ARCHIVED Symptoms From Gluten Free Baking Mix?
answerseeker posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I made chocolate chip cookies last night using Betty Crocker gluten free mix. I know I shouldn't have tried to eat them so soon but I made them for my kids and I ate 2. Within 20 min I had all my symptoms back: gurgling belly, heartburn, foot cramps, headache, and bloating. I also experienced a new symptom, I got incredibly thirsty and my mouth felt so... -

ARCHIVED Seriously, That Doesn't Make Sense
answerseeker replied to Renegade's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My thyroid level is 2.42 and I have all hypo symptoms except I lose weight instead of gain. I think I need to get a 2nd opinion on mine. Kaiser won't recognize or treat in that so called normal range. -

I agree with the above too. 1 month gluten free for me and my pain is gone, still having digestive issues as others have said but no more pain and I'm healing. I think if your not improving on the diet you might want to go back to your dr. As far as how I lived with it so long.....I literally thought it was the norm. I contributed it to not enough fiber... -
today marks 1 month for me! yesterday I had my asthma check up and to my astonishment my heart rate was only 75 (it has never been below 100) and my lungs were almost clear! I go back in 6 months again and my allergist will reduce my Advair dosage and eventually take me off of it! That makes me so happy because this asthma has been very hard to manage due...

ARCHIVED Anyone Suffered Or Suffer From Asthma/shortness Of Breathe?
answerseeker replied to Renegade's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think the fact that I've been on oral steroids 3 times in a year is probably why I was able to cope. I wonder how sick I would have been if it werent for that little extra help! -
ARCHIVED Negative Test Result, Still Think I Have It, Do I Need More Testing?

Is the enterlab gene test legitimate? I have Kaiser and the don't do the gene test -
ARCHIVED Negative Test Result, Still Think I Have It, Do I Need More Testing?
answerseeker replied to sliebman's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had negative results but my GI diagnosed me based on the positive response to eliminating gluten. My stomach would gurgle daily and I haven't had pain or gurgling since. He saw my weight loss, bloodwork showed some malnutrition, I already have another inflammatory/autoimmune disease (asthma) and GERD so he "clinically" diagnosed me. I don't want to eat... -

Thanks I will read that next. I'm reading Celiac the hidden epidemic right now which I'm going oh wow that's from celiac! But again the over 300 symptom thing can be so much. The drs think your crazy or hypochondriac for mentioning all the seemingly unrelated symptoms I told my primary dr about the weakness in my arms and legs and I had a hard time getting... -

that is weird! at least you don't have to spend the $30 every month to refill it. I have an asthma app on Thursday so we wil see how well it's doing. I also have several atopic allergies pollen, dust, mold, etc. and they trigger my asthma. Are these shown to improve with eliminating gluten? -

do you have GERD too? I have GERD in addition to everything else which complicates it. Can't wait to start feeling healthy again! -

I sure hope so because it's been a thorn in my side! 2 hospitalizations in 1 yr and on prednisone 3 times has taken a toll on my body. I've read that asthma improves on gluten free diet it just hasn't been long enough for me yet -
ARCHIVED Anyone Suffered Or Suffer From Asthma/shortness Of Breathe?
answerseeker replied to Renegade's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
agreed. this is why a PFT is best for diagnosis. they test before the albuterol and then you take 2 puffs of albuteral, wait 15min, and then they test again. Asthma will improve on the PFT after the albuteral but GERD or something else will not. It will also show obstructive patterns in the lungs (asthma), GERD wouldn't show an obstructive pattern. The best... -

hopefully they will give you the PFT. Mine went undiagnosed for 2 years and the docs kept diagnosing upper respiratory infections. After 4 rounds of anitbiotics I was finally referred to a pulmonary specialist and by that time my lung volume was hyperinflated from the air trapped in them that my diaphram is now flattened. After 1 year on Advair it's starting... -

My GI doc just keeps telling me everything will get back up by following a gluten free diet so I suppose if I'm deficient in vitamin K it's the same treatment. I am meeting with a RD (dr referred) tomorrow so I'm sure she will get me on a good eating plan to get my levels up. That would be the treatment for it correct? Has yours gone back up now? -

I have asthma, severe and persistent, diagnosed by a PFT(lung function test). Have you had one of those done? I have to take Advair everyday 2/day or I will have an attack. Still I've been hospitalized twice in the last year and a half Asthma and SOB are 2 different things. As others have mention you can get SOB from GERD or anxiety or anemia or other... -

no off and on. my dr. visit for followup after the hospital stay it was at a normal 85 then this last appointment last week it was 109. In the hospital it was anywhere from 125-130 but I was on a lot of breathing treatments. it also has an irregular pattern. they took like 3 EKG's in the hospital because the pattern was all over the place. I'v had... -

Ok here are the thyroid results. Looks normal to me TSH 2.42 t3 total 106 Free T4 1.2 TpoAB <10 IrishHeart did you have a fast heart rate from celiac? Is it caused by malabsorption? My dr said it could be from anemia but my iron level was 80. Ferritin was at 22 but its gone up now to 34 in the last 3 weeks -
ARCHIVED Ferritin Level Up A Little!
answerseeker replied to answerseeker's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I still get the tingling thing in my fingers. But my hair is less grey which is really weird. I've read here and other places that greying of hair is a symptom of low iron. It hasn't been long enough to feel a lot of improvement yet but I'm glad to see the number go up -

Yes it was heavy. My husband made sure I ate red meat and drank red wine and took extra iron so that probably helped. I was in the hospital in June for a severe asthma attack and the meds they had me on may have messed my cycle up -

I'm waiting for bloodwork to come back because I do have 3 bruises that came from nowhere. One really ugly one on my arm and I have no idea how it got there! That alerted my ob/gyn and she ordered some tests. When I had my son he was born with very low platelet counts so I'm curious to see the outcome. My ferritin was low before going gluten free and... -
