The system will not let me edit Avatar. When I click on "Edit Avatar" in my controls, I get a bunch of lines with text on it. Is there another way to do this or is something down, or is it my computer?

After 1 1/2 years diagnosed w/Gluten intolerant, I was just diagnosed with Bipolar II, a mild form of Bipolar. As I look back, when I did eat gluten, aside from the digestive symptoms, I felt a crazy feeling after digesting gluten, and would be anxious/depressed for days. Eliminating gluten from my diet has definitely been a step in the positive direction...

ARCHIVED Glutening Symptoms
slpinsd posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
OK- I've been gluten-free for about 9 months now. I have made remarkable improvement in digestion and found that I can now handle dairy and many other things I previously reacted to. But sometimes, when I am doing really well- I go into denial- due to the neg. blood and biopsy- I wonder if this whole thing is all a big fluke and if it was something else... -
I've been getting these sores on my scalp that ooze and crust over. I wouldn't say itchy- but sore. Yes- there is wheat in one of my shampoos. I haven't been entirely gluten-free on the shampoo thing. I don't have a problem with any of my other products that have wheat in them. What is confirmed DH on the scalp like? Do you have to have direct contact...

Hi Floridian- Thanks for the info. I recently got a book called, "Could it be B12?" I may have pernicious anemia. I am going to be going in for some more testing. My levels were found very low- at 48, but I don't know of any positive family history. How were you diagnosed? Was it givng you symptoms? Is it common for the two- Celiac and Pernicious Anemia...

ARCHIVED Very Irregular Heart Beat, Especially After Eating?
slpinsd replied to mesmerize's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Before I was gluten-free, I got weird fluttery beat thingies after eating gluten. Now that I have removed gluten, they have almost entirely subsided. I do believe that they come from eating something you are allergic to or intolerant to. I was recently allergic to an antibiotic I was taking, and I had a those chest thumps about every 20-30 seconds for... -
i had an endoscopy and nothing was mentioned about a hernia. can i assume i don't have one?

What are the symptoms of a hiatal hernia and how is it diagnosed? My reflux gets so bad that I feel like someone is sitting on my chest and I have difficulty breathing. I also have some kind of esophageal muscle spasms.

ARCHIVED Newbie And Multiple Food Intolerances
slpinsd replied to CeliacInSanDiego's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Rachel and welcome to the board. It is great to see a fellow San Diegan! When I was diagnosed with gluten intolerance, I also had an IgG food sensitivity test done, which included 96 foods. That helped me to zone down in on exactly what I was intolerant to. I also keep a food diary. It might help if you do want to check into the blood testing. I... -
my b-12 def. was diagnosed through a vitamin b-12 blood test. it is not usally included in a regular CBC. If it was causing a significant anemia, that may show up in decreased RBC's, but you can have a b12 deficiency without anemia. if your blood test looks low or you are having b12 def symptoms, they should run further testing, like antiparietal, or...

gabrielle, I started having panic attacks, out of nowhere about 1 year ago. That's when I started looking into some possible physical causes. I found that I had adrenal exhaustion. This can cause depression, anxiety, and panic attacks. It is caused by chronic stress to the body- physical and/or emotional. Bodily stress, coming from GLUTEN, vitamin...

glad i found this post! ive been doing a lot of research in regards to a b12 deficiency and celiac. there is a lot over in the peripheral neuropathy thread, and rose is the expert. you may want to check that out. in regards to your #;s: 1. an isolated b12 deficiency is not necessarily pernicious anemia, and pernicious anemia and b12 deficiencies do...

ARCHIVED Bloodwork Back, Inconclusive - Now The Biopsy.
slpinsd replied to MrsC's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
ChelsE- you are going back on gluten? what happened? I thought they gave you a Celiac diagnosis. Doctor wants me to go on a gluten challenge and redo my biopsy--but I don't want to. How long will your challenge be? -

ARCHIVED Irregular Heartbeat
slpinsd posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I got glutened the other day and have spent the last 2 days having very frequent PVC's (irregular heartbeats). My heart skips a beat and then thumps back. Could this be a symptom of glutening? I always thought I was having reflux, but now I have taken my pulse and my heart skips a beat when this happens. Has anyone else experienced this as a symptom? -
ARCHIVED Does Glutening Bring On Reflux Flare-ups?
slpinsd replied to megsylvan2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yep- reflux gets me everytime I get glutened. This was a really bad symptom before going gluten-free that has resolved except when I get glutened. Meg, I know what you mean. I do the exact same thing. I test it every now and then because I just keep thinking what if it was a big fluke, and I'm not gluten intolerant at all. Then I get the reflux and... -
ARCHIVED How Did You Acquire Celiac?
slpinsd replied to tasha's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I now know I was born with 2 Celiac Genes. I believe I've always had problems with gluten. As a child I had what was passed off as a "nervous stomach". I would feel sick in the morning if I ate a peice of toast. I could never keep weight on. When I was 23 I started vomiting if I ate a lot of pasta. Pizza made me sick. I got tested for a "wheat allergy... -
ARCHIVED Anxiety As A Main Symptom?

ARCHIVED Lactose Intolerance Vanishing
slpinsd posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've been a self-diagnosed lactose intolerant for many years. I'm almost at 4 months gluten free. My Celiac diagnosis was inconclusive with borderline bloodwork/neg biopsy. I've just started gaining more weight, and realized that I now have problems with soy (due to cross-reaction). So, instead of soy delicious, to test it, I ate a bowl of regular ice... -
I've eaten at In-N-Out (Protein Style) a few times, and felt not very good after eating it a few times. I was wondering if anyone knows the risk of cc there? For instance, do they cook the meat on the same grill that they warm the buns on?
-
I would like to go out for Sushi, but I don't know if it is safe? I was thinking if I bring my own wheat free soy sauce it would be ok?? I know, no imitation crab. But what about the other sushi. Is it safe? Is there a high cross contamination risk?

ARCHIVED Only Elecated Igg
slpinsd replied to mlana's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If they did the FULL panel, like they are supposed to- they should have tested antigliadin IgA antigliadin IgG( the one you said was +) antitransglutaminase or antiemysiol (sp) IgA antibodies AND total immunoglobin IgA (this gives a baseline of how much IgA you produce as to measure the test results against) If you are IgA deficient, you won't produce...
