ARCHIVED Shampoos, Conditioners, Gels
AmandaD posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If you guys could let me know what shampoos, conditioners and particularly hair product - like gels or mousse's you use that are safe - that'd be great. Thanks! -
Joe - I don't know if this is going to help - but what the heh...I'm the one who posted the original question on Enterolab. I'm a reporter and I'd say I'm rather skeptical of any lab where you don't actually meet the doctor who runs it (although I've heard that it is extraordinarily helpful for some people). I went to a g.i. doc (thought i had irritable...

I meant to say had tests done that were negative and then still feeling Celiac was the prob? I am also wondering if all of you who have used Enterolab - and you'll have to excuse me if some of you already posted about this - basically had Celiac tests done, but were still feeling that Celiac was the problem? Is that correct? <{POST_SNAPBACK}>...

Thank you all for your input. It is very much appreciated. I ask the question because through my Celiac support group I have a mentor who comes to my house. She mentioned that the group on a whole (I think I've got this right) knew of Fine, but were cautious with the information. I mentioned it to her because I had considered looking into some of the milk...

ARCHIVED Anyone Remember...
AmandaD replied to AmandaD's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Odd - my number was 10.5 and then a positive biopsy as well. Don't get it... I don't know about the antibodies ever going to zero but my doc did say they should go into a negative zone which was about 1 to 7... -
Thank you so much for this response - just trying to understand all the lingo and "enterolab" comes up frequently.

I have a questions for anyone who may have an opinion or is really knowledgeable on this topic. I hear a lot of people mentioning that they've been diagnosed by Enterolab and have had different panels run, etc. Is the Dr. that runs this lab kosher? I see that his name is Kenneth Fine but I also see that he goes by Kenny "Jude" and is a singer selling...

Hi - Anyone else here on this board remember (if they had the tissue transglutaminase test done to diagnose them) what their TTG number or level was? Just curious... -
ARCHIVED Ttg Numbers
AmandaD replied to AmandaD's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It's a weird thing, isn't it? When they did the biopsy, however, the damage was conclusive with the diagnosis of celiac sprue. Interesting that the number was so low, though...AmandaD -

hee...hee...i thought the same thing... -
While this message isn't meant to replace a good doctor's advice by any means - I think what you're talking about is sometimes called petechiae. I saw this happen on my skin once when I was pregnant. They did a complete blood count and my low platelets were potentially causing the problem. I've never heard it being related to Celiac disease - and from...

celiac3270 - I've heard you're in high school. You sound smarter than the damn doctors. You should consider going to medical school. -
ARCHIVED Ttg Numbers
AmandaD posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi there - I was just at the doctor's office for my followup since being diagnosed with the TTG test and endoscopy. My doctor mentioned that I "wasn't even that positive" on my bloodtest. She mentioned that the TTG test range was anywhere from 1 to 7 being negative or normal. I had a level of 10.5. (She was telling me that she just diagnosed an asymptomatic... -

ARCHIVED Gross Question About Poo!
AmandaD posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
All right. Nasty question. I was at my celiac support group meeting this weekend and the registered dietitian there discussed getting more fiber in the Celiac diet. She made a comment that bowel movements that sink don't have enough fiber in them and aren't good. We should have bowel movements that float. Is this true for the celiac? I read somewhere... -
ARCHIVED Advice Please :-)
AmandaD replied to redheadednut's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I would agree with Kaiti and make sure you had the TTG test done...do you know if celiac sprue runs in your family? Another option would be to have the HLA gene test actually done - you could ask your g.i. about this - for instance, we may do this for all three of our kids because then we'll really know whether or not they will develop sprue and whether or... -
Red blood in stool can happen, from what I understand, with hemorrhoids or with good old diarrhea when you get irritated from food. However, I don't think blood in stool is very common for Celiac disease, if I'm correct. Before I was diagnosed with celiac disease I had to go through some testing for ulcerative colitis and Crohn's...not fun, but it's really...

Lorka - I'm curious...have you been diagnosed Celiac through blood test or biopsy?

Viola - Which kind do you drink. Years ago I used to like Red Rose - or just good old black tea with sugar and milk. (Enough to nicely stain my teeth a slight tan ) Amanda -
Hi - I was wondering if some of you could tell me how many months or years you've been formally diagnosed with Celiac? Just curious! Amanda

ARCHIVED To Add To My List Of Problems...
AmandaD replied to bellybattle's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
BB - A white spot on your tonsil may be strep - or it may just be some past inflammation of your sore throat. If I were you I'd just get on the horn with the doctor and explain some of your symptoms - don't self-diagnose...let them help you and reassure you that you're fine. As for the tightness in your chest and fluttery feeling...that sounds a bit... -
ARCHIVED Going Gf Before Biopsy
AmandaD replied to Nantzie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
KaitiUSA - I'm wondering about what you've said about blood tests being accurate if you get "a complete panel"...some of the latest information I've been told by my gastro doctor is that the newest TTG test is almost always all that's needed to detect Celiac...she explained that it's now been developed to be so highly specific that the other tests are evenutally...
