Certainly seems likely if those levels dropped due to gluten removal. I am just curious, when you had the scope eventually, were you eating it? Are you feeling any better? -

Certainly the post was not aimed at you directly. Are you still feeling unwell? Shame on your doctor for denying you a diagnostic test. How long have you been gluten free? Which tests were positive? Have they been re-tested since you were gluten free? Do you carry the gene? Finally, roughly where do you live? -

ÖThe potential celiac or NCGS diagnosis is given to me by the Celiac researchEr. I do not think it's official until after we meet again. actually I have not heard of that doctors work. I will look it up and see if I can listen to an interview. Thanks for sharing. some of the symptoms that I continue to have Had on a strict gluten-free diet ... -

Lol!!! Well what the heck. I'm not entirely sure how the message boards figure out the algorithm sometimes. however, the Advice was totally informative and I appreciate it! I am a bit nervous about taking iron so I was thinking I would take a safe dose maybe every other day or so for a little while and ask my doctor To rerun the panel. a friend... -

Matt, Your post has literally changed my attitude over my morning coffee today In a matter of minutes. You have done a wonderful job summing up the experience of not only myself, and you as well, but my guess is probably a lot of people who come to this board. I know from having some email conversations with researchers that even those... -
ARCHIVED Ferritin Levels
ironictruth replied to Peta's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Does he run a lot? On hard ground? My ferritin started at 74 and is now 20. My rbc count was normal but showed mild anemia after an 18 hour fast. I initially also thought it might be due to malabsorption, and it may be, although my gut doesn't show a ton of damage. Coincidentally I started running around all of this, with A 6 month break in between... -

Oh good luck with your challenge and I hope you're able to feel better soon! Yes, I am well aware of Michael Marsh and his thoughts and they are certainly in the back of my mind. I was on gluten for 5 months when I had the most recent antibody testing. Admittedly my TTG was the highest I've ever seen it but it's still a 7 and the reference range... -

That is true most people on the board do refer for Endoscopy and are responsible in their replies to people who are initially reaching out. But I did have experiences where some folks will tell people that certain tests are only positive with celiac disease. Which is not the case, so I'm just reminding those folks. -
ARCHIVED anyone have database access to journals?
ironictruth replied to ironictruth's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Umm...so that is a brilliant suggestion. I will call and ask. If not, I think we have a student intern starting in the next couple of weeks, they always have access to databases at university libraries. Thanks Karen -

In reading the forums I often find old posts of people undergoing testing who vanish and I always wonder what happened. I appreciate the support I have been provided. The only thing I want to remind everyone of is that no test is 100% totally sensitive and accurate all of the time. My story: I had blood drawn because my brother was diagnosed with... -
ARCHIVED Looking for Celiac Specialist in NH or Massachusetts for young child
ironictruth replied to NHMom1016's topic in Doctors
I hear ya NHmom. But I also hear cyclinglady, and the many others on this board. Take it from me, it is horrible to have some questionable bloodwork and/or a questionable biopsy. I cannot imagine going through what you are with your little one. I cannot even handle it for me and I am an adult! It is worth the wait to get an educated opinion vs... -

ARCHIVED Question about lab work
ironictruth replied to Christory77's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, endoscopy is needed. The gliadin tests can be false positive with liver issues, connective tissue disease and other autoimmune disorders. Best to rule out or in celiac before going gluten free. Have you considered the genetic test? -

Alessio Fasano at Mass General. or Maureen Leonard. Mass General has a Celiac disease program at the Children's Hospital there in Boston. You literally could not be any closer to the best. Good luck. Open Original Shared Link I went there as an adult and they do provide virtual visits once you're established as well. So if you're not very close... -
ARCHIVED Am I a Celiac?
ironictruth replied to HARRYE10's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You need to get a full celiac panel including ttg, dgp, ema and overall iga. all of those should be ordered I would be suspicious of a doctor who did not order the entire panel. a lot of people on here including myself started off with a GI doctor who was not too Savvy with celiac disease and ended up having to get second opinions. you may want... -
ARCHIVED lab questions
ironictruth replied to croco's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
These results, assuming you have been on a gluten free diet since the original tests in 2015, likely mean you are still being exposed to gluten which is why you still feel s$#&ty. Go see a GI or go on a non processed gluten free no going out to eat strict diet for 3 months and see how you feel. -

Thank you for trying Kerry! I was unable to open the link though. Another celiac.com page pops up telling me I do not have an account for it. -
ARCHIVED Celiac testing questions
ironictruth replied to Carlinag123's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The suggestion is 8-12 weeks per celiac center in chicago. My doc is a celiac specialist as well and told my to wait a couple more weeks to get tested when I was 2 months into eating gluten again. So, I did mine at 10 weeks. I am sure some folks test positive after just a week, or 6. -

That is a new user with some really odd advice on multiple posts. Other users have theorized there may be a language/translation issue as well.
