  1. Long time no posting.....which is good I suppose. Just got called about our followup appointment for my now 24month old daughter, and thought I'd start rattling off for my own record of the changes since our initial visit in October: -Continued 'functional diarrhea' -increased flushed and warm cheeks. No pattern recognized yet, two to three times a...
  2. For now mentally I'm taking a break on the matter, unless if her severe issues return. We will likely go gluten-free for the two of us if in fact the problem continues and delays her potty training efforts. Luckily she is still not a big pasta or carb eater in the adult sense. If she ever gets over her addiction to saltines and graham crackers...
  3. I've read through the attached documentation and quite a bit of it was very clinical and beyond my current understanding. Could you elaborate a little bit? My daughter does struggle with year-round rhinitis along with her asthma and ezcema. Those confirmed diagnosis were the justifications and explanations given to me regarding her elevated IgE. ...
  4. Sorry for the delay in an update, I'm still trying to decipher how I feel about it. We are done with testing from the GI for now. Official diagnosis? "Functional Diarrhea" Yep, that is where we end this journey. That due to her continue steady growth and maintenance in the 90% in height and weight, that obviously she is absorbing things just fine...
  5. Its been a week and: 1. definitely reacting to strawberries. 2. And the almond milk is making a difference!!! Its only been three full days, so I know she still has soy in her system, but her belly is noticably smaller and her diaper was reasonable yesterday morning!!! She only pooped once in the last 24hrs too!
  6. It sounds like early onset yeast If you do yogurt, I'd suggest loading up. Make sure your liners do not have the plastic top layer as they actually foster the yeast. I hope I'm wrong, but your descriptions sound like when I would have yeast and could felt it too early for my doctor to find it on the slide, but ultimately would end up on diflucan...
  7. We are transitioning her to almond milk for now, so by the end of the week she will be w/o soy. She has developed a bad diaper rash this weekend, but I'm starting to connect that to strawberries. One of her foods that she actually tried and liked, but I'm removing them for now, I know they are a known food allergen for quite a few little ones. My husband...
  8. Last night's diaper was slightly better but was full of undigested material I'm going to try and restrict her soymilk this weekend to see if it makes a difference in the upcoming week in her belly hardness. She ate sliced apples at school yesterday!! That is a big texture milestone for her.
  9. That is actually a very good idea. I'm going to call her peds office to see if she will order the other tests so we could have results before the next gastro appt. Either way, I need one of these doctors to write her a statement to allow the daycare to keep her. If she's so 'normal' then she has to be in daycare. If I use anymore leave at work I'll need...
  10. I lost it last night and had a crying moment out of frustration. Something is off. We are back to square one, she had six blowouts in the last 48hours, two bed changes, five outfits.....her bowels are pure liquid right now. She's chugging down water which is good and it eating well enough (of her limited picky likes) but I'm just waiting for the phone...
  11. Thanks for the info on the probiotics, I should be looking into a new one anyway, I'm not sure its helping at all yet (I know its really early though) I still need to figure out what she is reacting to though, whether its celiac, food intolerances, or whatnot...but she's having severe gas pains that are waking her up. At least that is the only thing...
  12. We are not gluten-free in our house (yet), but I do a lot of whole and clean cooking, perhaps you could try a simple home made 'sweet rice' instead of processed or packaged 'cream of rice.' I always make extra rice, so leftover rice is aplenty in the fridge. I divy up the (cooked white or brown) rice into small plastic containers about 1/2 cup each....
  13. hmm...I didn't realize there was lactose traces in it. Her GI gave us samples, despite knowing she's lactose intolerant?? She is lactose and dairy free (but not casein free) already. I guess there wouldn't be a harm in trying her with almond or rice milk instead of the soy. I've left a message with the ped's nurse to see if we should bump up the...
  14. Same here, in our house I throw the fiber granules into the dinner that everyone eats. My husband and son need it to thin things out, but for myself it is to 'bulk' up things. Fiber works both ways. I think that the fiber helps with my D issues in that it thickens things up and prevents the acidity from being as noticable as without. Like the 'thickener...
  15. She is on a liquid multi-vitamin drop, has been since she was 6months old due to bfing and my limited diet. I need to look into a different one I guess. My non-professional, self-researcher review of the results still give me hesitations: -low vitamin D -low B12 -increased kidney output -stool sample proved 'fast transit' in gut. -high fact content...
  16. Thanks for your feedback, I wish there was something blaringly obvious for her GI or us to know what is the issue. Since our GI appt I've been watching my daughter more closely and have noticed that she is still struggling with reflux. She's quiet about it and swallows it back down, so we've never really had evidence of it since she was about 10months...
  17. I did a gluten-free trial for myself March-July and felt AMAZING. Resumed gluten eating in August and have felt off and struggled ever since, I'm back on it for potential testing. Granted after last week's struggles (I had two near accidents at work of not getting to the restroom in time) I've gone back to low-carb for my primary day to day meals but to...
  18. okay, finally got the fax with 99% of the info: bear with me, I'll give everything I have to see if anyone else can see any issues to monitor since this may simply be a baseline record since the GI office finds nothing note-worthy. Vitamin D:25 (30-74) IgA: 51 (14-106 mg/dl) IgE: 388.5 (<60 IU/ML) H TTG IgA: 0.6 (see below u/ml) -- ??? nothing...
  19. Got a phone call around 6pm tonight, it was hard to catch it all while cooking and dealing with the little one. Celiac tests (the two they did run) were negative Vitamin d low, need increase in multivitamin Glucose elevated but not a concern because she didn't fast for the exam? Kidney function? Above normal...make sure to keep hydrated. Try to increase...
  20. I broke down and called today to prod the GI office along. No news yet, the blood and xray were last week and the stools were on Monday. I'm just cranky, I've had a rough 48hours for myself with my IBS and I was just hoping that we'd hear something. Instead I got the standard 'oh, no news is good news' line from the operator. I probably was snippy...
  21. I don't know if I could have controlled my 'mama-bear' instincts to smart off at him and his arrogance. Nobody should talk down or insult you and your child who live with this daily.
  22. My offices can't provide official results until the are assessed by the specialist. Like an X-ray, the doctor will tell you their preliminary review, but the radiologist can give you final. It's probably stuck waiting on someone's desk
  23. Tests are pending right now. but yes, she's often 'rosy cheeked' and we've never found the cause. I figured it was just some of my irish fairskinned blood coming through on occasion. ha! Its not everyday, more like every two or three days and it lasts about five to six hours. Since it never lasts too long or seem to bother her we've never really paid...
  24. I read that she's on an inhaler, but is it albuterol or a daily preventative for asthma? She may need to be assessed by her ped if a daily preventative for asthma may be recommended. The nighttime coughing is often the first early symptom for asthma and other breathing difficulties....I have an 8yr and an 18month old both dx as asthmatic. I've had a baby...
  25. I just realized that nobody told me how long the blood test results would be? The draw was at 4pm on a Friday, so I figure today is day1 in regards to processing time. Any ideas on how soon to expect results? ten business days?
