Hi all, I know a couple weeks ago there was a discussion on what to eat at Six Flags in Jackson NJ. Well, we came to the consensus that your best bet was to (a) bring your own food or ( leave the park and eat elsewhere. Does anyone know of anything around the park to eat? I'll be going down to Six Flags with my family for the day on Saturday (weather...

Carrie, Do you happen to know if all Norwegian Cruises have the gluten-free products onboard? My family is planning on booking a cruise for later in the summer, but I was just curious if their entire fleet of ships is as up on gluten-free as your ship was! A separate kitchen no less. That's exciting news. Did you ever eat off the buffet at meals, or...

Okay, so my friends decided that we're going into Philly this evening (probably around 5ish) for cheesesteaks and a visit to South Street. Besides Mr. Ritts's bakery (assuming we get there in time, I believe they close at 5 on Saturdays?), is there any other must-see for a celiac in this area? Obviously I'm not planning on eating the cheesesteaks.....!...

Hi all, Next week my gymnastics team is going to be in the Brockport/Rochester NY area for several days for the National Championships:-). I found the website of the Rochester area celiac support group (Open Original Shared Link) , and they have several places for shopping/dining out listed. My question is, I will be staying in the Rochester Airport...

I don't know if anyone is from this area or not, but I go to Ursinus College and have frequented the Collegeville Diner the past few weeks. Usually I keep it simple, asking only for an omelet (just veggie and cheese, I haven't tried to check about the sausage or bacon yet) and asking them to clean the grill before cooking my homefries. But Friday night...

ARCHIVED Bonefish Grill / G/f Bread Basket
gymnastjlf replied to killernj13's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Open Original Shared Link And I concur, their food is amazing... my mom just came out to visit me at college this weekend for my gymnastics meet and brought a cooler full of food for me. Talk about spoiling me:-). I'm not typically a person that likes chocolate, but lately I've been craving it-- the chocolate bundt cake is to die for. It's quite rich... -
ARCHIVED Ener-g Foods
gymnastjlf posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have a package of Ener-G pizza crusts (they come packed in 3s). I'm only one person, so 3 pizza crusts would last me a long time. Has anyone ever tried freezing them after they open the package? Or does anyone know how long they'll keep once the package is opened? Same goes for the bread/English muffins, etc. Thanks guys! -
ARCHIVED Diet
gymnastjlf replied to ladylibrarian's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I know a lot of people don't eat Quaker rice cakes because of CC issues, but I've been eating them without a problem (the plain ones at least). Looking at the ingredients for some of their flavored products, I think they should be gluten-free as well. Is this true? Apple Cinnamon Rice Cakes: WHOLE GRAIN BROWN RICE, SUGAR, FRUCTOSE, MALTODEXTRIN, NATURAL... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Breadbasket (order Online)
gymnastjlf replied to VegasCeliacBuckeye's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I haven't ordered the stuff online yet, but I have tried the following products (I live near the bakery): - Plain bagels-- closest thing I've found to a bagel. Toasts and eats like a real bagel. - Blondies-- can I say heaven? - Cinnamon Raisin bread-- my first gluten-free bread, I prefer it to other breads I have tried from other companies. - Muffins... -
ARCHIVED Hershey's Kisses?
gymnastjlf posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hello, I know that Hershey's will clearly label any wheat, barley, rye, or oats in the ingredients, but I received several of the Hershey's kisses filled with carmel as a gift, so I was not able to look at the ingredient list. I haven't been able to get to the store to check the ingredient list on the package, and these candies are just staring me in... -
I got a free sample of a Sequel Chocolate Flavor Whole food energy bar (www.myvega.com). It says gluten-free on the package, but one of the ingredients listed is WHEAT grass. The bar is made in Canada. How can something be gluten-free if it has wheat grass in it?

ARCHIVED Gluten-free Bakery
gymnastjlf replied to tammy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've been there and their products are very good. I'm away at college, and last time my mom came to visit, she brought me some bagels... it made my day! Their stuffing is also excellent, I think my family was jealous, because my "special" stuffing turned out better than the stuffing my mom made for everyone else at Christmas. They said in a few weeks... -
So my college is on break for the semester, but being a gymnast, my team is here on campus. Which means we're responsible for our own meals. Most of the time we just cook meals as a team. Easy enough; sometimes we eat something that is gluten-free (tacos was last night, yum!) and I just make sure we get the right ingredients (aka NOT Taco Bell brand taco...

ARCHIVED Walmart Brand Products
gymnastjlf posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hey everyone. I know that Walmart is in the process of starting to label their products gluten-free. I was thinking we could start getting a list going of what's gluten free and what's not. Granted, it's easy enough to check when you're in teh store (since it'll have that lovely word right on the package... GLUTEN-FREE!). But anyway, from my last... -
ARCHIVED Roasted Nuts
gymnastjlf replied to danikali's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I thought that Snickers was considered to be the "universal" gluten-free candy? I thought Ann Lee said that at the conference in September (at Columbia). I haven't had the bite/snack size Snickers up to this point, but if I were handed one, I would've eaten it without a second thought. Yikes! Also, with the dry roasted nuts... I'm looking at a package... -
ARCHIVED Trouble With Dairy
gymnastjlf posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hey, I've been gluten free for just over 4 months now. At first, I was okay with dairy. But towards the end of October or so, I started getting really gassy whenever I had dairy. So for the most part, I've tried to stay away from it. I can stand eating a little bit of cheese at a time, and I've usually been okay with a little bit of milk used in cooking... -
ARCHIVED Progresso Soups
gymnastjlf posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi all, I know that there are some Progresso soups that we can eat. I know in general, we're taught to question anything that says chicken (or vegetable, or beef) broth. But Progresso is one of the companies that will label wheat, barley, rye, or oats in no uncertain terms. So theoretically, of the chicken broth in a Progresso soup contained wheat,... -

ARCHIVED Detour Protein Bars?
gymnastjlf posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi all, Before being gluten-free, I used to eat the Detour protein bars occassionally. I'm a college student, and looking at my class schedule for next semester, Tuesdays are going to definately be a day where I'm eating on the go! According to Trader's Joe's list of gluten-free items, Detour (Caramel Peanut and Peanut Butter) bars are gluten-free! ... -
Hi all, Friday I'm going to the Westchester Broadway Dinner Theater (Elmsford NY). I called the other day and was able to get the menu for the evening, but I was unable to speak to a chef. The woman I spoke with said she would make a note in the book that I had an allergy to gluten (wheat, barley, rye, and oats), and that the chefs "might" look at the...

Hi all, In a few weeks my gymnastics team is going to see the Nutcracker ballet in Philly, and before hand we're eating at a little Italian restaurant called La Viola (215-735-8630). I was just wondering if anyone's had any experience with them. I'm going to call them hopefully tomorrow so we can work something out, but I was just curious if anyone knew...

Hey guys! I hope everyone had an enjoyable Turkey Day! Yesterday marked 3 months of gluten-free for me! My ttG numbers are way down (197 in August, now at 23 I believe), but I'm still having some GI problems (gas, bloating, etc.). My doctor prescriped digestive enzymes, Ultrase (manufactured by Open Original Shared Link. The pharmacist wasn't able...
