ARCHIVED Glutened From Colonoscopy Prep.?
mightymorg replied to danikali's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I don't think the phospho-soda has gluten. It's just a salt saline solution. I know I felt like cr@p the day afterward, but those meds put a lot of stress on your body. IF you did have gluten, I'm thinking there are 2 possibilities: 1) cross cotamination from Amy's 2) the life saver gummies. I know gummi bears are made in a starch mold, though I don... -
ARCHIVED Confused About Test Results
mightymorg replied to danikali's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It's great that you got all that testing out of the way! I don't know what to tell you about your results, but I know--for me, personally--that 1 positive would be enough of an answer! I had a colonoscopy a couple of weeks ago, and my doc did the exact opposite thing your's did! He told me he'd take biopsies, then I later found out he didn't. He said... -
ARCHIVED She Sabatoged Her gluten-free Diet!
mightymorg replied to Becky6's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Oh my! It's funny what little kiddos will put in their mouths...but I really hope she doesn't get too sick from them! However, if she remembers she got sick because of something she wasn't suppossed to eat, that could prevent this happenning again. I hope she stays well! -
I heard about that poor girl too. Obviously, someone (parents, doctor...etc) wasn't responsible enough to educate them about careless risks. It makes me sad. I didn't see the show on the Discovery channel; I completely forgot! I hope they show a rerun soon...I'd love to see it.

ARCHIVED Got My Genetic Results
mightymorg replied to Nantzie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You described exactly what my fiance said. He becomes upset when I don't feel good, and he tries so hard to help me in any way that he can, though he knows that nothing (meds, etc) does any good. He knows this will take time and dedication; he's just upset that he has to see someone he loves very much to go through this and not be able to do anything to... -
I'm trying to stabilize my weight also...I lost 8 pounds over a month. My best friend has become peanut butter! Not too bad for you, addictive, and definetly helps up the caloric intake. I noticed you said you have bad acid reflux...I sympathize. Ever since all this, I've been having a huge problem with it too!

Hey Liz! We all understand; this process can be trying at times. But you've already accomplished so much in revising your eating habits--only a few more steps and you'll be completely gluten-free! I myself am awaiting blood test results. Though, even if they do come back negative, I want to stay gluten-free. Now, when I eat, I don't feel as though a...

ARCHIVED I Guess I Have To Starve?
mightymorg replied to frustratedneicey's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The boredom you are having with naturally gluten-free food can be how you are preparing it. You could have a delicious salad of cheap salad greens topped with sliced chicken breast, some pecans, and fruit (apple, strawberries, canned peaches) and a gluten-free dressing. Potatoes are wonderful...I live off of those. Make a soup with potato, celery, onion... -
I agree with the lawyer-remember, he knows how jury members think, and it would only cost y'all more money and time to go that route, and the only thing you would get from it is added stress, which would not be benefitial for your husband. The majority of my symptoms also surfaced after trauma (I had been in recovery for an eating disorder and I relapsed...

ARCHIVED What To Cook For Turkey Day?
mightymorg replied to racergirl435's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thank you! It's not Thanksgiving or Christmas without that salad and my mom's squash casserole! I hope you enjoy it! -
ARCHIVED Two Different Items....two Possible Glutens
mightymorg replied to Mahee34's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't know about the cider. I do know that many people are a little sensitive to tomato products...I'm one of them, as well as my brother. It could be the acid within the product. Also, though I (luckily) tolerate Splenda well, I've read many accounts of people not handling it well, as in using the bathroom a lot, feeling nauseous, etc. A lot of people... -
ARCHIVED What To Cook For Turkey Day?
mightymorg replied to racergirl435's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I'm making my family's recipe for cranberry sauce salad to bring to Thanksgiving with my dbf's family. It's gluten free, and OH SO GOOD!! Especially when you eat it together with the turkey! Cranberry Sauce Salad: 2 jars whole cranberry sauce large can crushed pineapple, in juice 1 cup chopped pecans 2 packages lemon OR orange gelatin grated rind... -
ARCHIVED What Do You Think?
mightymorg replied to menwall's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi! I'm fairly new to this site also, but it is so helpful and I'm sure you'll find the same! It does sound like you do have some symptoms for celiac disease...I just got my blood tested last week, so I'm waiting for my own results. I do understand, though, your frusteration with doctors...MANY of us here do! -
ARCHIVED Dreary Statistic!
mightymorg replied to CMCM's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You are so smart! No, it does make complete sense. I've visited a couple of IBS boards, and all people talked about was what new meds or enzymes they were trying out...that WERE NOT WORKING! It's people like you who let people like me know about this, benefit from it, and help others benefit, too! -
ARCHIVED When Did It Start?
mightymorg replied to CMCM's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
That's an interesting question. I know I was always constipated growing up, but I didn't know that wasn't good...I thought it was normal. I remember always having a tummy ache. Plus, I could eat a gazillion calories a day up through high school and still be bony without doing much. I didn't start having the rest of my sypmtoms (and the others getting... -
That's great! At least they're giving some attention to the matter! Hurry up, 2008!

ARCHIVED Sooo I Went To The Doc..
mightymorg replied to VydorScope's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm also waiting on my blood test results--I can definetly relate!! All this BP talk...when I went in on Friday, my BP was 104/61...Wednesday, right before my colonoscopy my BP was 116/84. I thought it would be higher than that because I was scared outta my mind! I guess that's a little high for me now, though...it makes sense though if my BP is going... -
They're called Rice Chrunch-Ums (from Health Valley)...they would work great! In fact, I'm eating a bowl of them right now!

ARCHIVED Would A Colonoscopy Show Cd?
mightymorg replied to CMCM's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
A colonoscopy won't show villi damage due to celiac disease, but a biopsy during an endoscopy (inspecting the small intestine) might...it can rule it in, but you could have celiac disease even without a positive biopsy. That's what I've gathered...hth! -
ARCHIVED Good Cereals To Eat?
mightymorg replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I second the Envirokidz for something a little sweet. My main preference though is Health Valley's Rice Crumch-Ums. Just like Chex, and great with some banana sliced on top! -
Sadly, I highly doubt American doctors will wake up. My Dr. that I saw yesterday actually told me that "doctors are discouraged from performing biopsies if everything looks fine." Can you BELIEVE that?!? How about on the microscopic level? I know a biopsy during my colonoscopy wouldn't be indicative of celiac disease, but for Pete's sake, what about something...

Well, I just got back from my PCP's office, and told her how frusterated I was with everything. I mean, IBS is a diagnose of exclusion, so why should I be "diagnosed" with that without having anything done?! I finally got her to comply to my request of having a celiac panel. At first she said she would anly check for AGA IgA and AGA IgG...she said she...

ARCHIVED Are You Positive Or Negative About Having Cd?
mightymorg replied to Billygoat's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm not actually diagnosed--I just got back from having the blood panel done!! However, if I were to have celiac, I'd be positive about it. It's an answer, and it's fixable. Ultimately, the gluten-free diet can be a lot healthier than a normal diet. What's so negative about that? But, I have to say I'm not all to positive in regards to doctors.... -
Wow, Lizzy, I can certainly see why you are frusterated! I also have bad refluz, and I'm also worried about the condition of my esophagus! Some docs can be really insensitive.

ARCHIVED Slimfast Drinks
mightymorg replied to Mahee34's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You know, I'm not sure...I would say they are not gluten-free. That makes me think of a month ago when I drank a vanilla SlimFast Optima during a class and I had the worst pain, bloating...everything. That's a good question!
