  1. Thank you for the explanation. We started on this road because my 6 year old had a stomach ache. A stomach ache that's lasted for over 6 months! Celiac was not on my radar either. We went gluten free as a household. My husband will eat any gluteny food he wants when he's at work....though I think he would benefit greatly if he went gluten free wholly...
  2. You've been given a lot of really good advice. Most of the people here have lived through symptoms like yours or worse and they are telling you what you need to do. But, like has been noted...we're not doctors....and none of the advice will help if you don't actually heed it. I don't think I said to not eat for weeks (though I haven't gone back to check...
  3. Oy. That is no fun. Is there a free clinic or something you could go to? Maybe the help of a doctor would help determine if it is something more pressing that needs attention now. For the record, if I were you and I was having these issues....here is what I would do: I would be drinking the ginger tea (making sure that it is in fact gluten free...
  4. I have nothing to share that points in any direction but find it interesting as my friend who passed away had mono when we were teenagers and ended up having Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis (and probably Celiac though she was never tested for it!) in her adult years. I find the connection interesting and wish they would pursue it further.
  5. I have a question..... If you had no visible symptoms....why were you tested for Celiac? From everything I've read and what I've gone through personally this isn't a random test that doctors just throw in to see if you have it. Were there other things that you were experiencing at the time that made the doctor question the possibility of you having...
  6. I would find another doctor. Where are you? With my insurance (and I know not everyone's is the same!) if I go on their website it gives me a list of doctors I can see. Simple matter then of picking up the phone and making an appointment. Now, it does take some time as a good portion of the doctors around here book out quite a ways.....but at least then...
  7. I think that this disease is incredibly difficult to truly diagnose. The fact that you can have negative blood work but a positive biopsy or positive blood work and a negative biopsy or have both negative blood work and negative biopsy and still have symptoms and feel better going gluten free is crazy to me. Nothing seems cut & dried. My son had positive...
  8. Hmmm...and now the pain is completely gone again. It hadn't moved or done anything really for the last 6 years, except occasionally get worse and now it's coming and going? What? There have been a couple times when I've had random pain so bad it messed with my vision but that is extremely rare and extremely random. It's weird. Definitely will put a call...
  9. Oh thank goodness you're back! I was beginning to panic a little. Phew! To tell you the truth, I wasn't entirely sure if it was an issue on your end or on mine! Glad it's all fixed now, whatever it was!
  10. Haha! RIght!
  11. Ok....I figured I'd find someone that had some information. I'm not getting nauseous or throwing up (thank goodness!!!) but I will put in a call to my doctor and see what she says. Thank you for your reply.
  12. I agree! My little guy is full of poo as well and the doctors were trying to tell me it was from him holding it. Ummm...no. He's probably the most regular person in the house (or at least, the only one I really pay attention to at this point) and has never had any issues with pooping causing him pain unless he was sick with something and had several days...
  13. Ok...a little history on myself. I'm 35. I have 3 kids (18,15 and 6). My 6 year old is the one who's led us down the road with Celiac. We've all been tested and it's come back negative. Now, my question stems from a pain I've had since I was pregnant with my 6 year old. Ever since I was pregnant with him, I've had this pain in my ribs. It's a bad, unpleasant...
  14. I have problems finding shoes here in the stores...I can just imagine how much more it would be to have to order them from out of the country! Oy! And here I've been thinking I'd need two jobs just for mine! Eventually they stop growing, right?!? It's weird seeing the size difference between him and his younger brother. Granted there's a 10 year difference...
  15. I don't know. My 6 year old went from being just fine to complaining of a stomach ache/pain every.single.day for several months. If I had suspected a gluten issue....we would have had relief sooner but I had no idea so had to go the longer route through the doctor. But he definitely went from fine to not fine in 2.2 seconds! I think the diagnosing is...
  16. Oh my goodness!!! Size 18 feet?!?! And here I thought my 15 year old's feet were big @ size 14/15!!!! Not quite as tall as your son though I suspect he still has some growing to do. My son has actually surprised me quite a bit with his willingness to eat gluten free with us (he tested negative as well but we're gluten-free as a household) and aside...
  17. We haven't tried the corn noodles yet and I probably won't. The rice noodles are working for us and made my son so very, very happy. I found I do have to put the timer on for the noodles as they take longer to cook but are definitely gummy if over cooked! We're in WI too....but no Trader Joe's by us....kinda jealous! Bob's Red Mill All Purpose flour...
  18. My husband uses this and I just had to go box with the wonderful people at CVS over it since they gave him the wrong prescription, again....so I thought I would give you the list of ingredients from the printout in the packet, even though I know you already know it's safe. .1% azelastine hydrochloride benzalkonium chloride (125mcg/mL) citric acid dibasic...
  19. Horrible. I hear you on the diagnosis thing. Especially when it comes to issues like ASD. My middle son was diagnosed with ADHD when he was in kindergarten and our insurance was never willing to test beyond that when he got older and I started suspecting other issues. They refused a multitude of tests because he hadn't suffered any head injuries. I hope...
  20. I didn't realize that sleep apnea was also a symptom of gluten allergies. So far as my husband goes, at least, his were all very physical very non-allergy related issues. They had to take cartilage from his ear to help rebuild his nose. Now, now it could be that and/or a weight issue as he has gained a good chunk of weight since that surgery and that hasn...
  21. I would definitely look into Paleo and the SCD diet (not entirely sure if that would help or not). And yeah...I'd make sure you're not reacting to something sprayed on your food as well. I would stay off all the grains (which is why I'm thinking Paleo...they could give you lots of ideas/recipes) for at least a year. No cheating to trying to add anything...
  22. Yes...you would probably need a referral from your regular doctor depending on how things work by you. But you would need to see a sleep specialist or an ENT (ear, nose, throat doctor). My husband's ENT just happened to also be his allergist so the doc had a pretty good grasp on what my husband was dealing with. He has some pretty nasty seasonal allergies...
  23. Oh my goodness! That is a lot to take in!!! Do you have homeopathic doctors in England? (That is where you are, right?) If you do...I would think about seeing one of them instead of a regular mainstream doctor. I've lost patience and faith in regular doctors and simply use them as a tool to help me with some of the harder things I need diagnosed or for...
  24. I would definitely suggest a sleep study. My husband has sleep apnea...that was scary and he had no idea. He's actually had multiple surgeries to fix a deviated septum, had his rather large tonsils out, they shocked his tongue because it was too loose...all sorts of stuff. Helped for a while until he put on more weight. He can't use the c-pap machine because...
  25. Well...now that you have raised the thread...are you feeling any better? Has there been any progress with your doctors and a diagnosis? I truly hope you are feeling better and some of your symptoms have eased at least!!
