  1. Man....a shrimp poboy sounds amazing! I'm replying to see the answers, I'd love to know! I must say, I think my hubs and I mastered a gumbo with sweet sorghum flour incase you haven't had a gluten-free gumbo yet ; )
  2. I've been successful at Outback, Bonefish Grill (my fav!), and Mellow Mushroom Pizza. I know everywhere is different, you're only as safe as the people preparing it care.. Good luck finding new places! As always, I'd speak to someone in management to see if they have gluten-free practices in place, then give it a go!
  3. Good to know! Nothing beats a good Mac and cheese! I'm always looking for a good gluten-free one.
  4. I have raynauds, too. I used to have oily skin and scalp and when we believe my celiac was "activated" my skin and scalp became very dry. Neither have changed gluten-free.
  5. I love the Mai Fun rice sticks. Sit them for 5 minutes in hot water and they're done. I love the texture, too.
  6. Very interesting! I'll ask on my next follow up. However, I was seronegative on the celiac panel so I'm not too sure if I make antibodies, lol!
  7. I get hypoglycemia often. I can drop to 30 after a PB&J sandwich : ( My endo said I am prediabetic, one of the lovely comorbidities of celiac. I eat low carb, and about 5-6 times a day. I haven't had an episode since changing my diet this way. The less you ask of your pancreas to to send insulin surges, the longer you can prevent full blown diabetes....
  8. I've definitely seen the squirrel : / "well you obviously can hold weight, so you're fine. this one test is negative. Best I can tell you is, you're broken." then breaks out in laughter....
  9. I definitely see a gain anywhere from 4-8 pounds. After a week, it goes down slowly.
  10. Do you have GERD? I know I'm in a great deal of pain without my nexium. I also had to cut out dairy for the first year and a half, im just adding it back in small amounts. Yay! I was also on Carafate for my ulcers, a second EGD showed they healed, so I no longer have to take that. I take activated charcoal pills to help with trapped gas, it works wonders...
  11. Thank you all so much! I'll update as soon as I get answers from my endo!
  12. Wow, thanks for the info! I am waiting for an endo appointment soon. I do eat pretty balanced, but could find snacks that are better through the day. Just this week, I ate a ham/cheese sandwich for breakfast, 2 hours later my sugar was at 30! The next day, just one piece of toast woith PB and flax seeds, no episode. I can wake up with low sugar, other days...
  13. I was diagnosed the same way. Seronegative with a marsh 1. I had my genes tested and found I have double DQ2 genes. Went gluten free and saw changes, then felt bad again. Found other intolerances. There are days I doubt this dx and wonder since I'm not "officially " diagnosed. But, my body speaks for me. My dr and I are confident its celiac. Good luck...
  14. Has he been eating a lot of meat? Particularly red meat? My doctor told me that was a cause when I found I was more smelly after workouts than normal. I cut back on meats and added more plant protein and it was gone. I hope y'all find the root of his issue!
  15. I has mt vitamin levels checked this summer. My vit D was .08 above the normal line and calcium was on the normal line. So my then gyn said I didn't need any supplements. I have no plans of a follow up as of now. I guess I'll have to request it later. I haven't found what's causing the hypo. I can have 2 episodes in one day, then not again for a few weeks...
  16. I thought since I didn't have much damage, and I'm so far on the diet, I wouldn't have these issues. But I didn't think of patchy spots. I haven't exercised in a few months due to other issues I was dealing with prior to the fractures, so I got my first fracture from normal activity. I am on my feet constantly, however. I teach little ones : ) About a month...
  17. I just found out I have osteopenia after breaking my fourth bone in my foot in 3 years. I broke my sesamoid and third metatarsal 3 years ago on my left foot, broke the exact same bones on my right foot about 3 months ago. My gastro was concerned so he ordered a bone density scan. My gyn had to order it because he couldn't, don't understand that.. She told...
  18. I use the Ms. Bento for my girls' lunches. They say their food is warm at lunch time and it hols quite a bit of food! I keep the bottom cup full of hot water because the middle cup holds all of their food. The brand is Zojirushi. It costs more, but worth it to me.
  19. Your situation sounds very similar to mine. My serology was negative and my biopsy was a marsh 1, which is not specific to only celiac. Because of my symptoms, My dr had me go gluten-free to see if I improved. I went gluten free and felt so much better, but still had hang ups. I later found out I had other food intolerances I had to deal with (corn, dairy...
  20. I hear ya! I'm almost a year and a half gluten-free and am completely SICK of thinking about it, talking about it, and paying for it. However, when I think of the diseases I can get if I'm not diligent, it puts me in my "grateful to have an answer" mood. We're talking diabetes, thyroid disease, arthritis, CANCER to name a few! Imagine celiac and other diseases...
  21. Yes, thankfully they were unopened! I'm ever so grateful for this forum in sooooo many ways : ) I actually wanted to message you because my husband and I are headed to Dallas for the gluten-free expo next month. Where should we eat Saturday night? Anything cool to do after the expo sat afternoon?
  22. Maybe he has a stomach bug of some sort? I know when we get stomach aches or symptoms, we quickly think gluten. Sometimes we get viruses or bugs like everyone else. Just a thought. Ask your ped for zofran to keep for days like this!
  23. Hahaaaa!!!! I laughed way too hard at this!! I've definitely given someone a fake due date instead of the drawn out, "I was contaminated by gluten...no, it's not contagious...." Lol
