  1. Have you cut out coffee and acidic foods during the time you were trying to heal the gastritis? As well as aspirin? Because if not, you are probably not healed. Use low acid coffee if you must (I use Rich Rewards) and DGL licorice root. Make sure it is DGL as plain licorice can mess with potassium. The chewables taste yummy! I did the above and...
  2. Yes, that is implied as possible. Certainly should spur some additional studies.
  3. Yes. Thanks. I am also amazed. Not sure I actually have celiac but at least now I can rule it out/in with an actual specialist. Because my first GI did not know about DGP, failed to draw blood work, and my second GI told me people with celiac just "get the runs". So I am learning a lot about what folks have to go through for a diagnosis! of celiac either...
  4. Well, I did not do the study so I cannot answer the questions though the study pointed out the handful of Marsh 1 And 2 may continue to develop the disease and possibly a subsequent study with follow-up overtime would be in order. The study was done using patients from two major Celiac Disease centers so I'm sure the doctors are well aware of...
  5. I gave up on local GIs and went for a 5 hour drive to a specialist. mine is a long story, but you might want to trust me on the fact that if you're holding out on one local GI to give you The answers About you potentially having this disease you might be better off saving your time and money and driving to the University of Alberta. assuming they have a...
  6. Just a FYI, gliadin or AGA, was replaced by DGP/deamidated gliadin roughly 10 years ago. It was Considered a far more accurate test than the AGA referenced by Chicago. Even more confusing is that companies such as Inova offer both tests. Inova uses the same name but the deamidated version they put II after it. So gliadin (AGA) and gliadin lite II...
  7. Open Original Shared Link yes there is a risk of false positive With that test. There also is no set-in-stone amount of time for the gluten challenge there was one study that suggested only about fifty or sixty percent of folks became positive on the biopsy after a 12 week gluten challenge. One thing you can do is get the genetic...
  8. Personal choice. But it is a huge life restriction and blood tests can be inaccurate. Plus, if he continues to have whatever issues led to the testing to begin with you will never know what the official diagnosis is. Where do you live that your friend waited a year?
  9. Here is a link to a recent study showing the DGP to not be as reliable as previously thought. Open Original Shared Link I am not sure how to attach the full study. The authors do say there were a few folks with Marsh one and two scores that were not included in the final celiac disease results. They also admit it's a small sample size and they...
  10. I would highly suggest making sure you have a celiac savvy GI and a decent endocrinologist. I have had some positive DGP tests as well and was told by a celiac research center that they are likely to not be as accurate as is portrayed online. I literally am doing a second lengthier gluten challenge now and driving out of state to see a GI and am...
  11. Thank you. My thyroid was normal in August except a nodule and enlarged lymphnode. But I know it needs to be run again. Am waiting on an appointment with an endo.
  12. Thank you. Mine is not a burning. More of a twisting pressure and a tender pain. I hope you get yours figured out!
  13. What were the reference ranges on the Iron binding capacity and the Ferritin? Are you already taking iron?
  14. Thank you Posterboy. My gallbladder was removed in 1997 with an infected bile duct and 13 gallstones. I Had been walking around like that with extreme episodes of pain and pregnant at the time. I was very young and my doctor told me it was false labor and thAt I would not be able to handle labor. after one very bad episode, 14 hours of pain straight, I...
  15. That is an EXCELLENT point! Maybe I will go in for a consult and bring that point up and see what he says. I have a small hiatial hernia (2 cm). I thought perhaps that was getting larger and causing me trouble (I am willing to try anything) and this chiro apparently addresses hernia and stomach issues. It also hurts to touch the rib in one spot under...
  16. both excellent points. I actually would have a rib on the right hand side that I could feel move on and off previously, it just never caused pain. maybe it Is just pinching something. I have an appointment for the chiropractor on Friday. And I have been bulking up on vitamin D recently and trying to increase my calcium. I have never tested for osteoporosis...
  17. My sibo test was negative. I am on day 23 of gluten. 12 days into it the blood panel was negative. Will shoot to retest in March. My right rib cage area still has a lot of pressure and pain. The pressure sometimes feels like something is moving under the ribs. Eating gluten again did not seem to change much other then headaches until i noticed...
  18. Perhaps not celiac related, but maybe someone has had this experience. For months now I get a mix of pain and pressure in the right rib cage. It sometimes moves down to even the hip bone area. At times I can feel even" movement" in the right rib area. We call it the radioactive gerbil at work (long story, obviously a joke). I do notice at times...
  19. I do not have great advice on this, other then get the blood work done (TTG, EMA and DGP). Try the diet again and see how you feel. But, be careful with supplements. You are probably pretty safe with some b12 and d. But you can overdo a b complex. And as much as I love kombucha, in great amounts it can contribute to yeast and bacteria issues....
  20. I had migraines as a kid, floaters developed at age of 23 after some visual disturbances and have recently developed migraines again. I also had stabbing pains in my eyes, but my eye doc said that was due to dry eye caused by xanax most likely. But I am not dx. Some conflicting antibody blood work, DQ2, and non specific intestinal inflammation.
  21. Lots of folks with Hashimoto's eat gluten-free. There is also T3 expression and thyroid cells in the gut. I kind of wonder if the intestinal villi are just in the way and the antibodies are really after the thyroid cells and for some folks it just takes awhile for that attack to occur in the intestine while others it occurs before the actual thyroid...
  22. I had A weakly positive DGP IGA And a negative biopsy last year. DQ2. This past summer I had a moderate positive combined DGP test where they combined the IGA and IGG In one test. oddly when they separated the test and ran it again they both came out negative. I had just inflammation in that biopsy. That was on a gluten-free diet. A celiac disease...
  23. Total IGA can be elevated with autoimmune issues..so do not freak on the cancer thing. I can tell you I tested at a 20 and 21 on the DGP IGA twice over 18 months ago. The Celiac Disease folks at University of Chicago's website will tell you that a weak positive DGP IGA can be misleading. They also informed me of this via email, and told me a positive...
  24. @cyclinglady Yes, I made a few delicious stews per your advice over the last several months. I may be due for one this Sunday.
  25. When did you start the Carafate? Why did you start it? It sounds like the biopsy did not show inflammation? I was on that drug as well and bagged it. It can cause tummy troubles which is counter intuitive considering it is used to treat ulcers. It is hard to determine what are initial symptoms and what are side effects of drugs you are taking. For example...
