ARCHIVED Dental Health And Celiac
designerstubble replied to ChrisRR's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I know, an utter martyr! Gluten free, cigarette free, dairy free (snivel weep), caffeine free (slit wrists), processed and sugar free almost! ( waaaaaaaaa!) My poor poor body doesn't know what's going on. And I used to be so rock n roll! Unfortunately I'm not alcohol free. Red wine... Not a lot.. But a bit! And I look worse than I did before? Go figure...- 26 replies

ARCHIVED Dental Health And Celiac
designerstubble replied to ChrisRR's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I forgot that I've actually had 3 teeth removed too! Ha! So long ago. Because they crumbled. Hmmmmm. Interesting. I hope I haven't been celiac that long, though the more I read and research the more likely it's looking. Sorry for being dense but what is gum surgery? (I quit smoking 3 months ago after dx and have receding gums.)- 26 replies

Oh that's fantastic, I'm so pleased for you. You must be very happy. Have you had any other celiac symptoms? I've also had big hairloss. I feel like Cinderella ugliest sister! So does the enamel look 'thicker'? Have you healed easily with gi symptoms? I've been looking at my teeth today! I've only been gluten-free for 3months... But my gums are pinker...- 26 replies

ARCHIVED Biopsy Result At Last. Help Understanding It!
designerstubble replied to designerstubble's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well now GFinDC, must admit you've made me laugh!!! Thank you! Google university!! I'm there now, it's a tough course! Anyway, you saw Dr Fasano? Thanks for the link btw, I've got major brain ache as I have just spent the last 2 hours reading up on him via my cell, and my eyes are crossed now. Very verrrry interesting indeed! The pregnancy fits for me... -

Wooah, 43 years undiagnosed? That's rough. Is that perhaps why you are taking longer to heal?? You are so positive, actually an inspiration... How did you get through that first endo being told that you hadn't healed. Its my nightmare ( I've become a real pessimist these last few years, prob celiac related). Respect to you, seriously. So is this why you... -

GFinDC... That was really interesting. How do you know so much?! Experience I guess? and tons of reading?! So. It's basically down to immune system. And whatever it is that triggers the response in the first place. I've read that pregnancy and the rotavirus are common, does that seem right? Do you believe stress could be an indicator of how quickly... -

GottaSki, am very glad to hear you are finally starting to heal. Do you have any idea why it's taken so long?? Really interested to know. Where undiagnosed for a long time before? Do you have any other endos coming up or was that a recent one on the marsh scale 3? I guess 3 months is a lot to ask in terms of complete healing. I'm annoyed I guess that... -

Skysmom! Thank you so much. Your husbands story really is quite awesome. Amazing infancy that he has no other problems with food. Was he like this from the beginning? I am wondering if he eats the usual gluten-free stuff available or if he adopted a whole foods diet. I am still struggling with bloats and gas and new allergies and ezcema. Your son Skylar... -

ARCHIVED Dental Health And Celiac
designerstubble replied to ChrisRR's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Omg. These stories are freaking me out. I have had virtually all my teeth root canaled (the molars), I have one implant and other fillings. It started as a child. I never truly thought I have had celiac since I was a child... Now I'm beginning to wonder. I have always had weak teeth... And didn't understand why as I took care if them. Like they were going...- 26 replies

ARCHIVED Biopsy Result At Last. Help Understanding It!
designerstubble replied to designerstubble's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
What a story Skysmom. I am so pleased he's getting better. It's strange because I had some of it happen similar. Though my bouts lasted 3 weeks each time. And I was going to the toilet 20 times per day. Lost lots of weight. But it came back on in between bouts. Also I had the terrible foul smelly gas for about 2 years before... Lots of tummy rumbling and... -

Thanks gluten-free. Hope you're right, it's quite upsetting to think I am seriously damaged I have a suspicion a am damaged throughout the small bowel as I have pains in various same places. If I get irritated they hurt. I think this is the damage. I dunno, could be wrong but feel quite tuned into it. Even if I have villi wipeout in some areas it's still... -
ARCHIVED Biopsy Result At Last. Help Understanding It!
designerstubble replied to designerstubble's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Wow, your poor husband. I had bouts of severe illness too and extreme anaemia (ferritin 2.4), I was like a zombie. My doctors didn't allow me to go gluten-free, it was a risk I took. Gut instinct. (No pun intended!). They told me to stay on the gluten until endoscopy in 2 weeks. I waited 4 weeks, and watched as my notes were faxed emailed, to various consultants... -

designerstubble replied to designerstubble's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, I see! I did wonder if I'd get a false neg. but to be honest I was SO ill, and my useless doctor and local hospital spent nearly 4 months organising my endoscopy that I had to go gluten-free. (They couldn't organise teddy bears picnic honestly complete waste of space!)....(Secretly glad I did tbh). Maybe I had total villious atrophy before? And I... -

Hello Jillian Where about in the UK are you?, I'm in the south about to move to Bournemouth. Sorry you're having a crap time, you're in the right place though, these guys on here are wonderful. I've just been diagnosed, gluten-free for 3 months. I had a rash very minor though compared to other pics. Mainly on hairline down the sides... A little bit in the... -

Wow, love 2 travel! Your teeth have strengthened?? That's awesome. How long did that take being gluten-free? I have had weak enamel these last few years (obviously didn't know why), and had lots of cavities etc... Be nice to know I could possibly regain some dental health back! Also have sensitive teeth! Thanks for your story- 26 replies

ARCHIVED Biopsy Result At Last. Help Understanding It!
designerstubble posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hello again Received my biopsy results finally. My useless doctor could not interpret them for me properly and glossed over it by telling me I am now confirmed coeliac. Yep! Ok, thanks for that, lovely. If any one could help... I'd just like to know what degree of damage I have. I have an idea of what it all means but being new just like some other opinions... -
ARCHIVED Hairloss After gluten-free And Iron Supplementation?
designerstubble replied to designerstubble's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Kamma you are so very right, by far the worst symptom. My confidence plummeted. I didn't realise just how much of me relied on my hair as I've always had lots of long strong hair. I feel very vain admitting it, that losing my hair is so upsetting, I wish I wasn't so vain. It's a shame we rely so heavily on our looks eh?!
