ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
Rachel--24 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Heres something regarding food chemicals and behaviors in kids... My experience is kind of similar...amines make me more irritable and more ready to explode. Some of the other chemicals (although its hard to pinpoint which ones exactly) make me feel "high"....I'm more hyper and spacy....but then I end up crashing and feeling kind of drained. They... -

I forgot to mention that during my "food adventures" of the past few weeks I almost certainly had a run-in with an old enemy....AUXIGRO!! I've been eating lots of peeled russet potatoes the past few weeks. They've been just the regular average size organic potatoes. I usually eat 2 at a time because....well...I guess because I'm Rachel and one just... -

Bummer about having mold on the carpet. Can you actually smell mold in your house?? Getting rid of the mold is definately important....regardless of what your labwork says. Do you plan on replacing all of the carpet? Just wanted to mention that new carpet off gasses toxic chemicals (like formaldehyde) and is not really good for anyone.... -

I had a high malabsorption score as well (912). I also tested positive for both antigliadin IgA and tTG.....although I did not carry either of the Celiac genes and all previous Celiac testing was negative. In my case the malabsorption was caused by other issues.....and did not resolve with the gluten-free diet. I would not rule out the possibility of... -

Andrea, I'll send it this week if I can make it to the post office. I dont know how often she has bad days or bouts of anger but it might be helpful to keep a journal in case its triggered by foods. That way if she has a really bad day you can look at what she's eaten that day....or the previous day...and it might help pinpoint some problem foods... -
ARCHIVED Celiac V.s. Gluten Intollerant
Rachel--24 replied to sugarsue's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
People dont develop Celiac unless they are genetically susceptible.....although having the gene does not mean that you are destined to develop the disease (most do not). Many people with non-celiac gluten intolerance do follow the diet exactly the same as if they were Celiac. Then there are some who take enzymes which solves the problem for them. Others... -

I think toxicity usually builds up over time...at some point we just lose our ability to handle it and we get sick. I dont think it would be the c/s by itself....or even the mold by itself. Its just a bunch of things contributing....the mold could be the biggest factor though....the thing that ended up pushing your body too far. LOL..... -

I would have been more frusterated with the waiting if I had been coming on here with nothing new to report. Everyone said the time would pass faster if I stopped thinking about it so much....so I just started doing other things so time would hurry up and fly by. I was still Googling though....just not as much. I was playing with my diet trying... -

Paula, I'll be thinking about you and hoping things go well for you. Glad hubby is there to help you. Andrea, Are the children still having digestive issues? I have the book (Breaking the Vicious Cycle)......if you want I can send it to you so you can learn it all ahead of time. I used to have the metallic taste until... -

Hmmm....I'm just thinking "out loud" about what I just posted. Hyperthyroid causes too much thyroid hormone and also certain neurotransmitters can be elevated as well. I think the outbursts I had while dealing with the overactive thyroid are probably caused by the same chemicals which are in foods that also trigger the same type of symptoms. So... -

I work hard to gain my weight too! ...and I'm a Californian. I know what you mean....I used to feel that way constantly the first couple years I was sick. I just hurt all over and especially my head and eyes. I used to pray that I wouldnt wake up in the morning. Now I'm glad my prayers went unanswered! Glad they... -

I think Scott would be the most knowledgable about the mold stuff for sure! I was around all week.....but for the first time EVER I was coming home for my lunch and NOT turning the computer on! My mom was totally amazed that I was doing alot of things having nothing to do with the computer. I even washed my car! A week later and people are still... -

Yeah....what she said! Paula, you have a good memory. My toxicity seems to be caused by enzyme dysfunction and problems with the methylation cycle/sulfation pathway. Certain defects can lead to increased sucesptibility to infection but I think it would depend on where the defects are. For example I dont think problems with certain enzymes (such... -

I guess I wasnt the typical kid. There was never a time that I wanted to vacuum! Do some kids really ASK for chores?? My mom delegated chores to me....I just didnt do them. If I did them they werent done as good as she would do them herself (like I'd be done cleaning the entire bathroom in less than 5 minutes). I didnt make my bed, put my clothes... -

I'm catching up. April, how is it going with the pre-k now? Is he getting used to it? Yeah, I'm noticing that my friends who have kids are busier now that school's back in! I checked out my mattress last weekend and its not that type...it doesnt have a top that unzips. I was pretty relieved to see that but... -
ARCHIVED Finally Have My Panel Test Results In Hand
Rachel--24 replied to castor's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The lower portion contains the interpretive data.....not her results. Its just repeating the ranges and what they mean. Her tTG result was 3....and that is shown in the first set of numbers she posted (along with the reference range). The test was not run twice....she just posted all of the info on her labwork and the reference ranges are on there in... -

Rachel--24 replied to castor's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
TTG IgA 3 EU Unless I'm missing something it looks to me like the tTG is negative. This is the reference range: <20 EU = Negative 20-30 EU = Weakly Positive >30 EU = Positive Anything over 20 would be considered a weak positive but your result was not in that range. -

I think in my case the most effective way to boost my immune system would be to correct the dysfunction/imbalances which are causing the toxicity to accumulate in the first place. With blocked methylation/sulfation I am reactive to most products even if they are meant to be beneficial. I have not really benefited from any type of supplements because none... -
ARCHIVED Casein Intolerance Linked To Gluten Intolerance
Rachel--24 replied to moldlady's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
In my opinion gluten intolerance (non-celiac) can be caused by a number of things.....and I'm sure casein can be one of them (for some people). Its not far fetched.....although I do not believe that casein is the cause for all (or even most) cases of gluten intolerance. I think the possibilities are numerous. Obviously a person with Celiac Disease... -

This site has a good explanation of CD57 results. Open Original Shared Link So right now I am "at risk" with my CD57 count being at 72 (and previously at 78). I feel that with severely impaired detoxification I am "at risk" for a whole lot of things (Lyme being only one of many).....which is why I want to improve my detoxification (open up... -

I gotta catch up on this thread! I read that Carla is having some odor issues?? Carla, I definately need to read all the posts I missed so that I can be back "in the loop". ARCHIVED Positive For 2 Copies Mthfr C677t Mutation.
Rachel--24 replied to thundersweet's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
The info. was not meant to scare anyone.....its just one of the things that has come to light with the research that has been done. Personally, I feel its better to be informed. I'd rather know of any possible risks ahead of time....but I do realize that not everyone feels the same. If I had been aware of my own vulnerabililities I would not be sick today... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free 6 Months (but Something Still Wrong)
Rachel--24 replied to KristaleeJane's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I would agree with the posters who have already mentioned looking into Lyme. There is no test which is 100% reliable for diagnosing Lyme but Igenex is one of the best labs available. Igenex Western Blots have a higher sensitivity than most labs doctors routinely use (these labs are known for false negatives). Candida is typically secondary to other health... -
ARCHIVED Positive For 2 Copies Mthfr C677t Mutation.
Rachel--24 replied to thundersweet's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
From what I understand MTHFR mutations are associated with autism (as well as a significant percentage of the population). People with MTHFR defects are more susceptible to toxicity.....they are less capapable of excreting mercury and other toxins. It can lead to a shortage of glutathione....resulting in increased levels of heavy metals and other toxins... -
ARCHIVED Getting Over Other Food Intolerances
Rachel--24 replied to Laura Wesson's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I have come to "know" alot of people who have tried various treatments for allergies/intolerances. I've heard alot more positives regarding NAET and BioSET for desensitization treatments. It could be that I've just come across alot more people doing these treatments in comparison to EPD but just thought I'd mention that most people I know of who have...
