ARCHIVED Watch Out When Feeding Your Fish!
ILOVEOMC posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My 12 year old son just informed me( very observant and honest kid) that the fish food he feeds his fish with every morning and night and then sucks his thumb sometimes has wheat gluten listed as an ingredient. I was proud of him to detect that and now we will take precautions. I think pet foods and dog treats have that also so wash hands or do not touch... -
ARCHIVED Headaches And Dizzy
ILOVEOMC replied to Noelle126's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
That's funny that this appeared today. My 12 year old son missed school yesterday and was not feeling well Monday with tummy ache, headache, and dizzy. I do feel like he must have got glutened maybe over the Holiday weekend. He feels better today. No fever, no diahrea and no vomiting at any time. I was thinking it might be gluten and then I saw this post... -

I ordered the pizza for my son. He didn't like it very much but I did. We also ordered the cinnamon buns and my son loved them. Very good warmed up and they freeze well. I am now waiting on an order of more cinnamon buns and their Christmas cut out sugar cookies. The pizza was expensive to ship due to the need for dry ice and overnight shipping. The cinnamon... -

ILOVEOMC replied to ILOVEOMC's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms

ARCHIVED Where Does Stomach Pain Occur?
ILOVEOMC replied to ILOVEOMC's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I wanted to keep her on gluten so she can be proplerly diagnosed. With family history(her brother) I didn't know they were going to go slow about this. Dr. also wanted to have her take mylanta but I didn't give her any because I thougth that would just cover the symptoms. I am confused now. -

Hi, When you have Celiac Disease where in the stomach is the pain most likely to be? Upper, Middle, or Lower part of the stomach? My son who we adopted from Russia had giardia when we brought him home. He took a medicine for some length of time( rather long as I remember) and that seemed to cure it. He was having very loose stools and not able to control when he went and that was rather messy. When my other biological son came down with symptoms several years after that I wondered if...

Carrie , I am going to try these breadsticks tomorrow. It takes me some time to get around to making things. I will make these tomorrow and can't wait to see if my son loves them . Thanks for passing this on. -

ARCHIVED Any Gf Shortening?
ILOVEOMC replied to ILOVEOMC's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Woo hoo Crisco. That's what I was using before celiac disease. For some reason ( I think the dietician scared me away from it) I thought it would not be gluten-free and I have been using butter which makes things spread out during baking. I will gladly go back to the old familiar Crisco shortening in the big tub. Thanks so much!! -
Hi I want to makecut out sugar cookies for my kids and the recipe calls for shortening. I usually use butter but the cookies spread out. Is there a gluten-free shortening to use?
