  1. Rinne...how much longer until you get tested?? I soooo hope this is the answer for you. I feel like I can say that even though we're talking about Lyme Disease...I know exactly how you feel and you DO get to the point where nothing scares you anymore. To me the most terrifying thing in the world is never finding out a cause for all of this...Lyme is nothing...
  2. Miamia....hang in there. Keep testing different things....one day you will get your answer. Just dont give up...many times I felt like it was useless....I wasnt getting anywhere and I'd cry...but then I'd wake up to a new day and just keep searching. I couldnt give up because I just know deep down that we dont get this way for no good reason...all of us were...
  3. OMG Patti.....thats exactly what happened to me! That day I had the flu-like symptoms I also had a raging fever.....my roommate had to call the advice nurse at Kaiser...I couldnt even hold my head up. I couldnt even talk....I was totally listless. I took the next day off work and rested and after that I was fine. I've NEVER had symptoms like that before and...
  4. Yes, but were you aware that for these studies they were using Aspartame in the placebos!! That is why the people taking the placebos were getting headaches. Most people who are sensitive to MSG are also sensitive to Aspartame. Another trick to convince us that MSG is safe when all of the evidence shows thats its not. Using Aspartame in the placebos completley...
  5. Rinne...I was thinking about this today at work. I cant even believe it....I started this thread thinking I might be corn intolerant and then went through what seems like an endless amount of possibilities and diet restrictions....and now I have a probable cause...a REAL diagnosis! I think it still hasnt really hit me because at work I would find...
  6. I dunno about the "metabolic" word....I was kinda guessing cuz I couldnt remember exactly how he said it. I may have spelled it wrong too. Yeah....you guys are probably gonna learn WAY more than you ever wanted to know about Lyme and who knows what else... Last month the Dr. told me to bring in all my lab reports next visit. This time...
  7. Andrea, I cant say for certain when I got bitten. All I know is that I showed the bite to Michelle....she remembers it too. I'm pretty sure she was living in the house when I had shown her the bite so it wouldnt have been after the 2002 camping trip...it would have been before that. She remembers...the other day she said it was on my shoulder. Thats exactly...
  8. Julie, Nope he didnt specify or give a name. I'm thinking its the same thing though....sounds like it anyway. I'm gonna try to call the lady today and I'll make sure I ask. Sounds like it could be usefel....it seems like the Dr. wants to use the info. gained from it as a starting point as far as how to go about treating me. He said all my reactions...
  9. Donna....thats exactly what was happening once I got those gold crowns. I'd actually never had a crown before....only the 4 amalgams I'd had since childhood. I never had any work at all since I was little. The crowns felt too big and my bite was off....The ones Dr Adams put in never gave me any trouble at all. I wonder if it had something to do with the metals...
  10. Thanks Patti....I hope so!! Yesterday I was a little disappointed at first....I wanted a faster approach I guess. Now that I've thought about it more...I'm sooo glad about the way he's going about this and I think he's doing the right thing for me. I barely know much at all about Lyme treatment....there are alot of different options/approaches...
  11. Bev, in your case I always suspected mold....as soon as you started saying stuff about your apartment...mold or contaminated water popped into my head. There was another poster (not around anymore)...she kept thinking she was getting glutened really bad...but only in her own home....I thought the same thing for her situation....mold. We are extremely vulnerable...
  12. Nikki...I dont know much about it at all....I think someone here has done it before though. Maybe Julie?? I'm wary of testing methods I'm not familiar with. Actually before all of this I thought supplements and alternative stuff was total quakery (not that I knew a thing about it )....obviously my thinking has changed since these Dr.'s have helped me the...
  13. Susan....I was the same way coming out of there....flummoxed and out of words!! I think its good news too! Well....not like Lyme is the greatest thing to have but WAY better than "not knowing". I was confused coming out of the appt. Dave was saying he was happy for me and I was just like "I dont think I got diagnosed." He said it was close enough. I think...
  14. JenKuz, I tested positive for Lyme disease so it looks like that might be the culprit. I had one positive test, another "weak" positive and now the Dr. wants a third test for confirmation. OMG.....will the testing phase ever end???
  15. OMG....Donna thats exactly what I was thinking this morning when I got to my Mom's and saw this taped to the monitor: RACHEL, Dont try to use the computer...it is very broken. Someone will come tonight to try to fix it. Off all days for that to happen!! Sorry to hear you felt bad over the weekend. I cant wait to hear what Dr. Adams...
  16. Andrea, No prob...I'll email you the link later (if anyone else wants it let me know). Yeah...according to the site I was up all night....forgot to close everything down. I did sleep though....just not the 15 hours I would have wanted.
  17. You dont have to be eating any of the foods that are in the test at the time of testing. The test may tell you you're sensitive to something you havent eaten in several years.
  18. Judy, Yeah....I know....its confusing stuff. If I've got it right the "bands" are what become visible to the lab people performing the tests. Theres all these different parts of the lyme bacteria and our immune system doesnt just make one big antibody against Lyme....it makes a bunch of different antibodies to attack all the different parts...
  19. The ELISA testing that is talked about on this board is for food intolerances. Some labs offer ELISA IgG "delayed reaction" food sensitivity tests.
  20. Thanks everyone for your kind words and support! It means so much to me that I have such wonderful and caring friends here. I'm feeling better now about continuing with my posts....thanks to all of you who have sent messages expressing how meaningful this thread is to you. I will try not to let my emotions get carried away again. Well...I wish...
  21. I'm sorry you are going through so much right now. I just read the last post....I didnt realize you were still eating gluten until such a short time ago. Things might improve for you on the diet. Make sure you are avoiding gluten 100% and hopefully it will make a difference in how you feel. Enterolab DOES state that numbers dont necessarily correspond...
  22. Yup...thank goodness for your neighbor stopping by to borrow that egg! I agree with the others....no need for further testing. Biopsies often give false negatives but having been already on the diet you are almost guaranteed to have a negative test result. You said you felt great on the diet so this means your body was healing and that the diet was...
  23. I recall reading something similar...may have been a different thread though. Its a shame the info. isnt available now. One thing I do know is that there were ALOT of people with DQ1 over there and just like me....they were diagnosed through Enterolab. There is one member of this board (cant think of who it is right now) that has DQ1 and was diagnosed...
  24. I'm glad somebody asked the question because I was reading along but had no idea what any of this stuff meant. I guess I'm not in touch with my cervix at all. I was trying to figure out what this topic had to do with pregnancy??? Now I know...and thanks for spelling it out to those of us who are a little "unaware". I'm not trying to get pregnant...
  25. Thats interesting Matilda...I'd actually done some reading over there trying to learn more about DQ1 last year. I never saw anything specifically having to do with my results but I noticed alot of DQ1'ers were pretty bad off with regards to symptoms and intolerances. They were saying DQ1 is a bad bad gene. My biopsy was text book perfect but yet I had high...
