  1. I love hearing these stories did any one have lingering loose bowels? Nothing I eat seems to help. Am gluten free, dairy free, caffeine free, sugar free. And vegetarian. Ugh!
  2. Yes, I'm thinking maybe the nightsweats I've experienced twice could've been a glutening... It's so frustrating this celiac?!
  3. I'm a sort of newbie, getting to grips with stuff. Loving the forum (thank mother earth for this forum!). I've been gluten-free for 10-11 weeks, had various odd symptoms and strange body things not to mention the mention hairloss. But. I keep reading about being gluttened... What are the symptoms? I've just posted a topic on the different levels of celiac...
  4. Hello all Just been wondering, it seems (having been on this forum for a bit reading stories) that there are different 'levels' of celiac. But how can this be, surely you are celiac or you are not? Is this just down to sensitivity? (ie like with an allergy response) I have been worried about handling bread etc whilst making my little boys sandwiches but...
  5. Oh yes, luxurious hair pleeeease! And a little holiday in Spain would be very nice... If only. Will have to make do here though and keep cheery with you guys instead Nvsmom omg, -25!! Respect! Glad you're having a bright day tho, makes a difference... Also can't believe you've been undiagnosed for so long, terrible pity that this happens. Onwards...
  6. @motorchicked Hi Karen Thanks for your story, it's helpful to see others with similar problems... Cushings syndrome... I thought that was more something someone got after having steroids for a long time (I 'm asthmatic)... Do you have the bloated face symptoms too? I guess pseudo cushings is just the symptoms?? I will look it up. I think diet plays such...
  7. Wow nvsmom, your bloods are great then really! Good for you! I wonder then if being hypo is directly related to celiac or whether if you feel you had it anyway for 15 years perhaps it's a coincidence? I would love to know how long I've been celiac. My doc reckons I must have been for a very long time as my ferritin is so low. Hmmm. I've actually been free...
  8. Ah thanks guys... Sorry yeah I know I wasn't being patient! I've been living on this forum lately so it felt like ages to me. I'm very pleased to hear that you are feeling good, one of you after 10 years and one after 1 month. That's fabulous! It seems that most people on here have other health issues to (mostly connected with celiac?) thanks for responding
  9. Silly question maybe, but today i guess I'm looking for hope! Is anyone (whether immediately after going gluten-free or even with additional health problems) feeling good? Feeling healthy? Feeling 'normal'?! Feeling happy? Apart from the inconvenience of strictly avoiding gluten, is life good? I'd love to hear anybody's story, I'd really appreciate...
  10. Hi there Just wondering as Christmas approaches and deciding I might be well enough by then for a little 'tipple'... Anyone know what alcoholic drinks are gluten-free in the UK? Which red wines are safe? (safe as in not kept in a flour paste sealed barrel!) Any responses very welcome!! It's been a loooong time since I had a drink and am feeling festive
  11. Oops should have said 'comb' not come! I'll blame it on the brain fog!
  12. @nvsmom Hugs to you too. What happened to your thyroid? Is that since being gluten free? I am pretty sure I haven't ingested any gluten as I have no other gi symptoms... Unless of course it's possible that it would affect my hair? I have some really odd symptoms since being gluten free from odd moving pains, joint aches, pinching gland pain to funny...
  13. @kamma I hope you are right, am trying my hardest not to stress as I know it doesn't help. Funnily enough my bloods came back for vit d yesterday eve! I am very deficient! I have a level of 40 (normal range 75-110) So... Vit d here I come... Perhaps it may sort some of the aches and pains I have been experiencing along with this horrid horrid hairloss...
  14. @ rosetapper23... Is it really true that you can get cancer from having low iron stores for over 2 years??? That's very worrying, I was diagnosed (finally after many years) with celiac and a ferritin level of 2.4. I'm in supplements now, it's going up very slowly but this is worrying as I have always been on the low side for ferritin due to being vegetarian...
  15. Thank you! I will defo try the vit d! Really appreciate your help, you described me also, I dread even touching my hair as it is falling away, everyday, tons of it utterly devastating Have you been gluten-free for long, how long before you saw results taking vit d? I know it's obviously not a quick thing... Also, what's your hair like now? Is it back...
  16. Thanks for all your responses... Btw, I have seen an osteopath recently who puts me into alignment! I don't think it's that though... Parasites... Oooooo, have no idea about that? Update re pains... They have somewhat diminished, actually disappeared for a few days... And to date I only seem to be having mild twinges and aches here and there. Fingers crossed...
  17. Thanks for that. I'm actually awaiting vit d blood results do that will be interesting. Also I have also stopped dairy which might lower my vit d levels.... Interesting... There's so much to learn, just hope I don't go completely bald before I sort it out... It's quite distressing to loose your hair, I'd never even given it a thought before. I wonder, did...
  18. Hello Just wondered if anyone would know why my hair is falling out so badly... It has thinned considerably in last 2 years, obviously as I have since found out that I had a ferritin level of 2.4. I have been gluten-free (inc shampoo) for 10 weeks and on iron supplements too, but the hairloss is really increasing and I'm now frightened to wash my hair....

  20. Really??? Are you sure it's not just down to manufacturing? I've been eating quinoa since diagnosis nearly every other day and I have had no gi problems? Like you, I also hope it's gluten free! Apparently it's not even a grain, so we should be ok!
  21. Thanks GottaSki, it's so great to not feel quite so isolated, to have friends!! Friends that understand. And have knoweledge. This is such a great support
  22. Awesome. I wonder if it's my celiac or just being so iron deficient that triggered the high platelets ... Very interesting, I'm sure I'd read it somewhere (though not sure it was there). It's so frustrating going to see the doctors, it really is.... Once again, thaaaank you!
  23. Hello! You're a star, you really ought to charge a fee?!! Am just off to read the link ...
  24. Actually laughed out loud when I read your last post, it's so true! It's strange, I would never have seen myself as one to get stressed by such things but since I have been ill I've kind of lost my way. And my memory. And health etc etc. Thanks for that. I am starting to come here for advice instead of my doctors as they don't seem to know very much at...
