Claire - do you mind elaborating on what CoQ10 is and where I can get it? My pcp wants to put me on folic acid rx due to family heart disease history and I'm already taking iron and B-complex. I want to ask the her if it's okay to add the enzyme too. I've got to get more energy or I don't think I'll make it through the holidays with much enthusiasm. Thanks...

ARCHIVED Oprah - Let's Get Cd On Her Show

Everyone is coming up with such great ideas! I think any and all publicity is good for us. I love John Sossel's style so I'm going to e-mail him too. Can't you just hear him now - it takes on average 11 years to get diagnosed with Celiac Disease in the Us - give me a break!.... Excellent! -

ARCHIVED Endomysial Test (ema)
floridanative replied to Claire's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I supposedly had a Celiac panel blood test done today and they only took one vial of blood. Anyone know if that's all it takes? I was so taken off guard when the hemotologist told me that based on my symptoms he really doesn't think I had celiac disease and by the way, my pcp promised all the paperwork was sent over and (oops!) they didn't send over many... -

Sorry I don't have any answers for you. I am just glad to see where you say that the tTg test is the most conclusive test if only one is done. My doctor's asst. won't even tell me WHAT blood test he did and they denied doing a full panel Celiac test before scheduling a biopsy. So when I see the hemotologist tomorrow I hope to find out what test was actually... -

I agree with Gina's points. I think gluten sensitivity and celiac disease could make an entire show, but then again I'm not a tv producer. And Gina - yes I've seen many posts from people (on other threads) that think every human should stay away from wheat. Surely you've seen them too. I whole heartily believe that if any producer thinks there's even... -

Open Original Shared Link Above is Oprah's weblink (thanks to Gina for posting). This is our first official week to e-mail Oprah about celiac disease. If your last name begins with an 'A', then it's your turn to e-mail you story to Oprah's producers. Many of you were excited about this idea and didn't want to wait for your week and I applaud your enthusiasm... -
ARCHIVED As Promised, A Few Recipes

Oh my! I'm not really into cooking (yet) so I found a pie crust mix at Whole Foods I'm going to try for my pecan pies. But I will get the soy and millet flours and experiment with my pumpkin bread. So I think that means 1/5 of the flour will be soy and the remianing 4/5 of the flour can be millet. Should be interesting to see how it turns out. Thanks! -

Just check this topic on Mondays or count out your week - by starting this coming Monday for A - If you last name is Adams it will be your week. Then next week the B's and so forth. But I'm going to put in the reminder every week and list the proper letter. If I go out of town I'll ask for a helper but that's only a few weeks of the year. So it will take... -

I understand how cross contamination can be a real problem and how what you wash your hands with is important. But what do you do out in public when you wash your hands? I have to go to clients' offices all over town as I'm in sales. This week I used the rest room in three office buildings and of course used their soap - not all gluten-free I'm sure. Do... -

Okay - then this is what I'm going to do. Starting Monday (and each Monday after), I'm going to post on this thread to remind everyone that is it their week to e-mail Oprah. They just need to e-mail her that week, not a specific day - that's easy enough. I'm going to ask all those with last name begins with A, then next week B and so forth. I will post also... -
I thought about how to best get the word out about celiac disease and the obvious answer was to get Oprah to do a show about it. I started with 'I'm thinking you probably already did a show about this horrible condition that is so underdiagnosed in the US and I'd like to purchase a copy of the show so please tell me how to do so. Then I went on to explain...

Okay - this whole thing is getting old and I'm still in the testing stage. Those of you out there that have been looking for anwers for so long, well my hat is off to you! I'm sick only a year (only with anemia) and I'm so frustrated I could scream! My endosopy is scheduled for 12-5. I call the doc to say I want a biopsy done during the procedure and the...

ARCHIVED How Do You Know When Glutenend?
floridanative posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I'm looking for people to respond to this who did NOT have gastro symptoms prior to being diagnosed. Others are welcome but I need help from someone in my situation if they're out there. I have unexplained anemia - that's what led to my testing for celiac disease. My question is - what happened to you when you went gluten-free? If I can eat gluten now without... -

What if you feel fine eating gluten and then go on the diet - do you know that you've been glutened? I'm anemic and I'm having a biopsy next month due to the fact of some anti-body being too high in my blood work. Anyway, I do have to take iron to have any energy but other than that, I feel pretty good no matter what I eat. I have a symptom that is related...

ARCHIVED Bread Search
floridanative replied to Nicolette's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Breads by Anna (www.glutenevolution.com) are very good from what I hear but you need to buy the mix and make them - in bread machine or food processor). I tasted a lot of breads from Whole Foods and none of them were good. Raisin was best but their reg. bread was like cardboard. I'm so glad I got to try if free at a gluten-free seminar so I knew not to waste... -
[i asked what tests the doctor orderd and she said a Celiac Panel ( not sure what that all includes???) But am hoping it will provide some much needed answers for me and then for my daughter. Thanks again for listening <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
