  1. Sure! I used the recipe from Open Original Shared Link. I copied and pasted it below, but I'll write what I changed in brackets: 1/2 cup shortening (I used Soy Garden or Earth Balance (I have both, so I am not sure which one) 1/2 cup sugar (I used a scant 1/8 cup of Sucanat) 1/2 cup molasses 1 egg 1 Tbsp vinegar 3 cups Bean Flour Blend (I used a...
  2. I'm SO glad you didn't eat it! I've got sick off of the cornmeal, too - unfortunately, I didn't know about all that gluten-free labelling stuff with those products until it was too late.
  3. During my celiac, my weight constantly went down. I am 5'8'' and hit a low of 78 lbs. We were all so, so scared, and it got to the point that I couldn't walk anymore. Anyway, we found out I was eating Bob's carob powder (almost daily I would have a hot carob drink) and that is not from his gluten free facility. As soon as I had it out of my diet.....
  4. Alright, Christmas, I am ready: Today I made: gingerbread muffins sugar cookies gingerbread men amaranth cookies quinoa crispies bark and my first bread machine bread that was not 1/2 size with a gooey centre. all casein and gluten free!
  5. Well, I kept getting sicker and sicker and hit a really low weight of 88lbs. (I am 5'7''). Turns out, I've been consuming gluten this whole time - Bob's Red Mill carob powder is not gluten free. I'm a little irritated at my stupidity. Could this have been why I am having so much trouble getting better? Because of one thing?!!! I looked back at my...
  6. I have made a lot of oatmeal-y stuff with quinoa flakes, so I can't see them not turning out. It's an easy recipe to halve - just make half the batch and see how it goes? And on my Christmas baking schedule (haha, for real), I have a few cookies that I am trying new with quinoa instead of oatmeal. I have faith!
  7. Other than veggies and fruit and all that yummy stuff that is naturally gluten free... 1. Almond Breeze milk 2. Nut butters 3. Starbucks Coffee 4. Celestial Seasonings teas 5. Nature's Path Cornflakes (not the honey ones) BUT I'm allergic to rice so there is so much I haven't tried! I'll say what I think mom's would be, too, because she is also...
  8. I just got diagnosed in August. What about you?
  9. Okay, so I got glutened three days ago, and everything I have ate afterwards has went right through me. You know, when it gets to the point that you're laughing on the toilet because it's just been your best bud. Anyway, tonight for a snack I was FAMISHED, and ate literally everything in site for 45 minutes: I was cracking nuts right and left, I had four...

  11. Hi everyone, Does anyone have trouble with just certain flavours of extracts?
  12. Cool! You look relatively young - are you a student?
  13. Welcome to the boards? Did you just get diagnosed?
  14. No way, I don't think you're paranoid. This morn I went out for coffee with my dad and he grabbed me a lid (after sharing it in the hand with his huge Starbucks Breakfast cookie ), and put it on the table, face down. I nudged it in the trash and grabbed another and I said, "ONE CRUMB, dad!" And we laughed - because it's so serious, but so silly.
  15. Ha, thanks but I would NEVEr eat at McDonald's! Just was grabbing a drive-thru coffee.
  16. Before diagnosis, my mom and I followed SBD for over a year. We both were successful. We have adapted it into our life - so pm me with specifics! I can help you out.
  17. Okay, McDonalds (in Canada, at least) uses Mother Parker's instant coffee for their decaf. I drank it over the course of my gluten free diet, and although have been feeling better, not 100%. I don't drink it every day, but I go through times were I drink it more often. Anyway - I think it might have gluten, OR I got cross contaminated (because they...
  18. It's somewhat ambiguous... I read some are fine, then I read that they could be cross contaminated... I want to buy Schneider's Fat-Free Hot dogs. Does anyone eat these? I sure hope so. I haven't had a hot dog in over 8 years. And for some reason (I find this happens a lot with celiac) I am craving something random.
  19. Does anyone know which ones are? What about those fancy flavoured ones? Thanks!
  20. I've never had an energy drink before and I probably wouldn't try it because it has an ingredient that I don't sit well with - I was simply curious. Thanks though.
  21. Any ideas if Rockstar Energy Drink or the diet version, are gluten free?
  22. Make sure we add that the first thing that'll happen if they screw up is that we're going to poop all over their restroom.
  23. I'm half Polish.
  24. Do you mean, like, inside your body?
  25. Heya Jackie - give them a call. They easily have answered all my questions. I stock up in the states, too - did you head to Wegman's?
