some needed weight and so I also drink two or three...
  8. OOPS. Did not read the heading and just saw I was in the teenager section. My apologies for the intrusion. Armetta
  9. For the past four years - in Arizona. Currently downsized to a townhome in Gold Canyon, Arizona. Before that we were living in Lake in the Hills, Illinois.
  10. I was told that I definately could take the shipping costs under medical deductions. Since we do not have much in the way of gluten-free in the area, I have to drive 45 minutes to Whole Foods, Sprouts is 30 minutes away and our local health food store has minimal. I can only get a couple of items at any of them.. I order mixes from a Lake Zurich, Il Health...

    ARCHIVED I Had To Laugh...

Also love this topic. I just about never get invited to anyone's home to eat as they are just to afraid to feed me. Had one couple invite us over last fall for a cookout and she made me a gluten-free chicken breast and a fantastic tossed salad. I really appreciated the extra effort she went through so that I could be part of the group. Have a sister-in...
  12. Their gluten-free soy sauce is Tamari as they have brought me the bottle to my table.
  13. I ate at PF Chang's last week and ate mostly from the gluten-free menu. I always ask for it on my arrival. I ate at a new one that had just opened near me instead of driving 45 minutes to the other one. I went with a person who could order anything on the menu. The waiter was very trained and attentive. I ordered the combination fried rice which is never...

    ARCHIVED Eating

I order from my McDonalds fairly frequently. I order two patties with ketchup and mustard (no bun) and fries. I have never gotten sick. I also frequent Wendy's to meet a friend for a quick lunch. I order the meat patty and then a baked potatoe with the toppings I can have. I have never gotten sick there. But each chain has to be judged by how careful...
  15. I think you should ask what is on the buffet. Do not assume that you will be able to eat nothing. Many times the appetisers at a wedding include small shrimp. You can then bring your own gluten free sauce. They probably will have a salad and usually at a buffet, all the toppings are in separate bowls. Just add what is safe and bring your own salad dressing...

    ARCHIVED I've Fallen

This is the first time I have read the forum and wish to respond to your only eating fruit for $40 a plate. I was afraid to eat out for many months after my diagnosis and also I was too weak to leave the house for that length of time. But, I finally did and I was glad. Most restaurents are very accomidating, even the ones which are not chains. I have...
