  1. I dont know if what I was experiencing with leg cramps was the same thing but I had this for short period of time. It was mainly happening in the middle of the night....when I was stretching my leg in my sleep. I would suddenly wake up with major pain in my leg....and it would last maybe a minute and then I'd be fine. I remember it happening once in...
  2. Thanks for the update Carla. I'm still thinking about her...I hope everything is ok.
  3. Yeah....thats how I feel too....afraid. I havent been to Anna's new clinic...I'm not even sure where she's at exactly. Dr. P. said I could get it at Whole Foods....but I didnt see it there. Which brand is it? If its got less "ingredients" than the one Dr. P. recommended....I'd rather try that one. The less "stuff" the better. I just want the curcumin...
  4. April, I think you DO have to take out the foods. The only way I could have seen myself keeping the foods in would be if I had started proper supplementation (providing my body with whatever its needing to clear the pathway)....BEFORE I got down to a really restricted diet. It wouldnt have been possible unless I'd been doing all of these tests and...
  5. Carla, this is what Dr. P. wants me to try. What brand did you get? I havent found it yet (but I havent really tried too hard either ). I'm not supposed to start it until I get all my tests done. I'm done with my bloodwork. Got a nice big bruise....still there from last Monday. I still gotta take a urine test (on hold cuz of my monthly visitor...
  6. Glutamate might sound like "gluten".....but they are two different things entirely. MSG = Monosodium Glutamate Gluten free products are free of gluten....but not necessarily free of MSG.
  7. Awww.....I hope she feels alot better tomorrow. Yup....she is a really tough cookie....for sure! Tell her she's in my prayers.
  8. YAY for the weekend finally getting here! I need some rest...and I can finally catch up on the posts (again). Kassandra, great news about the surgery going well. Thanks for the update.....and I'm really glad you didnt need another surgery! Hope you'll be able to post soon. Andrea.....this is really AWESOME!! I'm so glad you're having...
  9. Paula....so happy to have you joining us!! If you have any questions you know I'll be happy to help.
  10. a quick drive by....this "idea" has been in and out of my mind for a long time now....so I'm just posting too see what you guys think?? One time I read about some autistic kids getting worse when they were put on the gluten-free/casein free diet. Apparantly it was because they needed the nutrients they were getting from these foods....and so they deteriorated...
  11. Paula......its neverending!!
  12. Happy Belated Birthday to Birdy!!!! Sorry I missed it!!
  13. Kassandra, good luck with the GI tomorrow! I'll be thinking about you and hoping that this gets resolved quickly. Dang.....its just one thing after the next....but yeah....you are definately one strong girl! You'll get through this. Pericardial effusion?? That one is totally new to me.....will have to read up on that one later.
  14. April, I would love to go to this! I think you're on the other side of the country though. Yeah...otherwise I would be there for sure. I'm hoping to go to one of the big conventions one of these days. I'd still love to see Dr. K., Dr. Amy and all of the other speakers. Maybe next year. Dr. P. (my new Dr.) talked about all of these same...
  15. Yes, as Mtndog mentioned threads do sometimes get off topic fast! As far as I know this topic started out asking about Celiac genes (or unknown genes) in relationship to positive test results. As far as I know its still on topic......although not everyone may take interest in the discussion. I apologize to gfwarrior for responding to the post...
  16. Positive bloodwork and/or biopsy is actually not MY criteria for a diagnosis of Celiac Disease.....its the medical community's criteria.....is it not? As far as I know most diseases have some "criteria" in order to make the diagnosis and Celiac is no different. We can self diagnose any condition we want....but what I'm saying is that in order for a study...
  17. Personally, I believe that they do have a pretty good understanding of which genes are primarily involved in Celiac Disease. That would be DQ2 and DQ8 (which are found in the vast majority of diagnosed Celiacs). As for the other genes....well we do know that plenty of people have problems with gluten WITHOUT actually having Celiac Disease. I see people...
  18. Paula...dont try to put it on in the shower! You'll end up with pasty clumps of baking soda sticking to your underarms.
  19. I'm kind of at the point that I dont really think there's any ONE factor for me. Even if mercury tipped the scales for me....I'm not really focused on it as a MAIN issue anymore. The more I'm learning the more it just makes sense that alot of it comes down to genetics. Half of it is probably having to do with the genetic weaknesses and the other half...
  20. Sherry, I've always noticed this.....but it took me awhile to figure out that its because you're totally in another time zone! Mine is much better too. I think its all about reducing the toxic load and supporting detoxification. Right now I'm not doing anything for support but just reducing the load (mostly avoidance) has made a huge difference...
  21. Oh....its simple. 1. Dump a little bit of powder into your hand (sometimes way too much comes out of the box though). 2. Spread that under your arm. 3. Dust off the "excess" powder. 4. Put on your shirt and you're ready to go. Only thing is that the powder ends up on the sink counter. I just wipe it up with the towel my mom has...
  22. Most scented candles bother me. My mom got rid of all her candles when I started staying at her house....they totally bothered me even if they werent "lit".
  23. That made me laugh. I do think body chemistry has something to do with it too. Right now I dont think any type of perfume would smell good on me! I just have messed up chemistry or something. I also think (like Carla said) they put WAY more chemicals in the perfumes and colognes now! The cheaper stuff is probably the worst. Some of the...
  24. This made me laugh because I was the same way. Everytime I got a reaction I totally blamed it on gluten....and I could usually find some "exposure" that probably occured. Yes, our minds are very powerful! Now I TRY to keep an open mind about all possibilities when I get sick. I dont think I ever blame one thing anymore.....because I think for me I...
  25. I definately would have guessed that one for you.
