Now that I look back on things I just can't believe it makes so much sense!
-When I was in college we practically lived on noodles and poptarts. I was always ill and had marjor diareah numberous times a day.
- a bowl of cheerios would make me have diareah more times in a day then I could imagine as a teen, but it was reliable when I was constipated.
-reoccuring stomachaches, yet, I craved bread and pasta
-Had much trouble with dyslexia in school and still do on occasion. and brain fog, trouble concentrating, depression, much period trouble (also have endometrisos) but the gluten-free diet has helped a ton.
-always wondered why I felt sick 20 minutes after I ate.
-can not tolerat fast food like McDonalds. With in 40 minutes, I am in the bathroom, and continues throughout the night.
-lower left ab pain that I always thought was realated to my endometriosis. When getting in internal ultrasound I'd be in massive, jumping off of the table pain. It now clears up when on a gluten-free diet.

A few minutes ago I just posted a question about the Enterolab tests. But I found the big discussion on it a few posts down. I don't know what to think. My gut says yes, but I am interested too to see if I carry the gene. I also ordered one test A for my daughter.

mamaw,
Our private catholic school doesn't provide gluten-free meals that I know of. I never thought to ask though.

HI, After decreasing gluten in my daughters diet this summer, the question now comes up, what ideas can we send to school with her for lunch? Anyone have any good ones?

HI,
We have finally decided to take a trip to Toronto in August. We've been looking at hotels to stay in on travelocity and some of the customers opinions are those places aren't helpful. My husband and I have two kids 2 and 7. Where do you reccomend safe, yet resonable places to stay?
Where would you avoid as well.

OH BOY, I saw this topic and cringed. Last year, in March 2005, my 1 yr old son, was was just begining to get pink eye, but we didn't know what to look for at the time. He had all the classic symptoms (that we now know). He wasn't quite rid of it when my daughter came down with it about a week in a half later amd the momms about three days later too. Then my husband another week in a half later and then of course, the momma a week 1/2 afterwards AGAIN. We took up the whole month with pink eye!
I remember this rather like it was yesterday, because when my son was just getting it, we had gotten family pictures done for our church year book and he looks awful.

It's contagious all right. The meds and drops did help and boy do you need to wash wash WASH with soap every time after administering and touching.

HI
I have an aquaintence who is vegan and celiac. She is actually from another board (endometriosis that I moderate). Anyhow, she is coming to East Lansing, MIchigan and I wondered what was available that was both vegan and celiac as far as restraunts go?

YES'EM, I"ve decided to bag is many times!................and then I get sick, feel yucky and have MAJOR diareah and stomach/intestinal pain and discomfort. So, then I get back on it and do better the next time. I think this is like my third time after stuffing it.
I found a good book by Bettey Hagman that has GREAT recipees that taste like regular food. I'd highly recommend it to someone new starting out. I"ve been at this since Nove 2005 and I am still struggeling but getting used to it. I know that I dn't want to feel that way anymore and that's often enough lately to not eat it.
I had one of the kids left over cinnamon toast waffles in my mouth the other morning and some how, I spit it back out, as much as I wanted to eat it. Really, not having those things use to feel like I was missing something, but now they don't taste as good at all and I know, boy do I konw, if I eat that, I'll be paying for it the next couple of days. ANd I"ve got stuff to do that I'd like to feel good for.

HI,
I've been looking at some sites, Enjoy Life, to see how prices compare to the stores here. Why is online more expensive, plus you still have to pay for shipping. Ouch!

HI,
Here's an idea, I baked a whole bag of potatoes.
Cut them in 1/2s first, Wrapped each one in foil, cooked till soft.
Scooped out the middles and added fresh bacon, chopped green onion, sliced mozzerella and some spices, chicken.
Now, I have about 30 single potatoes in the freezer. I can pull one out and eat it at a time.

HI, I borrowed the Bettey Hagman book a few weeks ago and so far everything I've made was GREAT!! I was especially thrilled with making mushroom soup homemade. My whole family ate it. AHHH HAAA!! It was good. I'd reccomend that book.

I had no idea I was vit. d deficient until I had blood work done at the rheumy's this winter. Though, living in Michigan, it's understandable. I was so low that she perscribed 50,000 ius once a week and I"Ve been taking that for at least three months now.
At first when I took it I hurt more then I did for about 12 hours and this happened for three weeks in a row, but the 4th week, all of a sudden the muslce pains were gone. I no longer felt like I was going to have charlie horses in my legs or arms.

Funny Rusula, After I read the same post, I went out and looked at the Lean Cuisean meals too. But the ones I found weren't ones I could eat that I thought I would like.

HI, I think the Lexapro will help curve some of the side effect of tapering off of the Effexor. I do hope this will be a rather slow process, as it can play havic mentally. Good luck. I am also taking Effexor.

Well, the Rheumy said it looked like Candida and sent me to get Tetrazol, which has helped. And she said "get back on the gluten diet" and it'll be interesting to see how quickly it clears up..becuase I've been known to have it for weeks over the years.
I am doing better and back on the diet.
Still working on the attitude.

This was a great topic I saw posted and interesting to me. I stopped the Celiac diet last Saturday because I decided since I didn't have a definate diagnosis I wasn't going to do it anymore.
Well, by Monday morning, I woke up with a rash on both sides of my upper thighs. SO, of course, I itched it and then on Tuesday put on the antifungal cream that you use for althletes foot. By Thursday, I was calling the Rheumy to have her look at it..............I was wondering if it was related to Celiac. So, I am back on the diet, and using Tetrazol for the rash. All is well.

Can You Share More About Why You Felt Ok With Using This Lab?
in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms

HI,
The process of ordering the tests on line was very easy and paying was also easy.
It's the back and forth information about weather or not it's more relyable then the blood work. IT's a lot of money, but I'm still interested in doing both my daughter and I. WE (hubby and I) are in deabate about weather or not it wil be usedful for us or if knowning that we react to the gluten is enough.
Now our bcbs said that all of those tests were covered based on the diagnosis they gave, provided it was from an approved lab. Entero Las wasn't on the "approved" list fro bcbs ppo.
SO, I did call the rheumatologist to talk with her and she said she'd done the celiac tests. But I got an e mail from someone saying that I need to ask for a celiac panel test. I would have thought the rheumy would have known to do that. SO there's some confusion there about why it wasn't done.
I do have both of the packages from Enterolab here, so If I change my mind. I"m guessing I can just do a reorder!?!???? I've been thinking maybe I'll do one now for me and do another one for megan later if I can't find any other approved labs here.
Now, does WHY is ENtero lab different, other then being in Texas?
