  1. Any one else have their total cholesterol and HDL drop suddenly? I haven't been gluten free (test Friday), but it dropped from 182 to 150 and the hdl (suppose to be greater than 50) dropped from 47 to less than 15 in 4 months.
  2. I've seen posts about having separate utensils and stuff, but if it is going thru dishwasher between uses is it neccasary?
  3. Welcome to the group. Everyone is super nice and supportive here

    ARCHIVED I

Very happy for you, currently eating gluten for test on 19th, then I'm done. It only took four days off for me to confirm what I suspected. I had already decided I didn't need diagnosis when my endocrinologist answered my plea to add the blood work to my other tests. My PCP said you need a GI consult (like I have tons of money for tests). Btw your vision...
  5. KikiB, I understand your feelings. I went gluten free after PCP said no to blood work and wants me to have endoscopy and colonoscopy (can't afford and it doesn't change treatment). Then four days later my endocrinologist says that she will order it with my other labs, so I'm back to eating it and wondering how I was surviving and just accepting of feeling...
  6. Can you post the cake recipe? It would be great to join my hubby in desert on his birthday.
  7. My endo is going to do blood test, so going back to gluten after being off 4 days. Test on the 19th.
  8. Been gluten free 4 days, except for small amount 2 days ago. Just found out endo added blood test to my orders for 19th. How much do I need to eat each day? Feel so much better without it.
  9. GottaSki I already went gluten free. I tried everything I could to talk him into it, was about in tears. If need be I'll do a challenge latter.
  10. Been diabetic for awhile, just discovered the gluten issue (no diagnosis at this point). The best advice I can give is to calories in versus calories out (1500 is a good number or do a web search for calorie need calculator). Really measure/weigh your food. Most normal portions are really two portions. Nuts can run up calorie counts quickly
  11. I agree on the Endo, why take the risk when it will change nothing other than your checkbook balance, you still need gluten free life. Kaitiana, glad to see I'm not the only one skipping formal diagnosis. PCP said he thinks it is, just worried about malabsorption so see GI for tests (guessing he has great insurance, I don't)
  12. Thanks for the replies. Had pasta for breakfast and by lunch was feeling a million times worse. Since I'm diabetic, still force feed myself a gluten free lunch and called my PCP associate for appointment. Told him about my fatigue and tummy issues and my little white lie. He seemed ready to do test until he asked about bowel movements (yes, I'm a nurse but...
  13. White bumpy patches? Do they itch, occasionally turn red? I have it most of the time on the back of my upper arms. Is this a form of DH?
  14. I so understand, I will be going glutten free silently if my blood work is negative (I can tell a difference just going gluten free one meal). I want to feel better! The lung surgery was suppose to make me normal again, although most can't see the exhaustion even the hubby but my son can. His view is he would worry if I felt good. As to the percentages...
  15. Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm 43, married, mother to special needs son. I have not been diagnosed by a Dr, but the way I feel better when I eat a non gluten meal tells me this may be the answer. I pretty much ruled out wheat allergy, because reacted to a granola with barley malt. I realize that until tested I need the gluten, so one meal a day contains...
  16. My old PA (she moved away) told me Biotin supplement. Of course we never thought to investigate the cause; more concerned with low grade fevers.
  17. I narrowed down my problem (is it wheat or gluten) by seeing if I reacted to barley malt in granola.. I did so gluten causes my reaction. Now to continue to eat it until I hear if my Endo will run the blood work panel on the 22nd
  18. I think I started falling apart at 35. First gall bladder, then PCOS, diabetes, moved on to rare lung birth defect (dx at 40 and removed 1/2 lung). Now more tummy issues than normal. Most of time feel better with low blood sugar compared to how I feel after eating.
