ARCHIVED Nuts And Seeds- Blue Diamond, Diamond Foods (Inc. Emerald Nuts), David
Em314 replied to Em314's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Dear Em314, Most of our almonds are wheat & gluten free. The ones you will want to avoid are the following: o AVOID BOLD Wasabi & Soy Sauce (wheat is in the seasonings and is listed on the label) o AVOID - Jordan Almonds Good Manufacturing Practices are utilized, including thorough cleaning of production lines to reduce the risk of cross contamination...- 3 replies

As an update: Still looking into additional sources of fat (and still figuring the weight thing out), but adding nuts into my diet helped my skin quickly and dramatically (it was red/dry/clearly not healthy), and didn't seem to exacerbate the weight issue as I had feared it would. Had to tweak my skincare regimen a little bit (I'd dialed it back a bit due...

ARCHIVED Groupon For Katz Gluten Free
Em314 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Popped up in my email today. I don't think I'll make the investment, but thought I'd share (I've seen someone on here do the same thing awhile back): Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Endoscopy - Affect On Symptoms
Em314 replied to dilettantesteph's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I felt reeeeeeally wiped out and kinda like I had a low grade fever for a day or two after, but I don't remember much else being wrong. -
That sounds kind of profound, like it ought to be in a fortune cookie.

ARCHIVED Does Anyone Here Use Lysol For Cleaning?
Em314 replied to 123glldd's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Not sure how you'd know except by asking the company. Or by asking "So, anyone get sick from drinking lysol?" -
ARCHIVED Probiotics
Em314 replied to Luv2teach's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Even Stop & Shop has culturelle. It's an easy-to-find brand. =) -
ARCHIVED Nuts And Seeds- Blue Diamond, Diamond Foods (Inc. Emerald Nuts), David
Em314 replied to Em314's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
(didn't want this to get lost in my own original OP): Anyone have any thoughts re: the responses? Anyone have any experiences, good or bad, with these products? Would you try/eat them? I feel like they're probably safe and the responses are carefully worded as CYA rather than a general lack of safety, but I'm also hesitant to risk accidentally glutening...- 3 replies

Recently started looking into what nuts and seeds might be safe for me to eat. Already established that Planter's nuts (made by Kraft) have labeling that I trust, and I seem to be tolerating Planter's nuts quite well. I sent out queries to a few additional common companies. Here are their replies, for those who might also benefit from this info. I'm going...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Nuts?
Em314 replied to notkuroda's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Kraft is pretty good about labeling gluten and possible gross-contamination; they make Planters nuts, which I have had no problems with, and which are very easy to find. I don't believe I am extremely sensitive, though (if I am, I have not yet realized it, anyway). -
ARCHIVED Probiotics
Em314 replied to Luv2teach's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Culturelle is one of the more popular and well-researched brands, and is gluten-free. -
ARCHIVED Do You Get Colds And Flu Over And Over?
Em314 replied to gatita's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Are you sure it's you, and not just that something's going around? I was sick almost all month in January, but I think that was as much about the crazy flu season as it was about my own immune system. Almost nobody I knew *didn't* get sick at least once. Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED "you Can Eat Just A Little Bit, Can't You?"
Em314 replied to Monklady123's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I may or may not be alone in this, but I'm kind of curious to know how it goes when you bring it up. There are quite a few reaosns people "food-push;" some are cultural, some are nurturing, but sometimes also much less benign. In the latter case, people with their own food issues will try to drag others down so they're "not the only one." Sort of the... -
ARCHIVED In Pain... Again
Em314 replied to Em314's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thank you for the info. I am going to proceed for now on the cautiously optimistic assumption that I'm just more sensitive right now because I'm healing, and am still discovering what foods I'm sensitive to, but I will speak with my GI doc about the possibility of ulcer as a co occuring condition, especially if it doesn't continue to improve. I have been... -
ARCHIVED In Pain... Again
Em314 replied to Em314's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
eers- I've noticed the timing thing too! Not just avoiding eating before bed; time of day during the day effects sytmpoms during the day on the same day (non-gluten foods, which are from what I can tell, primarily high acidity foods). I've considered posting about it/asking about it but haven't gotten around to it yet. I seem more able to handle more... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Else Have Allergies To Cat And Dust Disappear After Giving Up Gluten?
Em314 replied to RyanIN's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My allergies (primary symptom is constant low-level sinus issues, espeically congestion) seem to have improved a wee bit but I deem it too early to tell if it's "real" or not. I'm not sure if it's logical or not but it's nice, anyway. -
ARCHIVED In Pain... Again
Em314 replied to Em314's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Last week, I had my first fully pain-free week in what was definitely months and maybe even years. So, for that, hooray. I'm increasingly convinced I have issues with acid reflux, too, though, pure and simple. For example, had some pain last night, and the only two non-typical foods I had were peanut M&Ms (prepackaged, I have no issues that I have... -
ARCHIVED What's Soy Doing In My F*ing Tea!?
Em314 replied to Pegleg84's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Can I just say: I love the title of this thread. I think we all have that approximate thought about random contamination of what *should* be benign foods every now and again. -
ARCHIVED "you Can Eat Just A Little Bit, Can't You?"
Em314 replied to Monklady123's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
That's really bizarre... even if you didn't have celiac and just plain didn't *want* the cake, she should have taken no for an answer. You shouldn't "need" a "legit medical reason" not to eat cake. Ironically, there really was a debate awhile ago that was all over the news for a bit about how much arsenic is "acceptable." Open Original Shared... -

ARCHIVED Probiotics - Culturelle
Em314 replied to GFreeMO's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
re: OP- I just bought Culturelle "Health & Wellness Immunity Support Formula." Seems like it's pretty much the same as digestive health, except this one has more of the Lactobacillus GG, but doesn't have chicory root extract. It'll be hard to tell what I can give credit to, because I'm still healing (and at the moment adjusting a couple of variables... -
Now, if only I could find an easily-accessible and cheap nut brand that didn't say the nuts come from a facility that processes wheat. More ressearch, I suppose. EDIT: Planter's.

That's my worry not only with peanut butter, but also with things like nuts where you're supposed to just have a handful. I have the vague hope that I might get a little better about self-control when I've gotten used to a firmer connection between food and satiety, but even if that's going to happen, it won't happen immediately, or even probably soon. ...

I'll have to try an avacado at some point. Right now I seem to react badly to eggs (they were my first choice for a quick source of fat/iron/protien); I'm not sure if this is something that will be permanent but I'm not eager to test it anytime soon. =(

One of the things I'm still struggling with (and chronically struggled with, even when I ate gluten) is how and where to get more fat into my diet. Almost every potential fat source seems to also add a ton of calories, which is a bit of a deterrent. I'm trying to lose the weight I've put on over the last several months; it's obnoxious that I seem to be...
