Does anyone have experience to share about corn intolerance and pregnancy? It's my first pregnancy and it's been a struggle. I am VERY sensitive to anything corn-derived and have to get my medication compounded. Being pregnant has been complicated: finding corn-free prenatals (couldn't find any, I'm taking separate vitamins), dealing with cravings on...

ARCHIVED Corn Sensitivity

Here is what I found on mannitol: "Mannitol, a naturally occurring alcohol, is widely used in the food, pharmaceutical, medicine, and chemical industries. It is currently produced as a 25/75 mixture of mannitol and sorbitol (another sugar alcohol) by high pressure hydrogenation of 50/50 fructose/glucose mixture (corn derived sugars) in an aqueous solution... -

Thank you D. So mannitol in your B12 didn't bother you? It's usually made from corn, so I've been avoid it. -

Desperateladysaved, would you mind telling me what brand of supplements was safe for you (corn free)? I take some Kirkman Lab's but I am still looking for totally corn free B12. Vit C is not easy to find either. -
ARCHIVED Does Dh React To Corticosteroids And Can It Be Triggered By Corn?
Minstinguette replied to Minstinguette's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Thank you Squirmingitch and Kareng for your input! Yes I have been gluten free for several years. My rash appeared after about 2 years gluten free. Contrary to my eczema it always flares up when I eat gluten and sometimes when I eat something processed. Hopefully I'll end up figuring out what it is. But right now I'm pregnant and my rashes are killing me... -
ARCHIVED Does Dh React To Corticosteroids And Can It Be Triggered By Corn?
Minstinguette posted a topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Hi! Just a quick question for people suffering from DH. Does the itch/redness diminish when applying a corticosteroid cream? I have always had eczema and have been prescribed Triamcinolone for it. Since last year, I have developed a weird rash on my finger that looks like DH (tiny blisters, extremely itchy). I am wondering if it's really DH or just another... -
ARCHIVED Sleeping Disorders Linked To Celiac Disease?
Minstinguette replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
To respond to your question about corn, I didn't know I was intolerant until I took a food intolerance test. I know these are not always reliable, but in my case it was spot on. Corn is everywhere (think xanthan gum, citric acid, flavorings, preservatives etc.) so it's difficult to pin point a reaction to it. However, since I went corn free I have been feeling... -
My mom is gluten intolerant just like me and she cannot have coffee. She's intolerant to it. She has been gluten free for a while and every time she tries to add coffee back, she gets sick. So I think it's possible that you might be intolerant to it. I hope not!

Did you check your vitamins levels and your thyroid? Also make sure you identified any other intolerance you might have. I looked up Idiopathic Central Nervous System Hypersomnia and it feels familiar. I used to think something was wrong with me because I could easily sleep 10 to 14 hours a night, sometimes even longer. I would have an extremely difficult... -
ARCHIVED Recurrent Nightmares And Earworms

Thanks for sharing! I used to have these dreams too where you feel like you're falling. I would never have thought that gluten could affect my sleep like that before I went gluten free. -
ARCHIVED Recurrent Nightmares And Earworms
Minstinguette posted a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I just wanted to share two of my weird gluten symptoms and was curious to know if anyone has experienced the same. Before I went gluten free I had recurrent SCARY nightmares, usually involving either water (floods, tsunamis) or violence (somebody trying to kill me, I'm being shot at, and so on) that left me feeling like crap when I woke up. I remember... -
ARCHIVED Help, What Am I Reacting To?
Minstinguette replied to Minstinguette's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Thank you both for your advice. I just wanted to post an update. I found out that I react to some of Bob's Red Mill gluten free flours. I'm thinking gluten or corn cross-contamination. I react strongly to corn, so that might be it. Now I need to find a safer brand, or make my own... -
ARCHIVED Help, What Am I Reacting To?
Minstinguette replied to Minstinguette's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Thanks notme! No, no soy in any of these things. I know what you mean about soy too, I get the same reaction to soy milk (tamari doesn't seem to bother me though). -
I am hoping some of you can help me understand what I am reacting to. I have been having mild reactions on and off after in the last two weeks. I get the usual migraine and feel very sleepy and foggy. I have been trying to identify the culprit but I no luck so far. I get these reactions after eating breakfast and figured it has to be one or several of theses...

ARCHIVED Multiple Intolerances And Restaurants?
Minstinguette replied to Maryw88's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I am intolerant to gluten, corn and dairy. I don't know if it helps but I regularly eat out at indian, thai or vietnamese restaurants. Indian is a good pick because the dishes "normally" don't contain any wheat or corn and they often have vegan options (sometimes I ask to have meat added to a vegan spinach stew for example). I have reacted only once while... -
ARCHIVED Corn Free/gluten Free Prenatal Vitamins?
Minstinguette replied to shorebird's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I am in the same boat. From what I've seen, it doesn't look like there's any that's truly corn free and gluten free. I am having the same problem with B12. Can't find any. We're trying to have a baby and so far I am only taking folic acid from Kirkman's Labs. I have no reaction to it so that's good. Let me know if you find any! -
ARCHIVED Trader Joe's Unfiltered Organic Apple Juice
Minstinguette replied to Minstinguette's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks for your input. I'm 99% positive it's the juice that got me (nothing new in my diet). Although it might be corn and not necessarily gluten contamination. I have had so many accidental glutenings with Trader Joe's products -

No mention of a shared facility/equipment on the bottle... It doesn't say gluten free either. -

Has anyone ever reacted to it? Only ingredient listed is apples. But I am having a gluten-type reaction to it. I am also intolerant to corn so I don't know which one it is. -
ARCHIVED Celiac In Africa?
Minstinguette replied to CeliacInSenegal's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
It's definitely a learning curve. Thai and sushi are my go to food when I eat out Pad thai and curries are usually gluten free but I always ask and remind them about soy sauce. I avoid sauces that look gravy-ish or like it has been thickened (I am intolerant to corn too so I am being extra careful). As for sushi, I usually bring my own tamari (gluten free... -
ARCHIVED Celiac In Africa?
Minstinguette replied to CeliacInSenegal's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hi, I have never been in Senegal, but I've been to Nigeria I had no problem with gluten (not one glutening in 10 days). Most staple foods are naturally gluten free (rice, casava, yam, plantain, etc.). The only problem I can think of is the common use of Maggi cubes (cubes) in soups and stews, which seems to be prevalent in Senegal too. Hopefully somebody... -
It does sound like histamine intolerance to me. Histamine develops extremely fast on poultry and fish. My histamine intolerance is better now after 2 years gluten/dairy/corn free. But I still can't have wine

ARCHIVED Mega Foods Vitamins Corn Free?
Minstinguette posted a topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Just wanted to share some promising information I received from Mega Foods. I asked them if their C Complex vitamin and B12 were also corn free (in addition to dairy, gluten and soy free). Here is their answer. I have not tried it yet so I can't confirm that there is no cross contamination. Thank you for taking the time to contact us. Our Plant Cellulose... -
ARCHIVED Going Out For Drinks - Help
Minstinguette replied to Minstinguette's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Thanks for your suggestions! I thought about rum and tequila too. The problem is that there is nothing to mix them with - all pops and juices seem to have corn. I used to drink hard cider (woodchuck) but I am trying to avoid it now due to corn additives. I am happy to see that I am not the only one who gets drunk after two sips. I rarely drink nowadays,... -
A question for those who are also corn intolerant : what do you drink when you go out? It looks like everything has corn or gluten. (I am also intolerant to grapes - so no wine for me). Having a glass of water while everyone is having beers and cocktails is a little depressing. Please share your suggestions if you have any! (So far I only came up with potato...
