  1. I've been told that flour particles can stay in the air for 24-48 hours after use. We don't keep any flour in our home that contains gluten. My mom went gluten free with me. My dad gets food out when he wants something that is flour based and all his other food is in a specific cabinet in the kitchen. we also have a toaster oven for my dad to use when he...
  2. I personally don't mind paying a little more when eating out at a restaurant that offers gluten free options. I know its not always the easiest to change what you are making to make gluten free food. I think restaurants that are willing to make accommodations for those of us with celiac disease are few and far between and I am just happy when I can find somewhere...
  3. Thanks, Iv'e been thinking it over and talked with my sister, and she agrees with my doctor too, I am still thinking of quitting. My sister said I should go and tell them today so i can be done and over with it and focus more on myself and getting better which is what i need right now. I really have felt like I have been done with them since December. I took...
  4. Today I had a doctor appointment to talk to my doctor about returning to work. he authorized me to return to work on the 7th by my employer hasn't let me return yet, i was given restrictions by my doctor and they have asked for him to be more specific every time he rewrites them. I have been feeling like im being forced to quit, every time i talk to my managers...
  5. Dextrin is a food additive made from starch. I have problems with food additives, I try not to eat anything with additives, because I know they make me feel like I am being glutened even if I'm not.
  6. Has your husband had blood work done to see if his antibodies are still high or normalizing. If he takes any medicines or vitamins double check to see if there are any sources of gluten in those.
  7. I'm sorry that you feel so alone. I know how you feel. My sister says she understands and then she says lets go out to eat, or we are in town and she gets hungry and just can't wait to get home. I sometimes feel like I'm a burden because she can go out and eat anywhere and I'm always scared to eat out. If i'm in town and she knows it I will get a text message...
  8. I've been wondering the same thing also. I've had times where i can't even lift 2 lbs without feeling like it weighs 10 or 20 lbs. My dr referred me to a rhuemotologist who said that she did think i had fibromyalgia and she wanted to run more test to rule out other things and that's how i got diagnosed with celiac also. I always had the symptoms for both...
  9. So I'm trying to get ahead and make my Christmas gingerbread cookies this morning, since I'm learning how to cook and bake gluten free. I get everything ready and prepped my doough and in the process of making my cookies I managed to turn the oven off and not notice then I eventually realized when I was like why aren't my cookies baking. So it was an interesting...
  10. Sorry for your loss. I'm sorry you can't get a second opinion until January 6. I would call the office and ask to be put on a cancellation list or keep calling and see if anyone has cancelled their appointments and maybe you can get in early. This is what i do when i get told that i can't be seen in a "reasonable" time frame. I was just recently diagnosed...
  11. I'm right there with you, I was just recently diagnosed and have good days and bad days. Because I am having so many bad days and its affecting my work, I am actually taking some time off from work because I just can't do my job because of it. Everyone keeps telling me that only time will help, well that's hard to hear, when your pain seems to be getting...
  12. I've just been recently diagnosed and i've also had to give up dairy. I miss dairy products so much more than I miss gluten, especially Hershey kisses!!!! I also miss my friends cookies that she makes for the holidays. This is going to be my first Christmas gluten free and i'm excited to see what I can create this Christmas!!
  13. I also was just recently diagnosed and am having a lot of difficulties and super sensitivity. I am taking some time off from work because it is affecting my job. I am just trying to focus on getting better and I know it will take some time. Good Luck
  14. Its very important to get tested to rule out if you have Celiac or just gluten sensitivity. I would talk to your dr and see what they say about testing you, if they don't think they should, I would find a dr that would test you. I really didn't want to do the endoscopy and colonoscopy, but since my blood test were highly positive my doctors really thought...
  15. I've just recently been diagnosed with Celiac and i'm still waiting for the biopsy results to see the severity. My managers at work have been working with me but I've been reacting to just being in my work center, and I'm having to leave work early everyday or work out a way to get my shift covered so I don't have to go to work that day. I work with food...
