  1. I was going to post on Facebook my frustration, just for support, but remembered I'm the only celiac I know! I find it so frustrating that I watch every morsel of food that goes in my mouth. Then sit for a "gluten-free" meal in a restaurant and get to be sick for a week! I hate that one half of a meal gets to dictate how I feel for the rest of the week! I...
  2. Thanks for the humor and support!! My husband especially enjoyed the celiac gang signs, lol. So now he's calling me a gluten gangster....now on to the rest of life!!
  3. Just wanting to celebrate!! My dr finally gave me a celiac diagnosis!! Not that I'm happy about it, I'm happy about being validated. 10 years and thousands of dollars later...I have celiac. My friends don't get the impact of that statement, but I knew y'all would : )
  4. Cyclinglady-I'm definitely going find the gluten-free version and test out my baking skills! Are you from Louisiana, since you know the heavenly treat? Or do we not have the monopoly on King cakes here, lol Nvsmom-I've had all of the tests you've mentioned except for the AGA IgG. Thanks for all of the information! I'll peruse the genetic tests, then give...
  5. Thank you Gottaski and Nvsmom for the kind words. I haven't had gene testing, I guess I'll see if my PCP will order it. My last gastro made it clear that he could "do nothing more for you other than refer you to the mayo clinic.." So, I'm not wanting to even show my face there again! Nvsmom-a king cake is a glorious sweet, cinnamon cake baked in a ring...
  6. I've never been given a diagnosis of celiac. My Dxs are: Ibs-c, GERD, bile reflux, gallbladder disease (removed in 2009), endometriosis (lap in 2012), anxiety, IgA deficient, lactose sensitive. My hair is falling out, teeth are losing enamel in the front and are super sensitive. My blood work all came out negative, more were ordered after seeing IgA deficiency...
  7. One of my favorites: while at a family gathering, my uncle says, "Don't you have that disease that's all over the Internet where you can't eat anything?" Me: I guess so : / him: " good, this cake was made with white flour, not wheat! Enjoy!" Me:
  8. I don't believe the tests were a mistake. His symptoms are very much like celiac, some never experience GI problems. I'd have to say that fatigue is probably the most prevalent and severe (in my opinion) symptom to deal with. It may take months or years for his body to heal. Please stay diligent in keeping him gluten-free, he will heal! As a mother, I'd probably...
  9. I agree with more natural foods. I'm 3 months gluten-free and feel my best when eating really clean. Processed food in excess always make me sick, gluten-free or not. Spend a good week of eating clean, then maybe add a processed carb once you're feeling better. You may find some gluten-free brands don't always agree with you. Hope you feel better soon!
  10. Yes, I'm completely (to my knowledge) gluten-free. I'm doing well, but am trying to pinpoint another intolerance. Maybe dairy and not just lactose? Anyhow, I'll NEVER try my reaction again with gluten. I'm still recovering from that and it's a week later
  11. All of my blood tests have come back as normal. I recently tried gluten to see if I'd get sick, I guess to complete the diagnosis. I am having the worst week I've had in a while. Cramps, gas, nausea, confusion, and fatigue have been nonstop. Lesson learned!!
  12. I believe I do have celiac, (dr. never gave me concrete dx, just said biopsy suggested celiac). I wanted to see if I really did, and what would a reaction feel like. It's 5 days later and I'm still in major pain I'm also finding that I'm dairy intolerant, which is furthering my misery. Just trying to learn my new lifestyle. Thanks for all the great advice...
  13. Thanks for the responses. Hopefully this will go away soon. This has been by far the worst reaction I've had. Probably a big dose of gluten. Lesson learned, I'll NEVER test the waters again! Gluten has taken enough days of my life!!
  14. I knowingly ate gluten to "test" my symptoms after being gluten-free for 3 months. I started having gastro symptoms after 2 days. Then on the third day, I can't stay awake, have a horrible headache, gurgling, and just feel horrible! Is it possible to be celiac and have such a delayed reaction?
  15. Thanks for responding! I guess a diagnosis is important to me, living in southern louisiana this is a condition not well understood. I guess I'm just wanting to have a name. My blood tests were negative for celiac. It was only noted during the biopsy that it may be celiac. I've tried gluten (stupid, I know) to see what or if I'd have reactions after feeling...
  16. I've never posted before, so I'm a bit nervous! I'm wondering if anyone ever get an inconclusive result?! I've been on this journey for years! After 4 years, I've gotten diagnosed with IBS, bile reflux, acid reflux, endometriosis, gallbladder disease, and possibly celiac. My gallbladder was removed in 2009, then the problems only amplified. I've had endo...
