  5. hi bartfull, thanks for answering. im just trying to sort out some other intolerences - nightshades . got a rash on face also which seems to flare up with peppers and potato,s seem to make my joint pains worse. struggling at moment coz potato is in all gluten free products. i did rely on the gluten-free pittas when i was desperate for bread. and ive never...
  6. hi everyone, i have had a rash on the palms of my hands for at least 15 years - doctors just threw steroid creams at it. so i googled rash on palms and this is what it came up with. small yellow blisters that dried up leaving the skin on top all thick and dry that eventually flaked off. for years now ive picked at it constantly, even tried filing it...

  10. ok ive had this symptom for a while now, even before the doc went with the celiac tests. id been keeping a food diary and one symptom was ,i kinda felt like my labia and around my clitoris was swelling up . sorry if thats too much information. its sooooo irritating and i just cant figure out whats happening. im sure its food related coz i dont feel it...
  11. hi there, just writing to say hi really, dont worry about not being diagnosed celiac, there are lots of us on here who have gone on the diet out of desperation . and had to work things out for ourselves. ask anything you like, people will always answer. only been on here since january myself . good luck in working out what works for you
  12. hi greebo, im also realising its not gonna be easy and if i have to become a cooking expert to make it a little bit easier then thats the way its got to be the excitement i was feeling over the baked bean recipe has erm gone lol
  13. to be honest i havent tried doing a proper gluten trial yet, im waiting til i get a few days off work - just in case. i have accidently glutened myself a few times, once with a tin of curried beans and the only symptoms were going icy cold and shivering ,feeling a bit spaced out, feeling really tired an having to go to bed early. im more of a night owl...
  14. hi cisco, and tired sean, both your symptoms are virtually the same as mine- not all "celiacs/gluten intolerants" have the same symptoms. mine were lethargy, anxiety ,depression, repetitive thoughts, joint pains and many more little niggly symptoms that seemed really trivial( absolutely NO stomach or gastro problems at all . i used to look at people...
  15. i realise this is a really old thread, but ive found it extremely helpfull- all my old joint pain was back this morning after feeling a bit achy. even the staggering around in the morning feelin like my feet are swollen on the soles and makin it hard to walk. ive just realised that the gluten free bread and pittas ive been eating all contain potato ...
  16. hi there, sorry your posts seems to have been missed by people, if you think celiac is your problem you have done the right thing by going back on gluten to try and get some results. and a lot of celiacs/ gluten intolerants do have a problem with dairy at least until your intestines start to heal. you may find you also start to react to other foods...
  17. hi there, i too dont suffer with all the gastro symptoms. mainly joint pain and anxiety/ depression. ive been gluten and dairy free for abt 6 weeks now. i felt fabulous for the first 2 weeks- pain gone, brain fog gone, dark mood/thoughts gone, acid reflux gone and rash on palms started to clear up. great!! but now i feel like im back to square one...
  18. hi there, there,s many on here that have not been diagnosed celiac. me included. lots of us have other underlying food intolerences that "appear" after gluten has been removed. you havent said - but im sure you,ve already done it - have you changed all your utensils and checked your pots and pans, replaced the toaster - they can all have trace amounts...

  22. hi i cant give you any medical advice coz not been here long myself. but it sounds like you have decided that the gluten free diet is for you. to have the relevant testing you would have to reintroduce gluten again and it sounds like you would have a hard time with this. you obviously have a problem with gluten and dairy but many people have other underlining...
  23. thanks very interesting, think i,ll email celiac uk and see what they have to say, so im assuming that they think the gluten contained in the barley malt is so low it shouldnt be a problem. im wondering if this book is gonna be of any use at all !!
  24. i posted this in the international forum ( for uk) but nobody,s answered, so can someone please let me know if barley malt extract is ok or not - i thought it wasnt. ive joined celiac uk( its not as good as this site) for the food directory that you get - thought it would give me a few more ideas of what to eat as it gives you a list of gluten free...
  25. im currently debating whether to do a gluten challenge- a bit worried though, i need a few days off together from work- just in case.
