  7. I'm going to start drinking coffee again - it's been a few years (I've been nursing a baby). Do I have to be careful about gluten in coffee? Could anyone recommend a good coffee bean - I have my own grinder (I actually have to go out and buy a pot it's been so long). Also - are you able to tolerate coffee okay with your "celiac stomach"? Thanks...

  10. Monica - Initially I felt a little nauseated - however I had also just found out I had celiac so I'm not sure which it was. I did notice that it caused soft stools for about the first week or so as I was getting used to it. That got better. I really feel that you need to give it time to work...I remember even the first 6 weeks of using it I felt more anxious...
  11. key - i had some anxiety issues going on just prior to be diagnosed by biopsy with celiac. lexapro has helped considerably - it's used for many different kinds of conditions - not just anxiety. it is also a gluten free medication - both my doctor and pharmacist talked to the company for me. do not just quit this medication. it takes close to 6 weeks to...
  12. Does anyone know if Lifeway Kefir and the different flavors are gluten free?
  13. I actually just called about this recently and was told that only juices that say 100 percent on them are truly gluten-free - they wouldn't guarantee any other kinds.
  14. I had a + TTG also - had the biopsy and it took two full days before we knew the pathology results.
  15. Open Original Shared Link I found this on-line and I thought this was the most comprehensive explanation by a doctor about what celiac is, how to test for it, how to treat it and how to check up on it. I thought new people might really like this or people who aren't sure if their problem is actually celiac...
  16. I'm from Madison and my girlfriend who works at a health co-op in Milwaukee bought some for me on Monday...it's brewed from Sorghum from what I understand and it's absolutely terrific...
  17. Thanks for all of your suggestions - I'm going to check and see if Oscal is gluten-free. RACHEL- it's absurd that your doctor does not check for vitamin deficiencies - that practice should totally be ashamed of themselves!!!! HMO's, I've heard, can really be crappy!!!
  18. Hi there - got my blood test results back and found out I have a very mild Vitamin D deficiency; also had my bone scan and had a normal reading. I'm wondering how you all get your extra vitamin D -- I'm not a big milk drinker. My doc wrote on my report that I should take 2 400IU tablets of D a day...any recommendation on a brand..? And, did any of you...
  19. Anyone here have a follow up biopsy? How long from the time you were diagnosed and were you healed? I'm wondering if it's something I should ask for ...etc...? Thanks again for your help. Amanda
  20. Would you mind sharing your gluten-free stuffing recipe? I would love to use it...
  21. That's funny you discuss this. After I was diagnosed by biopsy a few weeks back with Celiac - my childhood pediatrician (friend of my family's) called me and said something similar - that they're linking lymphoma is less and less connected with actual Celiac - in fact, the scientists aren't a hundred percent sure if it's just that they see more intestinal...
  22. Many thanks. You guys are great.
  23. Does anyone here use Head and Shoulders shampoo and is it gluten free? It's winter and my head's itchy again and I want something that will make it stop (my dermatologist said I have seborrheic dermatitis, I don't think it's actually DH). Thanks as always. AD
  24. Does any diagnosed Celiac out there in the message board also have "irritable bowel syndrome" that sort of goes along with the celiac? ...?? Wondering...
  25. There's a great powdered vanilla you can buy online from gluten solutions - it works even better than liquid in all my cookie recipes. It's basically just called vanilla powder
