  1. Discussion with DH-- DH-you act like eating gluten is going to kill you Me-your right I don't have celiacs, but why would I want to eat something that will make me feel bad DH-you don't follow the diabetic diet Me-yes, I struggle with that, but the effect of that is years away (kidney diease, eye sight, amputation) but if I eat gluten my bones hurt and...
  2. lol, nope the real stuff (from grandkids bucket). Hoping it levels out soon. Seem to be going up and down a lot.
  3. Lets see I've been gluten free since 10/19 except on episode. I'm non-celiac gluten intolerant. Energy has increased, no more extreme fatigue but I don't think I'm still at 100% although that may be hard to figure out since they took 1/2 lung 2 yrs ago. No weight loss yet, I'm maintaining taking in 1700-2000 calories. Healthier skin, hair-I hope...
  4. If your diabetic, does your body process sugar different once you stop eating gluten. The reason I ask is candy is starting to make me a little neausa now.
  5. Endomysial antibody IGA-negative T-transglutaminase (TTG) IGA-<2 Immunoglobulin A, QN, serum-233 Positive response to diet. The endocrinologist mentioned gluten sensitivity and false negatives. She suggested gluten free diet since I feel better on it, not to mention it wouldn't hurt me and would help the diabetes. Opinions?..
  6. Correct, since most food issues such as this are a control issue. I just switched what I controlled. I started at 500/day then each week added another 100/day until I was at 1200.
  7. First let me say, I'm so sorry for what you are going thru. Our minds work in funny ways. I'll tell you how I overcame my challenge back when i was a teenager. When I was anorexic (many many yrs ago), it was a control thing. I COULD control how much food I didn't eat, even if I couldn't control other things. To overcome this I made eating calories a control...
  8. Hoping I can organize the freezer Friday and do some gluten free OAMC, assuming the auditors are gone from work by then.
  9. Had to work late, so DH pulled something from freezer (we OAMC) from a few months ago to go with my rice. He said it was safe. While eating it, I asked are you sure (tummy felt different, not sick just not well). He said yes, it's just homemade mamwich. Now I'm bloated, general feeling of unwell, headache and sort of feel like going to have D. So do I...
  10. Prior to lung surgery and now the tummy issues. I did calories in vs out. Now once I feel better I'll be doing it again with gluten and diabetic restrictions
  11. As to the cutting calories to low, keep in mind everyone is different. When my metabolism was tested two yrs ago, my basal rate was 1400ish. Meaning if I stayed in bed my body would need that much to keep me alive and healthy. So to me 1200 would throw me into starvation even though all the calculators say it wouldn't.
  12. Educate yourself. Case in point if I had listened to the surgeon who explained my lung birth defect to me, I would have eventually died from infection throughout my body. Instead, I researched and everything said remove the area. I really don't blame the doctor in this case, she went off the CT report and the two pulmonogist and two thoracic surgeons I saw...
  13. I so understand that.
  14. I was off for 4 days, then back on for 10, now at 2 days off. I wanted to cry every night during the on time because I felt so bad. I'm not sure if it was really worse or it just felt that way because I knew how it felt to eat without being sicker afterward. Now I'm holding at a baseline "car/motion sick" instead of "stomach virus" kind of sick So I know...
  15. GottaSki, thanks so much for responding so quickly. It helps to know your not alone.
  16. Went to breakfast with DH, eggs were nasty so all I ate was 3 slices bacon (DH was rushing me so no snack fixed to take). Then we headed to run some errands, with the final one being a wholesale club. I skipped every single sample, avoided the apple cider donuts that DH kept talking about as we walked the whole store. During this time I was starving (it had...
  17. I had my blood work this am and went gluten free today. I need to lose 15-25lbs, but more importantly I need to feel good. Wondering if anyone wants to post back and forth to keep motivation up.
  18. Thank you. I'll give it a try when I'm out of this box
  19. I saw this recipe on GIG site.. RICE FLOUR BLEND INGREDIENTS 6 cups Brown or White Rice Flour 2 cups Potato Starch 1 cup Tapioca Flour Would this be same as all purpose flour in recipe? Trying to figure out most economical solution. I bought a box of bisquick, but at $5 a box it is to high to sneak gluten free into my family cooking.
  20. So to make gravy for biscuits, do that and add milk instead of broth?
  21. I think they will need the range on bottom three (waiting on my results so not sure). As to the rest, not sure on h,pylori. The CMP (all the others) look fine. They are better than mine.
  22. Thanks everyone. I'll read 101 thinking this may be a lot harder Than I thought
  23. I know it's advised to eat at home in beginning, but lunch date planned months ago. Had my blood work thins am (already decided going gluten free today-not willing to do biopsies when it doesn't change treatment). So I had Mexican buffet-lettuce, cheese, refried beans, beef with onions, chicken with onions/peppers, tortilla chips. That's it other than...
  24. Get tested first. I feel as if I'm dying, went gluten free for only 4 days. Endo finally answered and said she will run the blood work (tomorrow), so I have been eating gluten at each meal for last 10 days. Never thought I would be happy to never see bread or pasta again.
  25. This will be my first gluten free. Not sure how supportive my hubby will be, when I asked if he would figure out a gluten free stuffing, he just ignored my need and said there wasn't any. He loves to cook for family gatherings, but not if I have a special need. So I need easy ideas I can cook.
