ARCHIVED Gluten Intolerant But Not Celiac
answerseeker replied to laura1959's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I wonder if there is some sort of pre celiac spectrum. Like pre-diabetic? If you have osteoporosis isn't that a pretty strong indicator? Perhaps early stages of the disease but no damage yet? Makes me wonder! Anyway there are many on here who are NCGI the symptoms are the same just no malabsorption or damage like with celiac. -
ARCHIVED Slow Metabolism? Glutening Symptoms Take Their Time...
answerseeker replied to clafran's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Same with me. I get so drowsy I can't keep my eyes open. The pain is mild the first day but it seems to really hit me the next day. Then a day or two later I get a rash on my stomach. Yep good times :-/ -
Lol so funny I did that the other day! I held my breath took a plastic bag and put it over the flour then threw it all out! Washed the canisters in hot hot water then ran them through the dishwasher (they are ceramic) I haven't refilled them yet with gluten-free flour though because I think it's better to keep gluten-free flour in the freezer? Can I keep...

ARCHIVED Prednisone?
answerseeker replied to emilykay405's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
werseeker, I'm glad you were able to eventually get diagnosed. Aside from you citing a book, I have found no information supporting "prednisone interferes with celiac testing" . I also do not doubt that this very thing happened with you. Maybe someone else will find something. Good luck in continued healing. Colleen -
ARCHIVED Prednisone?
answerseeker replied to emilykay405's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes it intereferes but I was on very large doses because I was in the hospital for asthma. I had prednisone in my iv and by mouth. the book "real life with celiac disease" written by 2 gi drs say that it will interfere with testing. Both blood and biopsy. My bloodwork and biopsy were negative 3 weeks after stopping prednisone only to be diagnosed with... -
ARCHIVED Getting Desperate
answerseeker replied to Eclara's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Have they checked for parasite or bacterial? Usually parasite will cause problems with everything you eat. It doesn't seem like gluten challenge can cause intolerance to food in general. If you can't even eat chicken or lean meats or rice then I would say this is something else. I was diagnosed with GERD a year ago and when the GERD was at its worse I... -
Did it come on after your gluten sensitivity? I used to eat yogurt everyday with lunch and used to tolerate milk and ice cream just fine. Then about a month after my diagnosis I couldn't tolerate lactose at all. I've switched to lactose free milk in my rice chex and coffee and eat lactose free yogurt and I'm fine. Like scarlet said the vili is what breaks...

ARCHIVED Son Sick After Mac N Cheese
answerseeker replied to answerseeker's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
No it was regular. He tested negative so there is no reason for him to eat gluten free. Just wondering if I need to have him retested -
ARCHIVED Son Sick After Mac N Cheese
answerseeker posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
last night I gave my 8 yr old son mac n cheese for dinner. He got really tired later in the evening and fell asleep on the floor. this is not like him. this morning he had diarrhea all morning long, it was bad he couldn't even make it to the bathroom, and was complaining that his stomach hurt. he also had a low body temp at 96. now he is back to normal so... -
ARCHIVED Home Tests
answerseeker replied to dizzydo's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
when my celiac came on I had bouts of dizziness. I felt like the room was spinning type of dizzy. I would have to hold onto the stair railing so I wouldn't fall. It was the weirdest scariest feeling. But even if you don't have a gluten issue, dizziness should really be checked out. Dizziness could be a symptom of diabites and so can the tingling, actually... -
ARCHIVED Heartbeat
answerseeker replied to dizzydo's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
my heart rate has been high (over 107) for the last 2 years. It could be due to anemia. I also have asthma so it could be due to that as well. I've had EKG's and cardio bloodwork but my heart itself is fine. are you anemic? -
ARCHIVED Ttg Iga Not Reliable For Kids?
answerseeker replied to answerseeker's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms

ARCHIVED Gluten Free, Lactose Free, Soy Free Shake For Weight Gain?
answerseeker posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My dr has me drinking 2-3 Ensure shakes per day to gain weight and nutrients, however I think the soy is getting to me. I feel a little sick to my stomach by the evening Ensure plus has been the best in terms of covering all the bases except for the soy! I'm assuming its soy because I don't do well with gluten-free processed foods but tolerate the soy... -
ARCHIVED Ttg Iga Not Reliable For Kids?
answerseeker posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have Kaiser and they only use this tests. My 8 yr old was tested with this and it was negative but I've read that it's not completely reliable? At what age does it become more reliable test? I have a 13 yr old and she still needs to be tested. They are both pretty gluten light as the meals I cook are gluten free but they still get their gluten filled... -

ARCHIVED Diagnosis Final Now
answerseeker replied to answerseeker's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks! Yes I'm a fighter. 2 years of being ill and no answers. My asthma took a year to get diagnosed with my old (note not my doc anymore lol) gp just kept giving me antibiotics because he said I had upper respiratory infection. Finally after 4 rounds he referred me to a pulmonary specialist duh My b12 was 482. The lab only lists the range as over... -

ARCHIVED What Does Reputation Mean?
answerseeker replied to answerseeker's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help

I'm pretty new and just saw I had 4 neutral "points" what does this mean? Why do some of my posts have a green 1 by them? Just wondering

ARCHIVED Diagnosis Final Now
answerseeker replied to answerseeker's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I know Irish, and you in particular have been so kind and helpful. I have been in a bit of denial and thinking oh it's just a coinincidence. But now having an official diagnosis I will tighten up the belt. My family is on board with being a gluten free home, my kids can get their snacks still as I don't have to handle those. thanks for all the support... -
I went back to the GI today. My GI dr is great and really knows his stuff because his daughter in law has celiac! I had the rash on my belly I posted about the other day. Doc took one look and he said you have celiac disease. For those who don't know I was on prednisone during testing and endoscopy so tests were negative but my GI dr still thought I had...

ARCHIVED How On Earth Can I Gain Some Weight?
answerseeker replied to no7ang's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
me too! I'm so tired of people saying your so skinny, your tiny etc etc. I'm sure people who don't know me think I'm anorexic. I lost 4 pounds after being in the hospital 3 months ago and still can't gain it back. 4 pounds on a 109 5' 4" figure is very noticable. 109 is my highest I've ever been and I'd be happy just getting back to that! I wonder if...
