Kaitie - Karen: The quiche was WONDERFUL tonight, I hope you both enjoyed it. Actually, it was from Bette Hagman's cook book. I just traded the swiss cheese for Harvati Cheese, better I feel. How would it work out for a site: " If you were invited out for a gluten free dinner, pot-luck dinner, what would you bring?" That could be a new post...

ARCHIVED Anyone Have A Double-decker?
Lisa replied to skbird's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Trust me, you will not remember. Please be sure that you take an active family member with you. You will remember the pat on the arm and the "it will be ok" from the GI dr. and that's about it. Who ever takes you, please tell them to take notes (husband, family member, or good friend). They will tell you about what they found during the proceedure... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Have A Double-decker?
Lisa replied to skbird's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Stephanie: I had one exam, then the other two weeks later. I don't understand what the motility issue is? I have had several friends (not celiac disease issues) have the double exam at the same time and they seem to feel OK with it. If there is blood in your stools, it is very important to have the Colonoscopy, as I am sure you know. Hermoroids... -
ARCHIVED Does Gluten Intolerant Mean Cd Will Kick In?
Lisa replied to Jeepster's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Until others that know more about your testing will kick in, I will tell you that ANY Cheating is damaging. If your truly have celiac disease, you must be totally gluten, wheat free...forever. I know that is probably not the answer that you want to here, but it is the "stripes on the tiger". Try to go gluten-free totally for one month and see if you... -
Laurie: I'm on the northeast coast. Edenton, NC. I love the Fresh Market in Hendersonville. We used to live in Landrum, SC for two years when my husband was flying out of Charlotte. My girls (12 years ago) used to ride horses in Tryon. It is a beautiful place. I am the one with Celiac and I can sympothize with parents who have children with celiac...

Have a question for anyone who is more familiar with certain ingrediences than me. I am making a quiche tonight for dinner. I have alot of Kraft "Natural Finely shredded chesse" in the fridge. I know that Kraft will not hide but,......what is Cellulose Powder and Calsium Sulfate (added to prevent caking, and Natamycin) Is this safe to use or should...

Hey you guys: I need some help getting over the personal pitty- party I am having with my self. I am going to the Dr. Friday and in great need for energy boosters. Any one have suggestions for that. I am still not taking in nuitrients the "normal" way. What can I talk to my Dr. about that. (Please read my previous posts on this forum and it...

Don't know anything about that.

Thanks for all your response. I am not sure that it makes me feel any better. It is a little bit, ok, alot depressing. I am fortunate not to have to work. I do the basics around the house...wash clothes, cook, clean and do some limited yard work and that is about it. I do a little bit at a time, sit down and then do some more. I know that my husband...

I too had a high white blood count. I think it was because of the inflamation in the small intestines due to fighting off the glutens...this was before I was diog. Lisa B.

ARCHIVED If You Could Eat Whatever You Wanted And
Lisa replied to rmmadden's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am kinda the strange one here. I have NEVER likes pasta, beer nor bread so going gluten free for me is not so bad (other than the weird ingred. you have to read at the grocery store) I guess my body was telling me something all along. I do crave a McD's Double Cheeseburger and Fried Chicken (which I have not tried with gluten-free Flour yet). Necco... -
ARCHIVED Belladonna
Lisa replied to Lisa's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Karen: Belladonna is generic for Donnatol. Prescribed for IBS, it is a small dose "dope" as we used to call it. It is a mussl.. relaxer and an antacid combined. -- designed to relax the muscles and help with the acid. A tiny bit of barbituate. I do sleep better and the dose in VERY small. Probable not good for me with celiac disease. But would... -
Thanks Kaitie for kicking in..... time will tell.

Does anyone out there take this...........I take once a night . Don't know whether it is gluten free, nor do I know whether it is good for me now, in the healing process. Any suggestions, any input.....would be helpful. Lisa B.

ARCHIVED Why A Colonoscopy?
Lisa replied to floridanative's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Have you had a full-panel blood test to check what diffencies you may have? I have gradually lost weight over many years until a period of high stress kicked in celiac disease full blown. You can be A-symptomatic for a long time, even by birth and sometimes it takes a significant issue in your life for celiac disease to rare it's ugly head. I too have...
