  1. Merika, Thanks...that is helpful I felt great the first month gluten-free but now I'm struggling again. Can't seem to get back to feeling good again. I think I do have leaky gut and I react to many foods. It changes with how I'm feeling though...the worse I feel the more foods I react to and when I'm feeling good I seem to react less. The same...
  2. Hi, I'm just like you...waiting for the results. I can't just "lurk" though! Lol...thats just not me....I gotta know everything right now! Well...I know exactly how you feel and I hope your tests come back positive so that you can move on Good luck!!! -Rachel
  3. Thanks, I wanted to get some of those PH strips but thought I had to order them online so I hadnt bothered yet. I'm going to check the health store. I think that will help me figure out what I'm reacting to as you mentioned. I know for sure that I'm not absorbing well but its constantly changing from bad to a little better to bad again. I cant gain...
  4. Kathleen, I do have problems with acidic foods like lemons. I had my PH tested once and I was highly acidic. Maybe this is only a yeast problem I'm dealing with and not celiac disease? Can celiac disease cause problems with acidic foods or sugar? -Rachel
  5. Kallie, Yup...I had all your symptoms except the insomnia. I even was dx with Rosacea...I'm not sure I really have it though (never had any redness on my face). The weight loss didn't really become a problem until about 8 months ago..it happened pretty quickly. The more I ate the more I lost. Since going gluten-free I'm not losing anymore but...
  6. One more question, I never went for my biopsy but the procedure is still available to me...I would just have to schedule it. The reason I havent is because I've been mostly gluten-free for 3 months now. I'm feeling alot better but definately not back to normal. I may have still been getting some gluten in me from supplements, etc (I was only being careful...
  7. Oh yeah, I do take Flax oil as well as Aloe Vera juice and L-Glutamine. I think all 3 of these help me. -Rachel
  8. Kallie, Wow! Your're symptoms are exactly like mine and all of my tests have come back normal as well except for LOW IRON...which my doctors dismissed. I feel like I've had a million tests but no answers so of course my doctors think I'm a hypochondriac too. That why I'm doing Enterloab as well...just got my test kit yesterday Did your docs ever...
  9. Thanks for you replies My doctors are not supportive at all and don't seem to care that I've lost 25 lbs. so now I'm paying outta pocket for tests outside my HMO. I'm just tired of dealing with them. They also think "its all in my head" and seeing a psychiatrist will somehow cure me. Anyways I finally took thier advice and was willing to try antidepressants...
  10. Hmmm....I was tested before I really had any GI symptoms. It was a few months after the test that I really started losing weight. looking malnourished and experiencing GI problems/food intolerances. So its possible that at the time I was tested I didn't have damage just symptoms such as headaches, brain fog, etc. Could I have these symptoms before actual...
  11. Hi, I had a negative TtG last year and from what I've read that test is highly specific. I'm wondering if theres anyone who also had a negative test but actually ended up having celiac disease. Some sites say false negatives are common others say the test is 97% specific. Thanks, Rachel
  12. Kathleen, Did you have yeast as well as celiac disease? I noticed you listed TMJ in your signature...I also got TMJ about the same time my face started swelling. I couldnt open my mouth all the way and my teeth didn't quite fit right in my mouth. I wore a special niteguard every night for a year. Since the day I started the Candida/gluten-free diet I havent...
  13. Sounds like he's had a rough time...hope the villi heal soon and that he'll feel better Your explanation makes sense to me. I'm going on 3 years now with no "official" diagnosis. Just an unnoficial dx of Candidiasis. I can pretty much only tolerate organic meats and some veggies. I dont see how I'll ever gain weight eating like this. -Rachel
  14. Can Enterolab dx Celiac Disease or do they just all come back as gluten intolerant? With the gene test does this identify whether a person has celiac disease or not? I know if you dont have the gene then you cant have celiac disease but if you DO have the gene how do you know whether you actually have Celiac or not? I'm confused about this. I'll be getting...
  15. Thanks Nikki, I also notice more intolerances since going gluten-free. I'm not sure if they are new or just more obvious now that I'm not as sick. Since your husband went gluten-free has his intestines healed? Do you think he will always have these intolerances or will everything likely resolve once he heals from celiac disease damage? -Rachel
  16. TBHQ? Hmmm...never heard of that. Sounds like your husband does know whats going on with his body though. Good for him Hopefully someday I'll know what the hecks going on with me. Don't know whether I have celiac disease or Candida or both but I seem to react to everything. As an experiment I decided to try a Pamelas gluten-free pecan cookie to see...
  17. Debbie, Yes, I wipe down the counters, wipe my utensils etc. with the same sponge. I never thought of the possibility and anyways didn't think I had celiac disease so it wasnt on my mind. I just figured I was chemically sensitive so thats why I react to the glue. Have you been dx with Celiac? I'm doing Enterolab so I wont know for 3 more weeks. I shouldnt...
  18. Thanks Nini, I guess if I do have celiac disease I must be highly sensitive because I REALLY react when I'm exposed to gluten. Everything else has pretty much been ruled out & I dont have food allergies or delayed-onset sensitivities. Small things like licking an envelope can really mess me up for days. I just thought about the fact that now I use...
  19. Hmmm...thats a good question! I always thought all Bob's Red Mill stuff was gluten-free. I emptied the flour into a tupperware and threw away the package. Everytime I paid my bills by the time I was done I would be crying, depressed and extremely tired. I eventually figured out it was from licking the envelopes. I dont do that anymore and I'm fine now...
  20. Debbie, That sounds just like me. I get all those symptoms and I wake up several times in the night sweaty, with my hands or arms numb and it feels like somethings crawling under my skin. This doesnt happen too much anymore since I changed my diet but when it does I cant really figure out why. Hopefully changing my lotion and hair products will make a...
  21. Thanks guys, This helps to know that maybe there IS an identifiable reason for all my problems. My doctors have been completely useless and have told me there is nothing wrong...that its all in my head. I've lost 25 lbs. in the last year and at one point couldnt function at all. Since adjusting my diet so much has improved but still the docs wont believe...
  22. Hi, I'm familiar with the "classic" symptoms and experienced most of them before going gluten-free. Mostly bloating, gas, and constipation...not too much diahrreah though. These GI symptoms have never been my worst symptoms and I really didn't notice GI problems at all for the for the first year and a half of my illness. I was reataining lots of fluid...
  23. Hi, When I was scheduled for my endoscopy/colonoscopy I was suppossed to drink Fleet soda beforehand. At the time I wasn't worried about celiac disease because my blood test had come back neg. I was gluten-free at the time but my docs told me I didnt have to be eating gluten & I believed them. Anyways I bought the wrong stuff and ended up drinking...
  24. Hi, I don't know if I have celiac disease yet (I'm taking Enterolab tests). I seem to have DH on my arms which would suggest Celiac but I'm also pretty sure I have Candida as well. My question is this: Does anyone with celiac disease have very bad chemical sensitivities? I've had this problem for awhile now and I know its quite common with Candida...
  25. Katie, You've been a great help to me today! I ordered the full panel including the gene test and a milk sensitivity test. I actually hope I have Celiac, which may sound strange, but after all I've gone through it would be a relief. Also I'd get to eat alot more than what I'm eating now while on the Candida diet. The gluten-free diet seems like...
