  1. I understand that, auzzi. What alarmed me was that the Wrigley corporation seemed to be listing a product with a wheat ingredient (as a primary ingredient, no less!) as gluten-free, which made me feel a bit uneasy about the *company* overall. The ingredients are clearly either different in the US, or have different names. I by the way *suspect* a lot...
  2. The night sweats may be due to a Vit D deficiency, which would not be surprising if you have celiac.
  3. This is something I've been wondering as well. Seems like a double-edged sword- you become more vulnerable, but at least you know for sure when you've done something wrong. I'm pretty sure right now (just starting out) I still wouldn't know. (For one thing, even when my diet was full of gluten, I'd feel OK sometimes and other times I'd have pretty bad...
  4. I have similar issues as well and am in the same boat of having to figure out new "emergency foods." I'm doing the chex thing too (guess we all have the same thought process, lol!), and have also been using candy I know if gluten-free (M&Ms and Starburst)- which isn't ideal but works as a quick rescue, though long-term I suspect it perpetuates the problem...
  5. I have emailed the company and will post when they get back to me. Some additional info, which kind of conflicts: On the side of "Wrigley's gum is generally safe:" about.com's list of gluten-free candies: Open Original Shared Link and list of gluten-free gums: Open Original Shared Link A rather alarming seeming-contradiction, from their own...
  6. This answer is over a year old, but it's got some good info: Open Original Shared Link
  7. Have looked into Wrigleys' and am feeling kind of confused about their gluten-free status. There's info, but nothing especially recent. Their AUNZ site lists gluten-free products, but the US site kind of passes the buck: Do Wrigley’s products contain gluten? While some Wrigley products may contain gluten, the majority of our products are gluten-f...
  8. I use Aquaphor when my hands get super-dry; also use it as a chapstick substitute (whether it be related to celiac or not, I started havig a ghastly reaction to chapstick years ago and switched to Aquaphor at my doctor's reccommendation). It feels kinda icky but you get used to it and it works wonders. Dunno what its gluten-free status is but it looks like...
  9. So, my GI specialist has strongly reccommended that I take multivitamins, especially while I am starting to be gluten-free and my insides are still damaged from gluten. What makes this tricky is that I don't tolerate multivitmains very well; Centrum complete (pill form) is the only multivitamin I've fully established doesn't make me really sick (they upset...
  10. Tangent, but would you happen to have a source for this, or a resource you could link me to with more info on what other nutrients most often get lost when one stops eating processed/fortified bread products? They have been a big part of my diet so that's probably something I ought to think about; I've been primarily focusing on protien and iron (fiber would...
  11. This is a tangent, but I am sort of curious to read the study "linking" celiac to cancer if you'd care to link it; depending where/when/why the study was done, it's possible those were "real" results, but correlation =/= causality. Very simplistic example: Everyone in the world who eats gluten will eventually die. Does this mean gluten is poisonous to...
  12. Could use a little support or feedback or something. Kinda in limbo at the moment. [history] Had symptoms which celiac could explain for *years.* Primarily (but not limited to) intense abdominal pain/GI issues and fatigue/energy issues. Talked to my doctors last year, but unfortunately I didn't talk to my PCP herself, and I ended up having my worries...
