ARCHIVED Finally Feeling Better For One Whole Week!
danikali posted a topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Well, I have not eaten out at a resturant for the past 2 weeks now (a BIG deal for me) and I've been extra checking all of my labels......(although mostly everything I eat these days are whole foods).........and guess what? I feel great!!!!! I really can't believe it is true! The only symptoms I really have right now is if I sit too long with my legs crossed... -
ARCHIVED Quakers Corn Meal
danikali replied to danikali's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Actually, I usually don't eat corn at all, no pop corn and I've been staying away from processed foods so I don't eat chips at all these days. But I did have some stomach problems after gluten free cake and I just thought about it now; the cornmeal and there was also corn oil in the cake, that is the kind of oil my Mom had (I went home for the holidays to... -
ARCHIVED Packaged Smoked Salmon
danikali replied to danikali's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Okay good! Those are the exact same ingrediants that are in the kind that I get. I don't eat anything with soy in it, of course. I just thought maybe one of those other ingrediants could have gluten IN them, ya know? Thanks! -
ARCHIVED Quakers Corn Meal
danikali replied to danikali's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
No, you're right. That's the Quakers I'm talking about. Hmm...maybe that's it. It's so crazy. I feel like I can't eat anything these days without getting cross contaminated! Thanks, though. -
ARCHIVED Quakers Corn Meal
danikali posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Just wondering if quakers corn meal is safe. I ate it on two days ago and since I've had it, I have some stomach aches and back aches again............maybe I am intolerant to corn? My Mom made it (who I have trouble trusting with all of this to be honest) and she also made it with a little bit of corn oil........... Also, she told me she "heard" kellogs... -
ARCHIVED Packaged Smoked Salmon
danikali posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Just wondering if anyone knows if pre-cooked packaged smoked salmon could have gluten in it.......... If so, what ingrediants would I have to look out for in that? Thanks -
Hi everyone! I'm just curious about the nationalities of everyone to see how many of you fit the "Northern European" classic, aspect of Celiac Disease, and how many of you are something completely different. I'm wondering because I am Polish and German and a lot of doctors in the begining, wrote off testing for Celiac just because of my background....

Thanks guys! (You're cake sounds pretty too Jenvan! yeah, I think the square cakes are more "in" these days. I think they are really classy. And I am obsessed with bows, so when I saw this cake, I was completely sold!) So good feedback on the zelnorm. I'm going to change my food around a little bit and see if that helps before I go back on the pill...

Yeah that makes sense. Thank you. That explains a lot. I also do eat a lot of bananas these days because when I get hungry at work and I'm out of food, I run out to a deli (I live in NYC, they are everywhere:) and I usually go for the bananas because I know they are completely safe because of the peel. I guess I should limit myself to one a day for those...

ARCHIVED What's Your Comfort Food?
danikali replied to mookie03's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
When I get glutened (which has happened a lot these past couple weeks!) the only things that didn't hurt my stomach were organic applesauce, bananas and peptobismol helped too. -
I have the blood in the toilet thing from time to time since I was really little. And yes, I had a colonoscopy, and my doctor didn't even mention the hemroids, but when I asked for the test results myself, it was one of the items under the diagnosis colum. Soooo, because she didn't even tell me about them herself, I'm assuming they weren't that bad.....?...

Thank you for replying. Well, I'm not really constipated anymore (after going gluten free). I wasn't when I saw Dr. Green. I was going every to every other day (amazing for someone who would only go once every two to three weeks), but blood filled the toilet from the stool being too hard, so that's why he gave it to me. I don't take it everyday, and I...

Hi, I'm going to reply to myself: Has no one been offered zelnorm? Am I the only one who has come across this decision?
-
Hi everyone! How are your holidays going? I haven't written in a long time! Anyway, I reccently went to the famous Dr. Green in New York City for help with everything because I was having way too many problems to cope on my own and I was sick of the doctors that I've had not helping. Anyway, he gave me zelnorm to help keep me regular. I've been taking...

ARCHIVED Is It Possible To Create New Food Intolerances
danikali replied to danikali's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks. Yeah, it's just so odd to me that I could feel fine and then out of nowhere again, I am sicker than ever! I'm scared to eat! I am feeling better today, but I'm scared to mess it up. All I've had is applesauce and 2 bananas. -
ARCHIVED Sodium Lactate.....
danikali posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Well I am researching everything to figure out what it is I ate on Sunday that killed me so badly. I looked at the ingrediants of the ham that I ate and noticed that it said "sodium lactate." Does anyone know if that could be bad for someone with gluten/dairy intolerance? Or is that NOT my culprit? -
ARCHIVED Is It Possible To Create New Food Intolerances
danikali replied to danikali's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks everyone. Hmmm.....that's pretty interesting........because on Sunday I was feeling pretty darn good! It's so frusterating when you think it's over and then BOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM, it hits you again 10 TIMES WORSE! I guess I just really have to get used to everything and how my body reacts when I get glutened. I'm living on applesauce for now though... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Newly Diagnosed Starving?
danikali replied to danikali's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Wow! Thank you everyone! Hahah, Rachel, you said you are guilty of leaving panic messages on this board, THAT'S ALL I DO when I get sick again! hahaha......it's like, I go straight to this forum and freak out to everyone! I love that everyone listens and still answers me just to put me at ease. That's so sweet and I appreciate it so much. I know that... -
ARCHIVED Help!
danikali replied to danikali's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks everyone...... This is just too horrible. I am always always always sick. I'm at work and for the past hour (I'm a legal assistant), I went into an attorney's office who is on maternity leave, and I layed down on my stomach and in the fetal position and now I am feeling a lot better. A LOT. Not normal, the burning is still on my arm and my stomach... -
Well, I have been sick on and off since last Thursday since I got glutened at a buffet. Well, I thought I was on my way to heatlh yesterday because I wasn't eating ANYTHING processed, only whole natural foods. Well, I had a banana and apple in the morning, chicken (plain-cooked myself) for lunch with carrots and an orange and for dinner we went to my...

Thanks! I know, can you believe this? Starting yesterday after that crappy fruit, and today, the WHOLE day my stomach is bothering me and I think I'm going to make a run for the bathroom a 4th time! I hope this goes away soon, I really THOUGHT I was just starting to get a hang of it! Stefi, how long after you get glutened does it take for you to feel better...

ARCHIVED One More Thing.....
danikali posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Does anyone know if ORBIT gum is gluten free for sure? I thought I read it somewhere, but I can't find it anymore. Also, if I buy nuts that simply say "Raw Almonds" -there is no possibility of getting glutened by them, right? -
ARCHIVED How Do You Handle People Who Refuse To Recognize This Celiac Stuff?
danikali replied to frustratedneicey's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
May I just say, THAT SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE MY MOM!!! For some reason, no matter how many times I tell her, she still offers me things I can't have and then acts like it's not a big deal when I get frustrated! Even my fiance asked me why she's always offering things she SHOULD KNOW BY NOW that I can't have! The way I have finally learned to deal... -
And let me say, you are smart!!! I'm going to start that too, where I eat the same exact thing everyday, foods that I KNOW are safe for me. From now on, it's only potatos, rice and veggies and fruit from home (unless there is a peel)- Also, anyone know if I buy any kind of nuts, and in the ingrediants, it just says "raw almonds" for example, is there any...
