ARCHIVED Gluten Intolerance...
Rachel--24 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Well George, I tried to find out info on sensitivity/intolerance vs. Celiac but didn't really get any answers. All I know is that right now this is feeling like a disease to me I've been eating lots of foods the past few days. I feel good because I'm not getting those gluten reactions but my fluid retention is getting so much worse. It seems like my legs... -
As long as you have gluten in your diet...even the tiniest amount you probably won't be able to gain. I was losing weight gradually (I also lost drinking beer) then I started freaking out about the weight loss so tried to load up on all the fattening foods. I was eating whole loaves of french bread...cakes...ice cream...pasta. Thats when things got really...

ARCHIVED Can Malabsorption Cause...
Rachel--24 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Test results show I have no beneficial bacteria (acidophilus & bifidus). I've been taking probiotics for 3 months but now that I know I have malabsorption I guess I might as well have just flushed the pills down the toilet Has anyone else had this happen...I guess you really wouldn't know unless you were tested. Could the problems caused by gluten consumption... -

Thnx Stephanie & Jnkmnky, The more options...the better. I like to have lots of choices...especially after eating pretty much the same thing EVERY day for 3 1/2 months. I'm in heaven right now....how many people say THAT when they first go gluten-free?? -

I went almost 3 years in pain waiting for the doctors to do something. Not even when I was down to 94 lbs, experiencing massive chemical sensitivities, could barely hold my head up and was unable to eat from extreme nausea...did they help me. What they did was send me to the psychiatrist who I think was astonished that they would think she could help me... -
OK..thanks. Hopefully I'll find it in a store near me. That way I can have it whenever I want
-
Where did you find the Chebe? I was gonna order some but if I can get in a store I'd rather do it that way. Quinoa...apparantly its just me who feels this way but....YUCK! I took a few bites and that was it for me...threw the whole box away. I'm not even a picky eater...I'll eat pretty much anything...ummm except Quinoa! Love Tinkyada though

Flour is in clam chowder??? The whole time I thought I got sick only because of the breadbowl. I also got the same symptoms after eating potato soup at a restaraunt....does that have flour in it as well? I wasn't gluten-free when I ate these things...just going back in my mind to all of the things that I ate which caused me to get sick.

Stepanie...that was quite a good explanation Maybe I should print it and show it to anyone who thinks I can eat gluten again. Luckily so far I dont seem to be reacting badly to any one food I'm eating. I'm just wondering if eating too many different things or processed foods can slow down healing. Yeah...corn CAN be a little boring...I was thinking... -
Thats exactly how I feel about clam chowder...especially when it comes inside of a sourdough breadbowl....Soooo GOOD! I hardly ever get GI symptoms but clam chowder in the breadbowl did me in That was the last time I had it but it was REALLY good..ate the whole thing...bowl and all

I hardly have any GI symptoms other than malabsorption. My most noticable symptoms are depression/irritability/anger/mood swings. My whole life I never experienced anything like this...it only started when I began having problems with food. Took me 3 years to figure out it was gluten. I still cant quite comprehend how this tiny protein can cause such dramatic...

This is exactly what I was told as well...the guy was very condescending and pretty much ridiculed me for even mentioning systemic candida. He got very upset and even though my appt. had nothing to do with Candida we spent the whole time debating over the exsitence of candida which was not my intention. Now that I've tested neg. for candida and pos. for... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Intolerance...
Rachel--24 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I think if I had gotten diagnosed right away or never had symptoms having to all of a sudden go gluten-free would have been devastating to me (especially considering my gluten-filled diet at the time). Since it didn't happen that way for me and I've suffered alot the past few years I'm pretty much embracing the gluten-free diet right now. I've kind of isolated... -

Sorry...I'm not the one to answer your questions since I'm pretty new to this gluten-free stuff myself but here's a link to an older post that lists alot of symptoms associated with celiac disease Open Original Shared Link -

Rachel--24 replied to grantschoep's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thats funny! I guess I won't try that one out Are Kinnikinnick and Chebe only available online? The only gluten-free bread I've ever eaten are the kind that come all hard and frozen with slices that are half the size of a normal piece of bread . I havent had a donut in about a year so I'll definately want to get some of those asap! I definately don... -

Rachel--24 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
OK...thats pretty much what I thought. Somebody mentioned something to me today about it being only temporary and I could probably eat it again later. Like I said..this isn't something I'd really be into trying out but I just wanted to have all the facts. I did order "Dangerous Grains" along with a couple others that were reccommended. They probably wont... -

Is there such thing as a ready made gluten-free pizza crust....kinda like Boboli pizza bread? I'm not too good at baking and usually go for whatever's convenient or easy. I can see I'm gonna have to learn to be more *domestic* if I want to have more baked goods but I'm just not there yet. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Intolerance...
Rachel--24 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Obviously a Celiac must stay gluten-free for life but I'm curious if its the same for intolerance. Does the immune system always react to gluten just as it does in celiac disease or does the problem correct itself after gluten is removed for some time? I'm not asking because I plan on testing my body in the future...I've been through enuff. I won't push it... -
I got my candida stool test results back today and it was negative for candida, parasites or any other pathogens. That is good news for me....I guess I don't have a systemic monster growing inside of me after all I don't know how reliable these tests are so I'll just go easy on the sugar for awhile and probably continue with Nystatin. Strangely I have...

I think if you have a problem with gluten you definately need to be on the diet more than 7 days to feel better. I think you should stick to the diet a little longer...its certainly not going to hurt you and could possibly be the answer to your stomach pains. I think especially since you have Celiac genes and symptoms you should try it. Enterolab tests for... -

There really is no *valid* way to test for systemic Candida. There are tests available such as stool tests but the problem with these tests is that candida exsists naturally in all of our bodies so nobody really knows how much Candida is too much. How much candida in the stool indicates an overgrowth? Also one person might be more sensitive to candida than... -

Actually the best tests ARE the FT4 & FT3 because these show whats actually *available* in the body....some of the hormones are *stored* and not free for the body to use. Not sure if I explained that very well You can still be Hypothyroid and thin...just the same as a hyperthyroid person can be overweight. There are no rules...but yes its more *typical... -

Rachel--24 replied to Jocelyn357's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Jocelyn, I just got my Enterolab results only 2 days ago and I can tell you it was worth every penny. I've had so many tests done over the past 2 1/2 years with everything coming back normal yet my whole world was falling part. I did figure out in the last year that something in my diet was making me sick...just didn't know exactly what until now... -
Tiffany is right...the doctors simply don't believe that there can be a yeast overgrowth in the intestines or that it can become systemic unless you have a compromised immune system such as an AIDS patient. I have an alternative doctor who believes I have systemic Candida but when I try to discuss this with my "regular" docs I am totally ridiculed. I don...

Thanks Stephanie, I do feel better today I was a little freaked out yesterday....not really knowing too much about gluten intolerance. I had mainly been reading about Celiac so I was thinking intolerance was kind of a non-diagnosis I guess. Like it couldn't really be making me this sick. I have a better understanding now thanks to everyone on this...
