Well actually since my biopsy isn't until Jan. I eat whatever I want right now. I fully suspect I'll have to go on the gluten-free diet regardless of biopsy results due to elevated tTg test that is 99% specific to gluten intolerance. The diet would be the tie breaker if the biopsy comes up clean. Anyway, luckily I don't have much of a sweet tooth and would...

What about using natural honey? I have a friend who we call a 'health nut' who only uses honey to sweeten his coffee/tea. I gave up white sugar at home years ago but still used sugar in the raw. In the last six months I switched to honey for my hot tea/coffee. It was hard to get used to it in coffee but it tastes fine to me now. Does honey do the same thing...

ARCHIVED Saw New Doctor Yesterday
floridanative replied to lizzy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Debbie makes a good point that the diet is working for you. Also, I totally forgot I had more than one doc prescribe meds for me with codiene (or derivitive thereof) in it. I'm highly allergic to codiene. Most times my pharmacy catches the mistkae but once they didn't. I took a narcotic cough syrup that had it and I got to experience what it must be like... -
ARCHIVED Saw New Doctor Yesterday
floridanative replied to lizzy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I can't help in regards to having had seizures before but I would NOT take the drug before talking to the Dr. even if you have to go back. If you can't do that, call the pharmacist and see if they know of another drug that would be safer (I have found pharmacists more helpful and available than doctors) for you. Then call your doctor back and ask them to... -
ARCHIVED Please Help
floridanative replied to danikali's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Danielle - I'm so sorry to hear all you're going through. But in my opinion many docs just don't know much about celiac disease or gluten intolerance. See if there's a way to find a GI in your area which is highly trained to spot celiac disease. But you mentioned that you responded to the diet positively so that may be your answer. Maybe you're allergic to... -
ARCHIVED Looking Over My Blodd Test Results...
floridanative replied to VydorScope's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Gosh Vydorscope! I don't even know what the Bilirubin is. I checked my test results page and my doc didn't order that or the EMA. I'm so mad, now I have to wait to see a new doc the end of Dec. I hope someone can help you. My last doc said even though my tTg shows weak positive 99% to gluten sensitive enteropothy, my test were inconclusive but he's sure I... -
What the heck do they do that for????!!! I know they give perks for docs to push certain meds but who wins by doing the proper tests for us? Gosh this whole thing is exasperating!

ARCHIVED Can You Be Gluten Intolerant And Not Cd
floridanative replied to GUSSLER9's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
celiac3270 - what do you think gluten sensitive enteropathy means? My Celiac panel test results was flagged only for the tTg, saying this antibody level is 99% specific to GSE. When I asked the doctor (on the phone) what that meant all he could say was that he doesn't think I have celiac disease and that my results are inconclusive. -

ARCHIVED Food Rant....
floridanative replied to CMCM's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Whole Foods products which are labeled gluten free are made in a dedicated gluten-free facility a few miles from their reg. bakery. A few years ago their head baker got dx'd with celiac disease, and hence his quest for gluten-free bakery items began. They did start in the reg. bakery in the beginning, baking only one day per week, cleaning the lines before... -
ARCHIVED Found Two Safe Restaurants Today!
floridanative replied to Ursa Major's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Thanks for sharing your experiences Ursula. I'm sorry about the first place. I don't think people really think about what they are doing half the time. Why would someone give you breaded chicken after you explain you can't have bread??!!! They don't do it on purpose but that doesn't make it okay. Glad your second meal was such a nice and safe meal. I... -

ARCHIVED Does Anyone Know

Nantzie - I'm happy to report that the fax idea worked for me. I sent one fax at 10 a.m. yesterday and the Dr. called me at 4 p.m. He said that my test Celiac blood test results were 'inconclusive' but that in his opinion he doesn't think I have celiac disease. He said also that he'd prove it with the biopsy. Little does he know that I'm having the biopsy... -
I don't know if this works if your sweats are caused by mold but I'll share anyway. Recently I went off the pill and oh boy - was that a nightmare! My gyno didn't warn me about the mood swings or anything. I've never had kids but now I find that many women suffer from something akin to mild post pardum depression after stopping b/c pills (after being on them...

ARCHIVED Hand & Foot Numbness/tingling
floridanative replied to CMCM's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well the symptoms just keep on coming. For probably a year I have had some mornings when I'll get up and I can't make a fist with my hands. This only happens for a very short period and then it's fine. But lately, sometimes when I get up early in the morning, my feet feel really odd, like walking on stumps as posted above. I just thought again, it was just... -
ARCHIVED Antigliadin Iga (if Iga Deficient)
floridanative replied to jajus100's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Sorry I can't help and I'm sitting here in the same boat with you figuring out what my blood test results mean. Only my tTg is high (weak positive) and the EMA wasn't done even though I was told it was being done too. All the other tests were negative which I hope is good. But all the other tests results don't even have a number - just says negative. The... -
This is just my own rant about the doc who supposedly ordered a full Celaic panel blood test for me. He did seem to order everything EXCEPT the EMA test which he just finally called today after I left a message Friday asking why the EMA wasn't done and by the way could someone call to discuss the results maybe?!! He said no he didn't order that test (I...

Sorry this note is late. Today is week C for those of you interested in participating in the Oprah e-mail compaign. If your last name begins with a C, please e-mail Oprah this week. I think CNN would also be a good avenue for us to try per the post above. Any publicity is good plublicity in my view. Good luck and happy turkey day to everyone! -
ARCHIVED Found Two Safe Restaurants Today!
floridanative replied to Ursa Major's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Oh ursula - that is such great news! Please post about your experiences. I'm hoping they'll both be good ones which will give hope to people like me. Eating out is a big part of my life and my husband and I travel a lot. I just don't think I can give that all up. I'll just have to take my own food when possible and plan ahead to eat at 'safe' places - menu... -

Excellent idea about the faxes. I did call the dr. as soon as the fax came over with the results. No one called me back. I'm going to fax them tomorrow morning and be very nice, explaining that I need someone to call and dicuss the results with me and by the way, why didn't they do the EMA test - or did they just forget to fax that part? I not having the... -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Know
floridanative replied to floridanative's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well Katie actually the doctor told me he was ording a full Celiac panel including the EMA so I have no idea why it isn't on my results page. If no one calls me to discuss in the next week, I'm going to get the biopsy done elsewhere. This is ridiculous!!!! And thanks for your post! -

ARCHIVED Does Anyone Know
floridanative posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I posted my Celiac panel results on Random Guys topic with his results. I was just wondering if anyone knows what else would cause a tTg level to show positive besides celiac disease? I know I read someone on this forum that that test is 92% accurate for celiac disease buy my test has an asterisk under it saying this test is 99% specific to gluten sensitive... -
ARCHIVED My First Celaic Panel Lab Results
floridanative replied to Random Guy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Sorry to tag on but I don't want to start a new post over this. My results were just faxed over (Celaic panel) and the doctor didn't call, his nurse fill in just faxed them over and said it looks like everything is negative. I don't think she knows what she's looking at. Antigliadin Abs, IgA - negative (no number given) Antigliadin Abs, IgG - negative...
