  1. Oh seeds... I eat seeds. It's the 'not knowing' that taxes me so much. (I just ate a banana, having a sugar high) thank you
  2. @juliebove I totally understand the hive thing you poor thing. I have had hives in reaction to animals and dust, but since I avoid them I have not had hives for 20 years! Except for now. And it's totally destroying to think that it's now from food. I'm in giving up mode today. Eat nothing. Just on the herbal tea. Though I'm sure I'll eventually react to...
  3. Thanks for replying. It's a real downer. If I cut much more out I'll have nothing left. (Vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free, caffeine free, soya free, corn free, virtually processed free!) I hope it's not eggs, (although the increase in the amount I eat is substantial recently). Also can't have nuts lentils and legumes in house as my son is allergic...
  4. Hola. Well, I've ignored various (nothing major) intermittent small patches of hives around my body these last three gluten-free months... I have even almost ignored 3/4 small lots of hives around one eye... But tonight I'm annoyed. I ate an omelette (nothing new), onions peppars, bit of paprika, rocket, few green beans. 1 hour later... Warm eye...
  5. Pumpkin seeds!! I have been eating these everyday for breakfast since diagnosis! I didn't know that they contained copper, mainly eating them for omega's and protein. Woo! Oh I hope you're right, and I will be excited. I've been looking in the mirror thinking I looked like a fluffy chick! But I thought that perhaps it was just because I'd lost a lot of...
  6. Thanks bumblebee! Great post, just you tubed the clip in's, they look great! Gonna get some! Thanks for your help, it's so warming to know you're not alone... Not that I wish this hairloss business on anyone, really, it's so distressing. Update: been on the vit d a few weeks, hairloss seems to have slowed, though I'm frightened to talk about it really...
  7. I had Salmonella 10 years ago, I was extremely ill. I had a very very high dose of antibiotics as I remember the docs explaining that it could otherwise make you very ill. I guess I was bad for about 3 weeks and it took about another month for my guts to settle... I suppose it could cause ongoing problems if not completely wiped out? It's not something...
  8. From what I've read they are a good place to start... Particularly if they come back sky high with antibodies. There are always going to be false positives and false negatives... If the antibody test comes back more than 3 times the normal level then there's little chance of it being a false indicator (I read that on this forum). Are you based in US? I...
  9. Hi safetydancepants (good name!!) I am in the same predicament as you! What have you decided? My blood work came up positive, I was very very ill, and decided to go gluten-free. I ended up waiting for 3 months for an endoscopy so I am glad I gave up the gluten. However. My consultant doc said there was no point doing the endo until I started eating...
  10. Ooops! Pressed wrong button! As I was saying! As far as I know, you will not get any indication that you have celiac from your 'normal' blood tests. You MUST have your antibody levels checked specifically. Get checked for celiac! Your blood work will however give a good indication of health. But I guess to see if you have any malabsorption issues (linked...
  11. Hi there I'm afraid I have no expertise about DH, I'm sure someone will post on this though. From all the reading I have done recently, I would certainly say that it's a good possibility... I had itchy bumps around my ears and jaw, mid back, elbows and backs of calfs. It was a mild itch, and once I scratched at it, it would 'scab' over and feel ok. It want...
  12. I wish I knew! I keep trying to remember when things first started... Bread has bothered me for a long time... I always felt tired after eating it but that was it? Is that a celiac symptom? Apart from that I would say my symptoms have come on really slowly. So slowly that I struggle to pinpoint it exactly. Apart from bread 'bothering' me, I guess I first...
  13. Hi there I spent the first gluten-free 2 weeks feeling great, then I experienced the same as you for about 6 weeks. I didn't know whether I was coming or going, happy for a few days, murderous or suicidal the next few days etc. at first I thought it was gluten detox but now I'm more inclined to think it was my hormones rebalancing as I also suddenly (for...
  14. Had terrible night sweats after going gluten-free... No night sweats for 3 weeks now fingers crossed. I've been gluten-free for 3 months... Have never had night sweats before being diagnosed even though I had other symptoms/problems, it was very alarming... Personally think it was some kind of detox...
  15. You guys are brilliant. You are all so on my planet! Nobody else gets it... Nobody else understands. That one normal day... Bliss! I had one last week, actually no, I had 2! (I thought I was doing well until they said my intestines are still damaged)... May your days of normality stretch into a lifetime!
  16. @confused123 I'm glad you said that, that's like me. Though I can still feel some pain without laughing (haven't done much laughing today as I'm feeling sad and grumpy) but I've been doing household chores, and the bending has hurt! Thank you...
  17. GottaSki! I like that! Fake it til you make it! That is just how I'm feeling.
  18. Thanks mushroom. Its just that I thought that I'd probably ignited my celiac 5 years with pregnancy ... And I suppose it's probable that it started way before. I'm disappointed I didn't listen to the little 'niggles' that I wrote off. I've never been one to complain or go to the doctors! (that's changed!). I will get my antibodies tested in the new year....
  19. Open Original Shared Link Just one of the files I came across when checking out celiac and lymphoma, I'll post any other links as and if I come across them again. Again, you guys are more 'up' on all of this, but maybe you can see why I thought about the link between celiac and cancer etc
  20. Thanks GottaSki. It's so disheartening to know there is damage in your body that you could have prevented. Even though I presented with lots of classic celiac symptoms at dx I just didn't truly believe that I was that damaged. Now from everything I've read it indicated that I have severe celiac disease. I know I shouldn't expect it to heal in 4 months but...
  21. Ps I do not even know what my antibodies were... Except that they were high. This country is difficult with regards to organising anything with doctors. My experience so far has been pretty useless.. Thank god for this forum.
  22. Thanks guys I have cut out dairy caffeine sugar. Eating mainly whole foods. Odd packet of crisps... Odd bit of dark choc (once a week) and have had some wine here and there. Eating whole natural food 95% of time. Lots of gi symptoms better but still have loose bowls. On vit d, iron, and complex b and probio's. I have no idea how long I have had celiac...
  23. Hi there Had endoscopy (1st one) having been gluten-free for 3-4 months (strictly). They found hiatus hernia, normal stomach and scalloping of duodenum. If I have been gluten free for 4 months does this mean I'm not healing? Very worried that this indicates refractory? Can't take much more, feel very down... Any help so very welcome. As unfortunately...
  24. So it seems that the longer we are gluten-free the worse a glutening attack could be?? At least so seems the general consensus? I'm now seriously wondering whether there is something that I haven't eliminated in my diet that is causing my ongoing 'loose bowel' problem. It's the only thing still bothering me. (dietician says I'm high on fibre) but maybe I...
  25. Oh I'm glad I'm not the only one! It's strange, I also think that I must have slipped up in these last weeks... I'm sure I'll find out sometime! The only thing I have not been able to resolve is my D. It hasnt gone away. At all. It's actually more of a loose bowel, there's no increase in frequency. I saw a dietician yesterday who said it could be because...
