  1. Goodness, I was so distraced by my technical issues... Welcome back, Janet! Somehow it's comforting to know that others struggle to stay even a short time with parents who have significant thermostat issues... Welcome back, Joyful! You don't scare easily...excellent! A late Happy Birthday... And no, I haven't hit any other celiac message boards...
  2. Mornin' Sillies! Okay, I need to work something out. You'll have to bear with me, as it's a technical matter, and I'm too lazy to move over to the technical section (and you guys will answer me in so much more entertaining a fashion...so there)! I still cannot get the hang of putting more than one quote in a post. I do the first one, then type a response...
  3. A 3 am shopping excursion is inconceivable to me! Here I was shaking my head at the Crazy Canucks who were heading to the bridge for 5 am on Friday to get in on early-morning bargains... HEINOUS!!
  4. This is a very interesting thread for me, and very timely. My husband has always had terrible gas and at times bloating. His mother is the same, with iron and thyroid issues. His brother was just diagnosed last week with celiac, so now I am absolutely certain that he has it, as well. We are currently waiting for the test kit from Enterolab. He has had...
  5. Funny, Nikki, I was thinking exactly that as I was typing out my theory. You are among the funniest of any on here, and no celiac present. So yes, I believe that the HLA gene carries, along with some horrid things, a great wittiness. I must peruse the other celiac message boards to further test my theory. Bet there are a lot of gaffaws there, too...
  6. Ah...I've had to measure it, what, twice now? Once for his tux, and again for another get-up we had in mind for him...a long bathing suit perhaps? It was a heinous job, and there's no danger pay...how do I get recruited into these tasks? I'll have to tell my dad about your hubby, Sarah. He LOVES to hear that people laughed along with him through...
  7. I suppose he's celiac, as well.....! Thank gawd he's accounted for. What a great idea, Amanda, taking him out shopping. If you at any point decide to pick him up a pair of pants, his inseam is 42 inches. How does your new DH feel about him being around? Just like a 500-pound pet dog, I should think...
  8. I think we may have to admit something...the yeti is missing. No one seems to know where he is. I had fears of him being mistaken for Osama Bin Laden on the transatlantic flight...Susie says she thought she caught a glimpse of him wandering aimlessly within the crowd at the NY parade...Nikki, did he definitely get on a plane at your end? Mygawd... I...
  9. I have a good friend who is a GP, and like so many of them out there, doesn't know a whole lot about celiac or gluten intolerance (the rumour about it being a small paragraph in their medical school textbooks is apparently true). Lately I've been talking with her about the multitude of symptoms of celiac, and the incredible number of illnesses caused...
  10. Jess does some very scientific, math-infused job where she complains of looking very nerdy and professor-ish and is surrounded by test tubes, chemicals, etc. Right, Jess?
  11. Mornin', Sillies! Just doing my morning check-in...I'm at, what, 2020 posts, and the bodily fluids STILL abound. DD had a wicked nosebleed last night for no reason...wouldn't stop. I'm rushing around grabbing kleenexes and shoving her to the sink, muttering, "What IS this? I'm over 1000 posts...When the hell does it all stop?!"...My daughter, through...
  12. We had a snowstorm here today! 25 centimetres (about 12 inches). Winter is suddenly here, that's for sure. However, it is supposed to be 7 degrees on the weekend (upper 40's), so I guess it'll all be gone...why on earth did I spend an hour shovelling?
  13. Bev! Why do you keep driving by? You must park and stay for a while...though I think I know your very wise strategy: if you just slow down, but don't brake completely, the vortex isn't quite able to suck you in.
  14. Our poor yeti....what became of him, on that transatlantic flight? Perhaps he resembles Mr. Bin Laden more than we cared to believe...awesome height, staggering facial hair, speaking no English....I don't believe I've ever seen an insane look in our yeti's eyes, however. A feral kind of wild look, perhaps, but not lunatic. Is our poor beast being held...
  15. Absolutely. I remember it well, and it solidified my suspicions about bodily fluid/large post turnover co-relation...
  16. Forgot to mention while on the subject of Gus and his infected ear, that I have a very serious warning to put out to all of you hovering around the 1000 post mark: Be ready. The rumours are true...bodily fluids on a large scale will enter your life (I haven't been able to determine what decides which kind of fluid), but whichever one it is, it is heinously...
  17. The happiest of Thanksgivings to my American buddies....
  18. Thank you, Nikki! This unexplainable switch from "standard" to "linear" in my controls has made me realize how much this thread has taken over my emotional life. All morning, as I taught, I kept thinking, "Mygawd....what if this is now the way I'll have to be communicating with my Silly brethren?" Anyways, all fixed. Again, Thanks, Nikki... So, Gus...
  19. Whoa!!!.....Something really WEIRD going on here....big changes...BIG CHANGES.... WTH??! Please tell me I'm not the only one constantly getting Richard's initial post from almost 400 pages ago, and an inability to go back a page, and a long list of "posts from this thread", and ALL KINDS OF WEIRD CHANGES! ...Is this a Thanksgiving trick? AAh! Scott's...
  20. I totally agree...those things are heinous. Actually, I've always thought that cranberry sauce served with meat is pretty bizarre. Give me thick, buttery gravy to pour over my turkey....oh, now I gotta go eat something...
  21. Way to go, Tom! But talk about superfluous suffixes...!!
  22. So, I suspect it may be just we lonely Commonwealthers haunting this thread tomorrow. Our American Sillies will be holidaying....eating, drinking, being merry...Can we keep up the madness without them? Gad, what a burden...we'll each be double and triple-shifting, I fear!
  23. Susie...think about it for a minute....German guys will not understand anything you're saying. THEY'LL LOVE YOU!! (Spoken as a close accomplice on the Sillyak thread)...
  24. Yep, my post that you all may have missed (about five posts ago) as I edited and it took forever, addresses this stinky French thing.....
  25. Some of these diplomats (read: the attractive ones) need help that can only be given if I am hovering over them, or seated closely beside them, guiding them through the grammatical exercises. So, I've been close enough to say for sure that none of the students (this term, at least) stink. There certainly have been some rank students from this Embassy, however...
